I've never seen a VR6 swapped 911, would be sick af but probably too much weight too far off center, would likely compromise handling, and I'm pretty sure you'd have to run a different transmission, since the VR6 is so long I have however seen some Audi 2.7T V6 swapped 996 👀, but don't know if it would fit a G-Body without lots of massaging, which would also be a shame

I was really hoping there was a VR6 under the blanket. The 3.2s make 280 standard, cheap to boost and can easily make 450-500hp with a small turbo. Plus they sound insane and it would probably be the only one in the world!

should of went with a VR6 enginge. there is a company called Speed density motorsports that makes adapter plates from the VR6 to a 996/997 911 turbo trans.

Not going to lie, I was really hoping for a VR6...or an ez30r. Modern engine, really solid NA power, revs high, timing chain, co-engineered with porsche, and most importantly sounds the part. Theyre defintely the sleeper subaru engine exception

Before the job I have now I was a private mechanic for a wealthy business owner building rotary cars. I lasted a year because it was too depressing building cars for him the way he wanted and not being able to afford them myself. Might be the same for Spoon. He will build 5 or more cars for Jimmy while trying to build his own on a fraction of the budget.

Jimmy, I have a 996 with a manual, you NEED to order the Numeric Racing short shifter and cables. It turns the 996 trans into the best shifting feel in any car I’ve ever driven. It is a complete game changer!!!

Duuuuude not another K series! Kennedy Engineering Products specialise in transaxle adapters! Including the 996 box and have a huuuuge range of engines they can adapt too! 1.8t would be soooo sick and I guarantee they make the kit if you enquire, AND they do the custom flywheels and clutches

For those that are interested. A common transaxle swap in the 80s/90s was the "Renault UN1". It came from the Alpine GTA. Lots of adaptor options, holds decent power. Lots of aftermarket support around the world etc. Normally a cheaper swap than Porsche and Audi transmissions.

What about instead of making it a safari, turn it into a Dune Slayer and have Baja shocks sticking out of it 😆. There are many safari builds and it seems like the cars are only used once or twice a year and then get stowed away in the back of the garage. This particular 911 needs to be used and abused.. @@phonetics8272 i still have it and love it. I had to get rid of the body when I shortened its wheelbase. Now it's got a 22r Toyota motor and is quite a bit of fun.
