Yes, the wife started it and even continued after the work was done. "Ya did somethin' without yer daddy," comment makes me understand why he doesn't finish. Why try? Frankly, knowing that this was being filmed, she should have been nicer.

After watching only two episodes I can see that by removing my hand carved rosewood Victorian sofa from the large dinning room, would make the room less complicated. I can't believe I am willing to part with it after all of these years!

The wife is so hateful towards the mother-in-law. I will not be surprised after more kids they will end up in angry divorce. Nothing will make that woman happy. She seems very self centred. If you don't like your mother-in-law then redecorate the whole house again.

Could be there wasn't the $ for it and wouldn't budget for what wasn't necessary. That huge house must cost a lot to heat and cool.

I didn't see a dislike for the MIL at all--just that they had very different tastes. I've read a lot of criticism of the wife, but in her defense, the house has never been hers: he only finishes projects with his dad, his mom decorated, he keeps his stuff from high school, his mom is their agent, and even when she wants small changes, his mom is still pushing her own taste--like with the cabinet handles. His mom is also an advocate for bold paint colors--like the pink room, the bathroom, and the dining room. When you don't have power in a relationship, it comes out in sniping. It could also be that with the designer and crew, she felt like she had some back-up for a change. Did you hear her husband say he LIKED the fishy bathroom?

It’s very disrespectful to show a house to perspective buyers when it’s cluttered and scruffy with unfinished jobs. It also makes no financial sense.

I was mostly disappointed by the relationship dynamics of this couple and family. I thought I am going to watch a makeover show, instead, I saw people throw each other under the bus for the whole show. It was very ugly. I do not think people understand what they have in America, in relationships, or at home. Most people would beg to have a house like that bad remodel projects or NOT.

I've been watching a few of these shows, and I'm confused. This notion of a "turnkey" home, with everything exactly the way you want it is what we get when we BUILD our own homes--not when we buy from someone else. I'd never expect to find a house with color choices I like, and decor that fits me. Yes, you want a clean home in good repair, but paint, drapes, flooring, and staging? That's not even icing on the cake; it's the sprinkles. This home is 3k sf, and it's on a big lot. I'd buy it before they even touched it at that low price. I'd then get to choose my own paint colors, and decide what needed updating and changing--again, to my tastes. I can't believe people would rather have some vanilla, one-size-fits-most home. I'd save that 5k for what really matters--like when you need a new AC, or the roof needs replacing.

@@smallfootprint2961 My apologies, small footprint, I was so irritated by the music I used a lot of snark in my comment, forgetting that sarcasm doesn't always play well on the internet. So, we are on the same page- the music here is overpowering, annoying, and makes it nearly impossible to hear the people talking.

Clearly the wife doesn't like her mother-n-law...... is also very condescending and Tommy is like a deer caught in headlights... and seems like he is kind of a sad guy.... I just wonder why................. and Mother n Law and her suggestion of needing some bold colors.... well....................................... NO!
