Brings back memories for me the Carlton gsi. My Dad ordered one from new in 89 but never got it as he passed away, heartbreaking to have to go and cancel the order!

I think early carlton gsi were 12v and later one's 24v. Still a lovely car though definitely love the old vauxhalls

This model was sent to Lotus to be become the Lotus Carlton. Taken out to 3.6 twin turbo. Holden back axle and 6 speed Tremec gearbox used in the Corvette!

So much better than the modern stuff, fantastic car.

They were good cars, absolutely loads of them around. I always liked the 3 litre version the rozzers used.

My dad had a 'D' reg CDi model back in 1988. He always wanted the gsi3000 but these were too pricey back in the day. Mind blowing! Cracking video! Cheers!

Great video, i had the exact same car and colour on a 1990 G plate which i bought for £3000 in 1999 and i loved it. one of the best cars i ever owned and it was great to see another one still on the road.

I enjoyed the nostalgia in this video and it's brought back the memories of my 2 Vectra GSi's. A phase 1 2.5 v6 1998 S reg in jungle green which was a bargain £995 and lasted 6 years. Blanked off egr, slight rises fuel reg and a panel filter sorted out the performance. The a phase 3 2.6 v6 which was a beast until the rain plus a flooded corner had it away 😭 I was gutted! They both weren't the quickest to 60 but sat at the speed limit 😊 with so much ease 🚗 💨

Wow not seen a gsi for a while👌🏼many moons ago I missed out on a lotus Carlton at £9500 😱

Hope you are doing a video or three on the refurb with Ash on the Carlton. Think you kinda owe it to him and should lend him your unit to do the work, while we watch of course.😜 You should get a lend of a lotus badged version of what you just filmed or even better bring one to the channel and restore it yourself. Classics like those are best. Remember the suggestion I gave you around 2 years ago, about a Carlos Sainz Celica on the channel to restore. MK3 GSI Astra, 309/405 GTi/Mi16. Go on take the dive and restore a real car, go the full hog. Sure what harm can it do. Definitely won't be the same old GTR/RS(as in Audi)(Ford RS is old school and the original RS) general stuff that everyone else is doing. Just a suggestion.

Had one years ago but mine was a 24V It was super chipped de catted k&n pannel filter power boost valve got it road roads turned @ hi-tech motorsport 234bhp it was manual with a LSD it was a very very fast car would effortlessly go off the speed o’clock 150 mph Miss it that’s one car I should have kept l❤ the video 👍🏻

RS cost £2300.The dearest Capri was £500 and apart from touched up rear arches,it was immaculate.Ash has got himself a really rare classic there.Fair play ti him

At last ! 😎. Been wanting this on the channel for so long. Lusted after these when I was young but couldn’t afford the insurance, always wanted a red 24v one. Later on bought its replacement the Omega in 2.5 then 3.2 form, brilliant cars. Definitely more of this on the channel. Oh try pulling away in 2nd and brake boosting may help the 0-60.

In an old car like that the auto box will kill the power, a manual would be quicker with less transmission loss but it may not be as good a cruiser the choice is yours

My brothers friend used to have the gsi3000 when I was a kid he used to say he wants the lotus Carlton. I was only like 9-10 years old so didn't have a clue about cars
