The $694.49 is just for the blank doll, correct? As someone who wants to start customizing dolls and knows absolutely nothing about custom ordering BJD's, I'm not sure why the doll is so expensive. Is it because of the work needed for the alien eye slots? Or is there more work put into the process of making the different skin tones? I am absolutely sure that the doll is worth the price and I don't mean to offend. I am just confused at the high price tag.

@@turtlnickel 700$$ is a reasonable price for a BJD of her size, especially from a (in the bjd creator community) smaller creator. BJDs are hella expensive. One of mine, Maomao, was about 200$$ a decade ago. and she's only 7.5in tall.

Same! I’m exhausted of darker skin tones being excluded for unnatural ones. I feel like white people are never aware of it like poc are, it was the first thing I noticed

Ahhhh, I spent a year at high school in Tokyo in the early 00s and I spent EVERY Sunday in game centers, admiring the SentaaGais and Gyarus around. They were all so creative and out there and unashamed!!! I admired them all so much!

I've never really thought much about gyaru fashion, but I think it's so cool that it's a form of rebellion! Nova turned out space-tacular! The little overdrawn droopy eyes turned out really endearing! If I had her outfit, I'm not sure I would ever change! And that wig! Wow! I'm not even a big fan of neon green or blunt bangs, but my two favorite wigs from you have those features now (the other is Oracle's)! Fantastic job on her!

@Athena sadly, dark resin is extremely hard to work with and expensive- that's why so many bjd shops have limited skin tones as well

@@sushilampa8287 ahhh that's why. I don't know much about working with resin and was deeply disappointed at the limited skintones, wondering wtf the issue was. I'm sure there's a way to give darker skintones anyway, but it's very interesting to know it's hard to do.

The production of the prototypes was extremely pricy which is why I had to limit myself with the production. I will add a deeper skin tone to the pre order.

@Moonlight Jewel Ah that's understandable! Didn't know that darker resins were more difficult and expensive, of course you wouldn't make the prototypes in them. Glad to hear that you're planning on expanding it in the actual pre order!

I would've loved a dark chocolate and dark navy skin tone, I know pigment is super expensive already but I would've really loved to customize a dark brown tone and made her moon themed 😢

That's not to say the colours aren't pretty! And I love the end result. I just don't feel super drawn to the gray-brown tone or know what I'd do with the other ones.

@@lenaitherapper5638 quality pigment in resin is pricey. Having a doll printed in white or gray is already pricey on it's own, and all of these colours are super costly as it is. As someone who knows quality, it is hard to ask something like this.

The doll turned out really neat! Wish the skin tones had more actual natural tone color variety... especially since the dark tone wasn't very dark at all, and was only a few shades different than the white tone, plus it seemed a bit washed out. Hell, the more "alien" colors, counting the red one, were darker than that one, especially when said dark tone was named "Midnight" :/

OMGGGG I'M OBSESSED as someone who wears gyaru fashion, it's so nice to see people taking so much interest in it, especially in the west. the only alternative jfashion to truly break into the west has been lolita and while i do love and wear lolita myself, i think gyaru could have so much potential here in the modern age

According to comments she left she will include dark skin tones in the next batch which is definitely good. She said there were limited production costs but I do agree that swapping out a fantasy color for a deeper skin tone would’ve been the way to go.
