How about papermache for bulk? The strips of paper makes them easy to wrap around the branches. You could try running the paper through a shredder. That might make it easier to mold if you take a bunch and dip them together so the become rope like. You can try hairspray to give the moss a shiny wet look. I don't know if the hairspray will give that effect but it does on hair so maybe it'll work.

You mention that it is dryer looking. The labyrinth was pretty moist. This one might be drying out or grew in a drier environ. Great build!

A few months ago I found a little cool cog thing and picked it up because it reminded me of your collecting of little gluey-onny things. Forgot the name you used for them.. think you said George Lucas coined it. Anyway it's still on my desk :P

Try Cornflour/cornstarch for your texture base - doesn't fizz like baking powder., works with CA glue as well.

Baking Powder is not the same as Baking Soda. Baking Soda is just sodium bicarbonate. Baking Powder is sodium bicarbonate mixed with an acid such as tartaric acid. Baking powder will become foamy any time it gets moisture in it, because that allows the two chemicals to do that acid and base reaction that kids love in science fair volcanoes (which creates an excess of water and salt). You very well might have been successful in the version one of the pseudo terracotta flower pot if you had used Baking Soda (unless the coloring is acidic, I guess.)

You're right. It seems hard to find pure Baking Soda here - I even ordered some online and when it came it was actually Powder! Bill Making Stuff definitely uses the Powder, but maybe the inclusion of sand as well inhibits the foaming up.
