I have to say the way you owned up to a mistake deserves the upmost respect, these days most people are so entitled they couldn't do that but you can, and I am so glad to see that, we are all human and any one could have made that small mistake, but you put your mouth and $$ on the line to own up to it, much respect my dude!

Didn’t seem like a mistake, seemed like a pretty tactical way to mess with him. Edit; Ofcourse he should have checked the #’s tho. Servicing was the distraction to set that all up.

@loganwill-ut2ge I've pulled away from a dock that was a green light. When I hook up to the trailer being a drop and hook. When I pulled away a minute later I had workers yelling at me and stuff. Cause someone was loading it still. And try to say I damaged their dock plate when it fell. My dispatch and bosses called me and I had to explain that no the light was green and there was no damage to their equipment or our trailer either. And I was not told that they were still having to load the trailer still. Since then I only pull a trailer a very small amount distance and double check.

did a similar thing. working walmart dedicated, i was given the wrong paperwork and didn't double check the addresses so i grabbed the trailer for the paperwork i was given and started heading down toward Pueblo CO only to get a call asking what trailer i had. told them and they just said "so that's where it is." Thankfully it was going going further down the road in the direction i was already going but yeah, shit sucks when that happens

You might look into split sleeper if allowed, this could really help you maximize your hours after waiting long periods. For example, instead of waiting the hour and a half you did on dispatch finding you a trailer, wait another 30 min and you will recapture that wait time after. Then, you only need an 8 hour rest to get the remaining time back

@papasmurf5598
@papasmurf5598 Жыл бұрын
His regular lock he puts on the trailer doors is probably still on the trailer he left behind since he thought he had the correct one. They are going to have to send him back to Bristol because he has the Bills for the other trailer. At that point they can decide what to do from there. Just basically start over from the terminal. Bristol isn’t out of route going to Pennsylvania so taking it back up there is the best option I think and swap. This is going to eat him up mentally for awhile until he gets over it and realizes he’s most likely not going to be fired but it’s just so embarrassing.
@TwoCatsplusATrucker
@TwoCatsplusATrucker Жыл бұрын
Yeah doesn’t show in the video if he puts a lock on the trailer doors or not. The company I drove for they make you get a kingpin lock and a enforcer trailer door lock at the companies shop which comes out of your pay before you leave orientation.

Been there done that Dave. I was running team for R&L carriers. Co-driver hooked to a set of pups going to Charlotte nc. He woke me up in Louisiana to switch out, and he had the wrong trailers. We had to take them back to Houston and get the right ones. That caused us to get home 10 hrs late to start our two days off. When I showed him his mistake, he said, “they’re gonna take that mileage out of our checks”! I replied, You mean your check Hoss! I was asleep in the bunk when you did that boo-boo! Lol Don’t know if they docked him or not, but my check came out fine. Put’s a big sick ball of stress in your belly when that happens for sure; but THAT’S TRUCKIN!!!!

AKA the beginning of a semi-trailer. It's what the floors are drilled into its with the walls are attached to. I even put on the crash plates at the Mansfield bars are attached to as well as the Slide rails. We call the Semi Trailers the tandems we call a bogey. I thought for sure, after reading the video title, that the first trailer you picked up was going to be the wrong one. Man what an unfortunate coincidence that they dropped the same company trailer in place of yours, starting with the same trailer numbers. It's easy to see how that mistake happened, after a 20 hour day especially. Don't beat yourself up, sh1t happens and this was a really easy mistake to happen given all the circumstances

Navajo driver here: First time & only time thus far, I've driven the wrong trailer was from Shaw Industries distribution yard in Denver. It was supposed to be an empty because I'm going 6 hours (physically 5 hours but we leave mountain time zone to central time zone) ...away to Liberal, KS to National Beef. With that load going to Charlotte NC. My home city. I kept saying to myself as soon as I'm on the interstate like this feels loaded. I pull off to the shoulder and sure enough the trailer number was off by one digit at the end. My eyes scanned, but evidently stopped before the last digit. Luckily I had only driven about 30 minutes out on E I-70 and didn't get all the way to National Beef with a trailer full of carpets. Lol! 🤭😉

We truckers are all brothers who's blood is bonded by diesel. I once had a shipper give me the wrong trailer and I only verified the trailer number but not the destination because I didn't really think it was possible for a shipper to give me a wrong trailer. It was very confusing that they put the wrong trailer on the BOL but I was supposedly supposed to have an entire different shipment/BOL. I even told them where I was going and just assumed they had the intelligence to give correct shipment based on destination. So many unexpected unintentional traps to watch out for in trucking makes my head spin till my neck breaks.

"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice..." Such a fitting cliche to use earlier in the video, considering what you talked about at the end. A mistake was made. You cited details that contributed to the mistake. Now you have a first-hand experience with trucking that will make you more "seasoned". You never know when you'll end up in a similar situation again, or when an opportunity could come to pass that knowledge on to another trucker who hasn't had an experience like that before.

When I first started in trucking I was with a certain company with red trucks and a very English name(but no knighthood). Part of the training program involved forced teaming(ugh!). Well, I got teamed with a guy who was pretty confident, enough that I didn't feel the need to babysit him at least. We swap at a pick-up at a meat packing plant. I tell him we're picking up, where we're headed, had that GPS all set up, and I'd see him after my 10. Which I did. 500 miles down the road with an empty trailer because apparently I didn't specify enough that we need to pick up the product first before we, you know, start delivering it?! Mistakes happen, man. It won't be the end of the world. Hell, just the other day I had an Amazon order that, looking at the tracking, was put on a flight from Kentucky to Oregon, but then apparently someone scanned it but left it on the plane, because after getting to Oregon it turned right around and went back to Kentucky, and that's the company that prides itself with being the most efficient shippers. lol

oh man Dave that sucks I can somewhat relate once you backed into that spot I'm like: bet this is where his mistake happened yea man we all make big mistakes when I was a leader at Safeway yrs ago a few times the drivers would hand me paperwork but it was for another store idk how they screwed that up so what we ended up doing was calling the other store make plans with them I'd be like OK I'll be there in 20 minutes I'd load up our supplies into my vehicle (of course give them their order first) and go back to my store and several times the drivers would be like sorry Matt here's half our pay since you physically put their load of stuff in your car then went back for your stores correct stuff I'm like nah Don't worry about it just please pay attention to the store # on the paperwork my store is 797 ok thx !!

That end make me think what happened to 16113 if it didn't show up there in savanna is it still at the yard somewhere or did it go to Pennsylvania for another driver to find out 4 days later he had the wrong trailer

I work in a fleet shop and Ive screwed up by grabbing a sister trailer thats 1 or 2 digits off. Its like 200 ft to the shop an it pissed me off like crazy. I cant even imagine that happening otr.
