My mum is the one who suggested I go on the pill in the first place because my periods were so heavy and irregular. Also I have intense anxiety which the period hormones only seemed to make worse, so here have the pill sweetie that should stop the blood ruining your pants and the intense cramps. Also iron supplements because you’re deficient. She fought tooth and nail for me to get the help I needed just like she always has (eg: annoyed my towns school board into getting off their asses and organising my move to a special needs school because between bullying and no real support I wasn’t anywhere near where I should have been academically despite natural academic skill being the singular bonus I got with the autism package.) and I don’t think I could have ever gotten a better person in my corner for that. I genuinely think it’s so important to remember that while the pills use as a contraceptive is important it’s not JUST a contraceptive. It’s a life improving measure for so many people who deal with horrible symptoms and side effects from periods all the time.
@erynpoulin8151Ай бұрын
Happy for you! I have a mom similiar to her and I’m always grateful
@woodnymph3063Ай бұрын
Try B vitamins and work on gut absorption. The pill and iron supplements will only affect the symptoms, not actually create change. This is common with autism. The vagus nerve needs the B vitamins to remylinate.

Birth control has some stupid stigma around it for older doctors for some reason. They'll try anything before recommending birth control. I know someone who had to take several doses of painkillers throughout the day to deal with irregular period pains and cramps , and it barely even did anything, making her miss school due to immense pain. Then one doctor was just like, "Oh, what she needs is birth control". Fixed the issue instantly, stopped taking it after a few cycles, problems were gone.
@lucilegounon6470Ай бұрын
I don't want to intrude, but if you haven't already, it could be a good thing to test for endometriosis, which can lead to similar symptoms (they vary according to the person and the intensity of the disease but they include : heavy flow, intense cramps, pain during sex, digestive problems etc.). Hope you are okay :) And I'm sorry people have not listened to your pain ; women's plain unfortunately tends to be dismissed...
@WigglyTuffStuffАй бұрын
I'm glad you have a supportive mom. As a fellow ND person, I would suggest going to the Dr, telling them your concerns, and having a full blood panel to check for vitamin deficiencies before you just start popping pills. Maybe some things will come back that you weren't expecting. It's so easy to go the hyperfocus-super research route with this, but the evidence is in your bloodwork. And it can save you money if you only need a multivitamin. 😂 And even if you have endo, they would only diagnose it surgically. You can check things out like the diet made for endometriosis, try it for a bit, see if it improves anything, then report that back to the Dr. Best of luck!

No, but like true. I went to a gynecologist for my cycle problems. They offered basically birth control options. I thought it was fine because I was like, "I'm staying a virgin anyway." As soon as I told my mom it was a type of birth control, she was like, "No. We're not getting that." Like... Am I supposed to suffer just because it's a birth control?
@toastaladeАй бұрын
I went through this as a teen too. The second I turned 18 I got the implant behind my mom's back and she accused me of having a lot of sex when she found out. I was doing no such thing, I was just trying to manage my pain. I'm sorry you're having trouble with this with your parents. If you're in the US, many states allow you to get birth control without parent permission, and there are many programs that will help you get them free or low cost. Planned Parenthood is well known, but many times local clinics will also do it. I wish you well, I hope your suffering eases

Hey here’s food for thought. My wife had really painful periods and a lot of docs just wanted to give her birth control. She didn’t go on it. We went and found out she had endometriosis. She had surgery, and her periods are better. Long story short birth control is a band aid on a bullet hole and can change your hormones and how your body delivers them, so when get off the symptoms come back or having children is difficult.
@_Oof_Ай бұрын
@@marchendricks They did an ultrasound to look for endometriosis before prescribing birth control. I was only on it for 6 months. The extreme pain has only happened a handful of times since coming off of it, which was 7 years ago. My periods have always been irregular including when I was on birth control. I've had my hormones checked twice since and everything came back normal. It's rare for hormonal birth control to cause permanent fertility issues. Even if it did, I want back on it because I don't want kids. TLDR: I'll take the band aid since I don't know where my bullet hole is lol

My mom and younger sister went on it before me (my mom seems to downplay anything that happens to me, so yes, my YOUNGER sister got to be relieved of her pain 3 years before I did) and their periods went away after the second shot. I was the unlucky one. I started getting cramps my 4th shot to where I was CRYING at work. Like it was ridiculous. I switched to the combo pill last week and I couldn’t be happier. I was on the pill before I got a boyfriend when I was a teenager. It did help with bad periods but not my acne. 😢 Also, when i did get a boyfriend it was very nice. I got to a point where I didn't have periods anymore which actually was quite amazing. You just had to remember to get your refills or shot every three months which was a drag. Haha. Then my husband and I decided to have a baby and then I realized that getting my fertility back was going to take a while and getting irregular periods was not super fun as an adult woman... also hormones totally change. I was going to comment this. I know it's a skit, but are there people who have parents like this? I feel so horrible for them. People are so uneducated about birth control. It's not just for teens having s*x, it's also an amazing thing that can alleviate cramps. I had such bad cramps I would miss work and school because I could hardly move, and I'd bleed through stuff all the time. It was horrible. Ever since I got on the pill (I'm on a certain type that stops my period altogether unless I stop taking it) I've been so much better and happier. I can't imagine if I had parents who told me no because they thought it was for the wrong reasons? I was in so much pain before. That's so awful.
