I think it is cooler to only paint the inside, because the wow-effect when you open the piano will be bigger I think

Definitely preserve the normal piano appearance on the outside, so there is potential for a fun reveal video! Oh yes, not sure if this is the place for this suggestion, but make sure you add anti fungal/ anti bacterial agents to the water and put in a good drainage option.

To mitigate this, you should sand back the whole inside of the piano, until it's at a point where adding the paint will bring it back as close as possible to normal. This means you can sand back that sealant and reapply it too, greatly increasing the heroic tedium of the project. =)

The absolute coolest would be a clear acrylic lid with colored LEDs inside the piano, but that would be wayyy too much! It depends on how well you can do effects like marbling. If the lid is just solid blue, it would be cooler to only paint the inside. If the lid is marbled, it should be cooler than if it was only painted on the inside.

I like these videos showing your process and you asking questions. It feels a bit like working with you on it instead of just seeing the finished result. I wouldn’t paint the lid, too, because it keeps that piano spirit up a bit more. But maybe you should just start and of you think the lid should be painted to you can just add that.

Make sure to choose paint that will protect the wood, water can be absorbed and will go through.

I think you should still sand it to wood (on the outside) then oil it of a nice golden color. It's not a pretty finish and you want to play with the new toy so thats what i'd do. "Paint" only the inside blue BUT im sure there is way to put some blue dye in some vernish SO THAT the wood grain would still be visible. Its still a wooden grand piano and painting the wood is against the code. But seriously I think the result would be less flat and you would just enhance the blue of the water no need to use paint im sure. Several layers of blue vernish would be even more resistant to water than paint longterm.

Maybe you should have used aquarium silicone to "plug the holes", or maybe it's a good idea to put it on top of the glue or putty you used. Btw, paint just "the pool part" of the piano, it's gonna be cool.

Maybe on the inside you can paint mosaic designs like the ones inside pools, that usually has white light blue and dark blue colours, but on the outside it looks like a normal piano:)

I suggest you to colour it fully blue(idk)it will be better i think in my opinion.

I think that painting the whole piano blue will be more fitting. Sure, the pool blue will match the piano's dark brown if you paint just the sides, but it will look like a half-baked job imho (wanted to avoid the other "half-" phrase 😅). Maybe it's because I really like the color blue and I'm biased, I don't really know 😂, but I think that a blue piano will look way cooler than a blue & brown one. Plus, it's not everyday that you see a differently colored piano (apart from the usual black and brown ones).

Yes! Pool color. Everything you've ever made has been a "stealth" piano. Just imagine how clickable the thumbnail would be for a pool blue piano with the lid propped open, full of water, and with a rubber duck floating inside as you're sitting there looking like you're playing it. I've heard the thumbnail is like 95% of what determines a video's success.

What kind of sealant have you used for the corners? A lot of paints will not sich well on silicone type sealants. Is the primer compatible to the sealer?

I think it would be cooler and more surreal / unexpected if you only do the inside. That way the top is down it looks like completely normal/ black piano but lift the top and there’s a pool inside. Reminds me of something Margritte would have done if he thought of it.

I think you should just paint the inside, or the entire thing. If you want to paint the walls of it then do the whole thing. I think it would look better if the outside was as close to a "normal" paino as possible with a surprise on the inside.
