It's high time for a catch up to let you know what's going on and why there has been little content of late. Suffice to say that change is in the air...

You’ll never be a failure Mr D, we’ve enjoyed your content over the years and you know what my favourite was always your early stuff when you went to the Scottish Island’s, when Dougle was younger and it’s nice to think you’ll be able to do that again. No agenda, just doing what you want to do, when you want to do it. Good luck with you new job, hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas and a wonderful new year 😊

Hi Andrew, so glad for the update. I’m delighted that you are happy and have a job you love. It’s quite the change, going from self employed. But needs must and I hope you are as happy as you seem. You will never regret being there for your mum and brother. It’s not all sunshine and roses I’m sure. The dogs look happy, all they need is love, aren’t they lucky? Will you still do your newsletter? I almost replied to your last one but then doubted myself, thinking you wouldn’t want some random person emailing you 🤣. Kent is beautiful so if you had to leave Uist it’s a decent substitute. That’s a long commute so don’t forget your own self care. Best wishes of the season my friend. You are a very special guy - love, Isabel. 🇨🇦

Thanks for putting this video up! I was beginning to worry- I know that your viewers shouldn’t but I hoped you were settled in Kent & had found something you liked job wise. Good luck in all you do! glad you have found biking & that the boys are happy. It wasn’t at all strange to them to be in Kent. Don’t worry re uploading things- get yourself sorted first. That all takes time. How are your migraines? Hope they are getting better. Take care!

Hi, lovely to see you, I've missed you, Dougal and Ted, I totally understand why you have decided not to create content and value your honesty . Good to see you back, Andrew. During your hiatus we've been quite concerned for your wellbeing, so thankyou for providing this update. I must say, you're already looking much happier than in some recent videos, you've obviously been needing this change for a while. You're absolutely right in what you say, having the guts to take a risk and give something a shot is never a failure. The body of quality work you've produced during these seven years, and the following you've attracted as a result, are a story of resounding success. As for future content; well I'm sure we'll all agree that quality trounces quantity every time! Personally I'd much rather sporadic updates that I know have brought YOU as much joy to make, as they do me to watch, than you draining yourself dry trying to churn out content to a timetable. Though we'll most likely never meet, I've shared so much of your life through your videos that I somehow think of you as a friend. I suspect many others feel the same. And you always want the best for your friends. Take care of yourself and your family, and we'll see you when we see you!

Oh! Andrew! Sorry if ramble here but i want to say a few things, hopefully coherently 🤣 I watched your videos years ago then i stopped but occasionally did watch ones and i started again seeing your videos. I found your videos as i used to live in Lewis, my mothers from there and im bit of a ferry, train , plane geek 😂 - i found a video you made about travelling by ferry. also the islands hold a special place for me and you as i discovered and you brought that to me and others! Honestly im sorry to hear what happened but also delighted you keep your integrity!! I feel like i got to know you and dougal from the videos! Its awesome! Honestly i think you are so on point with the nonsense that sometimes comes out of social media and its cool you refuse to follow that even if it is the hard path. I understand what you mean when you say your creativity is spent just now, you need time to take a break recharge, enjoy family other things snd the freedom:) Im glad you have that just now! You are a success for way more than because you tried! You brought us many nice videos, experiences and shared much of the Hebrides and other places too with us! Not to mention lifestyles and the van reviews! You did a lot! It was very informative and nice to watch! You reached people with your videos! Remember that for ever! Also i think you presented in a fantastic way, its professional clear and concise! You do a good job! And as you just explained you made quality content over content for the sake of it!! Thats rare and fair play to you ! So you are a success for sure! Thanks for the update! And Ill be interested in any future videos you make! ☺️ Stay safe and enjoy yourself, job and new found freedom!

Andrew, you've always struck me as someone with loads of integrity so you have my full support. Recently I have noticed there has been a lot of click bait from tubers trying to get likes and subscriptions but that doesn't sit well with me some subscriptions are somewhat less. Keep up the good work, please! Absolutely love the bike!!!

Being an advocate for living simply myself, I’m happy that you talk about consumerism culture and I particularly enjoyed your ‘Living Simply’ videos. Congrats on your new, exciting job and I’m so pleased that your move south is working out so well for you Andrew.

I think we all support your decision, you must do what suits you, as much or as little as you want. We do feel that your videos are some of the best around, clean, crisp and informative, I couldn't do it as I can't take the criticism or trolling, I am too soft for that. So we hope to see you on here from time to time to keep up with your life and your two furry buddies. Go live your life Andrew, it's the only one you have got 🙏🏻❤️ 🐶

Hi Andrew, hope the new job is totally brilliant and life continues to be good. Your honesty is such a breath of fresh air when talking about sponsorship and advertising on different channels. As for being back on two wheels, I couldn’t agree more as I have been a life long biker!

I bought my caravan to the backing track of your content. I will miss your regular postings but totally see the bigger picture. Your videos gave me the confidence to get caravanning and more importantly the family and I are now total Skerryvore fanatics (if you know, you know). For that alone, we will be grateful for the rest of our lives.

You are an honest man, Andrew. I have always enjoyed your videos but you have to stay true to yourself. I am also from the SE but have been living in rural Cumbria for 10 years and even this distance is a bit difficult sometimes. I know what you mean about missing the multiculturalism of a big city and I miss that so much too. Other parts of the country are beautiful and are often good places to live, but they ain't home, no matter how much you want it to be. Thanks very much for your update and look forward to seeing your big reveal ! Stay well, be happy. Pete

Cheers Pete. It's true that you don't really know what you have until it's gone. At least Cumbria isn't so far away compared to Uist ;)

Hi Andrew, I started watching your videos before our epic 8 week tour of Scotland. Thanks to you I have to say we fell in love with the place and is probably the best holiday we’ve ever had, so can understand why you are missing it so much… I think all proper and genuine people will be on your side and support your decision. Nevertheless there are some horrible individuals about who feel the need to respond with negative comments, but I’m guessing it’s one of the downside’s when we put ourselves out there in the world of social media … So wishing you all the best in your new career and new life down in Kent, “AND” Don’t let the B******do get the better of you. I’ll be keeping a lookout for any content you put up … Best wishes, Miranda ✊👍

Congratulations on your new job, I have loved your content for years, you are the reason we discovered the Hebrides, a gift that we can never repay :) If you make one video that makes you happy a year then that will be enough. I agree with you 100% about social media, it starts as joy and ends up for a lot of people as a hamster wheel of repetitive vacant videos to make money. You have taught me SO much in such a natural way I am grateful. Thankyou for the last 7 years, looking forward to the next 7 however they may be xx

Hello Andrew….just wanted to say you and the boys are greatly missed. I always enjoy Sunday morning when your videos pop up on KZfaq (8 hour time difference). Looking forward to your return and hoping you have a better year than 2023! ❤️ from Britain Columbia Canada 🇨🇦. PS. Would like to see a caravan to Devon and Cornwall?

Being your own boss can sound something to aim for but there’s a pressure that you carry with you that takes it’s toll. All credit to you for making wise changes. When things settle I look forward to the return of your high quality posts without the pressure of quantity. Best wishes Andrew.

Certainly seems the right decision for you Andrew as you sound exhausted by Social. A point I found interesting was that you now feel you're enjoying the freedom that's came from the changes and then describe many of the things many people want to escape from to find freedom. Found that really insightful as it goes to show that there is no one choice of lifestyle that makes people feel free so they need to find their own.
