I love the idea of putting "waste" to productive use. We used our waste old twigs to lay in the bottom of a raised garden bed... Hugelkultur. And, the physical workout sure beats a gym membership!

It's a relief to me that there are decent people like yourself out there just being goodly for the sake of being goodly.

It would probably add a lot of stability to the wall of you were to tie the pairs of vertical posts together through the fence.

Great video, I love watching something that is normally regarded as a waste material turned into something useful. We have a similar brush pile in our neighborhood that I grab from to make biochar for our garden and chicken coop.

You could add a climbing flowering vine to the project to make it a living fence. Just be sure it's not kudzu, otherwise it'll take over your entire property while your back is turned.

Vines are nice, but you need a cut boundary

@@wobblysauce that's why I said don't plant kudzu. It grows at a rate of about a foot per day. Up or out it makes no difference to Kudzu. There are, however, numerous vines that prefer climbing up over spreading across the ground. Getting one of these would be best for fence management.

That’s a great idea, or a vining food plant like peas, pole beans, or cucumber would probably be able to use it as a trellis

The advantage of a live hedge being that they don't rot and collapse in 2-6 years.

Yup. They still need maintenance though with a process called pleaching. My initial idea was to use the dead hedge to buy time for a living hedge to grow. Then I moved. JB

Man, I wish I had a yard and access to that many sticks! I have been learning about southwest pottery from a channel called abdy wards ancient pottery. Id want to do a trench firing. And sonewhat related to that, I learned recently roughly what we know about how terra preta is made, charcoal, pottery sherds, bone. And i think they used the same trench pit to cook, fire terracotta, waste, and maybe did deoxygenated firings for things like iron based paints, which would require burying the fire. I thought you might be interested in trying that yourself. But otherwise, nice fence! You can also always recycle it for hugiculture gardening if it gets too worn down.

Dead useless sticks? Good for biochar or carchoal making.

Hi JB, being that people are super litigious and fearful of everything, has anyone complained to you or brought up the possibility of it being a fire hazard?
@GoodandBasic

I never got any complaints while I was living there. The fire hazard is not something I thought about at the time.
