It’s not I gave it my best shot it wasn’t my Porsche so I can’t finish something that’s not mine the owner doesn’t want to invest if he did it would be finished but he’s at a loss and doesn’t wish to continue as he’s loosing money big time as he plans to sell it after it’s rebuilt. He spent £19k on the car and £10k already on the rebuild that’s without my costs. And the maximum price these go for running perfect and with full history is £24k for a C4s convertible tiptronic….. problem is it isn’t just the engine he needs all new coolant pipes at the front, tyres are all bald, MOT expires next month , brake discs are all corroded, and they are £2000 for all 4 discs the car needs a lot a hell of a lot not to mention new starter cable new starter motor and the cost is adding and adding up problem with buying these 997 your buying them with your eyes closed you could be lucky like I was and find one that’s been apart before and easy to remove everything OR you can buy one that’s been heavily neglected near the sea side all its life and everything just is corroded and broken like this one. I wouldn’t say though they are money pits you have to expect it for a 20 year old sports car people know what they are buying when buying them just like bmw coolant pipes water pump all them things don’t last forever and people get rid of Porsches at the mileage it’s needed but I love Porsche don’t get it wrong I love my 911 and I drive it daily with no regrets. With others bmw is the ultimate driving machine as I said once you drive a porsche you soon realise that simply isn’t the case I’m not knocking the brand I’m telling you until you drive a Porsche you can’t say that! someone here in the comments has both and as he said now he’s owned Porsche he wouldn’t consider another bmw. I have the money to maintain and repair Porsches others don’t that’s why if he doesn’t collect it in within 28 days it’s my right to keep the car which I will and rebuild it for myself and sell it on so it’s no loss to me.

I never just chucked it out it’s out for now as I need my garage back to normal I have things to do I’m not a storage Center for peoples cars. As I stated if the owner fails to collect I will claim it as mine and will have to rebuild it later on I want to get back to what this channels purpose is for (BMW) Porsche is a hobby as I stated I have mine im happy it was never intended as a channel car and I don’t intend to have another but if I have to do this one aswell then I will do it later on I’m in no rush. My main purpose is to get back to bmw content and bring the heat back

Over here silver top=N52 black top=N53 for the 5 series. I have seen black top N52k engines on the 1 series and I believe a 3 if I'm not mistaken

N52 has valvetronic and n53 does not. 272hp is with 3 stage manifold which would be 330i/530i models after 06. After that they released 328i/528i models with de tuned engines without 3 stage manifold or 325i/525i with sulev N51 that already has the 3 stage manifold but needs to be activated through coding.

N53 is more or less identical to the N52 & 54 all of which had the same common problems with injectors and coil packs also fuel pump problems. In reality the N53 is far more reliable than the other 2. However, it does not has the same performance but could be tuned retrospectively to perform but is it worth it. All comes down to what you want..

I’m not ashamed for me bro I’m ashamed for the guy that owns it as what he’s done he’s made it uncomfortable for himself to the point I will end up claiming the car and rebuilding it all for myself it’s no loss to me he’s already aware he’s being charged £30 a day storage fee so it will go up and up the longer he leaves it. But the reason I’m getting another bmw is because I’m not loosing from the boxster but if I end up keeping this 911 I may have regretted buying this new bmw 😂 purely because I won’t need it I’m only buying it for certain reasons which will be explained when I buy it but overall I don’t drive the boxster I love my 911 I’m way too in love with that car and the boxster I even forgot it’s MOT I had to go and get it MOTD 😂 that’s how much I never used it but in all honesty it would be good if the boxster leaves especially if I end up with this 911 convertible I just gained a better really 👊🏻

Trust me it’s ridiculous at the moment over here with the parts especially as many keep going cheap and people are buying them and trying to rebuild them it’s a fight you can’t win unfortauntely it’s not I don’t want to do it it’s I can’t and it’s not my car to spend money on it if it was mine then it would be a different story all together but I ain’t paying for someone else’s car. Yep and I can guess why 😂 worst engine I bet you wish you saw my video before buying it that would of saved you the money I see so many people selling the N53 cars even the 3 , 5 , 6 series all of them loads of them online and unless you know about the car you get tricked into buying it. People buy them because they want LCI everything and although all that stuff makes the car nicer what sits underneath the bonnet is the nightmare nobody wants 😂 I would rather have the non LCI and have the N52

@@BMWDoctor I’ve only found your channel recently and have got a lot of info from your N52 vids - thanks for that… I haven’t actually had any issues with it (low mileage, one owner from new before me) until recently. I upgraded the injectors which were index 9 and leaking and now in the process of replacing the oil filter housing/cooler and its gasket as I’ve found oil in the coolant expansion tank 🥴. I’m hoping my head gasket is still good, but we’ll see shortly.

No no chance mate yeah I did have a M3 and I sold it as it was a quick flip wasn’t for me to be honest mate after driving my 911 I want a 911 turbo and I’m saving for that so I won’t purchase any M cars I don’t mind normal BMWs as they lose value anyway but I’m saving for my 911 turbo that I hope to get this year at some point

No it’s called parts are in high demand there is a waiting list and I was 103 on the list which could be aslong as December this year! There is more people then there is parts being made that’s how it is with Porsche bearing in mind the 996 uses mostly the same parts as a 997 , 987 , 986 , 996 so parts go quickly independants stock up as there is specialists that do this daily so for them they buy the lot straight away and charge high prices to the customer because the customer wouldn’t be able to get them…. it’s a big money maker for that reason hence when people like me do them as a normal customer you can’t source the part even online as you will wait months. And then you ring them for the part and they charge you more then the part is worth and you pay it if you desperately need it and want to finish the build

@BMWDoctor Sounds like Porshe doesn't know how to run their business. I can get any BMW parts for my car today or overnight at any dealer or OEM supplier and those parts are not cheap either. Most aftermarket parts suck unless made by the same company than manufacturers for BMW and most BMW owners know who makes those parts such as Lemforder just to name one.

Porsche don’t use lemforder and there is no Chinese aftermarket parts like there is for bmw with Porsche you have only 3 choices with Porsche it’s genuine , meyle which are factory Porsche used products or febi that’s it! I highly doubt con rod bearings are £500 for a bmw that’s without the main bearings and without the ARP bolts for the crankcase which are £300 and the arp rod bolts £200 then the engine head studs £800 yeah Porsche ain’t bmw my friend Porsche is expensive very expensive. They are not shit cars by any means just shit owners on Ford money who can’t afford the costs of ownership I rebuilt mind properly and just on parts I have £16k in my 911 this person doesn’t want to spend that money on this car but then would you if you bought it for £19k and it’s only worth running perfect £24k? I doubt you would and that’s not even fully perfect he then needs all the coolant pipes which are £500 the control arms all together front and rear and all new bolts are £1100 for all of them including the drop links that’s without all the other engine stuff 3 CCVs all the pipes which are another £600 then new starter motor , new starter cable which is £300, new pulleys tensioner belts , new exhaust gasket and clamps bolts the list is endless I have already done a video on how much it cost to overhaul a 911 and just for engine parts it’s about £12k that’s without the gasket set £500 all fluids remember these Porsches take 50 liters of coolant from empty and 9.0 liters of miller nano oil. There is a lot you don’t even realise about Porsche Porsche is for the rich and wealthy and let’s not forget he hasn’t even paid me yet for my labour and extra costs involved drilling out bolts Dude I do bmw I can overhaul a whole bmw for less then £3k you can’t overhaul a Porsche engine for £3k I know what I’m talking about your speaking like I don’t know about bmw remember who I am bro i used to build them engines from the ground up. £3k I can completely rebuild any bmw.

That engine really ain’t worth turbo charging by a N54 it’s cheaper and easier then turbo charging the N43

Salvage cars will not do it justice and finding and buying salvage Porsches is not a good thing hard to sell on as Porsche owners Porsche community are very funny about things like that they don’t want a categorised car it’s different with other brands but Porsche is a deffinete no no

I don’t think it’s the parts are expensive I have a 997.2 and dean owns my old 997 it’s getting the parts there is a problem at present. I order from Design911 myself and they are having big problems with everything bearings , tensioners , pulleys , chain guides there is long waits and a lot of people on the list waiting for them. The reason for this is 996 uses a lot of the same parts and dean is right garages are buying them all the moment there is stock and keeping them it’s ok if you do these regularly but if like dean it’s just on the off chance then it’s not a viable solution.

Undortauntely people buy these and want to spend little to no money on them to rebuild them as there is no other choice they can’t sell it on like that or they will lose and they don’t want to pay so much to rebuild it or they will lose as I said to the owner most who rebuild these ain’t going in for a sale they are rebuilding them for a passion as it’s the dream car not calculating how much goes into it. My one I have about £16k in parts alone but I bought it cheap enough to warrant doing that and now it drives amazing and I love every minute of it don’t get me wrong I love Porsches the problem is the people buying them they don’t have the money to repair it but then if you spend £19k on the car would you spend £11k rebuilding it if you plan to sell it after and only get back £24k at the maximum ?

Compared to bmw they are .. but people buy them and cannot afford to repair or service them ..that’s there problem not Porsche ..or people buy them without knowledge of the car and end up buying something that was never looked after ..like anything in life. That’s so correct my friend I believe in that I bought mine and I did it no problem I didn’t complain or moan but then I went in with my eyes wide open I think the guy who bought this got scammed and didn’t know about bore score until he got home with it I think as Porsches all make ticking noises because of the injectors and especially the tiptronics the people who sold it to him passed it off as such just normal until he had a bore scope which I don’t believe he did as he told me all 6 was scored and it was only 3 but yeah when I rebuilt mine I went in deep

Totally agree with that one my friend 😂 I didn’t think it would be like that considering your talking about Porsche here not a VW but it’s ridiculous but I can’t say it’s just VAG as I have 2 Porsches and one VW and a Audi they are maintained to the highest level by me so what I don’t get is if I can afford them why can’t these other people 🤷🏻‍♂️ how do they find the money to buy the car? Funny thing is the guy bought the car for £19k I think he wasn’t aware of the bore score as people ain’t who don’t know cars and bought it overpriced and wants it rebuild cheaply to resell it and that’s impossible with a Porsche even I learned that one thankfully I don’t intend to ever get rid of my 911 so for me it’s all worth it. But it isn’t just VAG bmw owners are the same the people I see even on videos driving the cars around with a eml light on and ignoring the problem is crazy I just want to tell them bring your car to me I will fix it for free just to save it before it becomes a disaster 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@BMWDoctor You're right, and probably the same mindset as me - if you buy a car with mainteance costs of 2/3k per annum and with a 911 that will eventually need a 10-12k rebuild if paying a pro then on buying said car you have to have the means to maintain. Sadly we are in the minority. Joe Public sees a 911 for new Ford Fiesta money and doesn't bother to think what the runnning cost will be on the car. Personally, as I can't do the work ont he engine like you, I'd only ever consider a 911 that has had the rebuild done and will pay a premium for it. My VW Corrado has had £9k spent on it in the last year much done myself except for engine works (just top end, chains, clutch and some perfomance cams). Parts are a real problem but you don't buy a 30 year old car and not have some budget set aside to make the car tip top again. And this cost is before and body repairs for rust (fortunately i bought a car with good shell and low miles).

I will be honest with you mate you know what’s worse he only needed 3 pistons instead of saving the money and buying the 3 for £300 as I told him he went and bought a whole new 6 for £1300 which I told him wasn’t needed as the pistons can’t seize to iron sleeves you think he listened then he had the cheek to complain when I said he needs a new front console as his one was corroded and I don’t feel comfortable putting it back on as that is key to engines life and health and that was £400 he refused but yet spent a load on pistons he’s gone about this rebuild completely wrong and he’s made it expensive for himself I have no idea why but he got pissed off when I told him I am not glueing the front console round piece back as it won’t hold and I won’t take that chance it’s a shame people are like this a real shame. But I love the VW corrado 😍 they are very nice you don’t see many about anymore I tell you that. It’s good to see someone with the same logic as me with a rebuild if you want to learn about Porsches and rebuilding them I’m happy to teach you you can come to my shop and I can teach you the ins and outs of them so you could go and buy a cheap one as many come up for cheap needing a lot of this and I don’t mind helping another person out I don’t like seeing people struggle and do things on the floor so if you ever need a hand or any advise reach out to me. @@BMWDoctor Thank you, that is very kind. I am debating whether to see the Corrado and get a 911 (997.1 3.6 would be ideal for me) as it is an itch that needs scratching. Well it sounds like you have met a proper wrong'un with your customer.... the best and worst thing in life are people.

I can safely say owning one myself and never owned a Porsche before it’s the best purchase I ever made. I had a E60 M5 v10 but it was useless the power was useless and couldn’t be used on the roads today and the handling was floppy and all over the place! You can’t beat the 911 the engine sound it sounds like a race car when it hits the red line the handling is phenomenal and the power is more then enough for daily use and the roads in the Uk and if built properly, will last for many thousands of miles just you can’t skimp out on the car and it will reward you every time. Like I say I love mine and now there is nothing I can drive that will beat the driving experience the fun I have in it and the power and that brute engine noise 😍 and if I sold mine I would probably end up in depression as to find another with everything I have done on mine is impossible as these will have a engine rebuild but that’s about it nothing else as the owners don’t do it themselves. And another thing is they are a joy to work on

Yeah it’s not me mate it’s the guy that owns it he’s a big issue ain’t got the money to finish it moaning and complaining and the part problem is a big problem but if he don’t collect then in the unfortunate circumstances it will be claimed as mine I have already giving him his notice which I’m required to by law and now he has 2 weeks to sort it if not it becomes my property and I will rebuild it later on

Yep the 996 has the same issue from 2001 onwards if I’m honest I prefer the 996 more bang for the buck compared to 997 and 987 and the 996 , 986 have really appealed to me they never used too I used to hate the look but now I got used to it and would own one in a heartbeat

@@BMWDoctor 996 is the cheapest Porsche here in my country Canada. 997’s are still pricey depending on the model, & 991’s are still out of reach for affordability since it’s they’re fairly new cars
