What a beautiful card and a wonderful story time about Nathan's end of school year and end of elementary school activities. You are rightly proud of him! I think I started following you when he was 3 or 4, and how then you were so not ready for him to go to kindergarten at 5 lol! It's so great to hear all he's accomplished thus far! Please don't feel like you have to apologize for tearing up, you're part of a large group of us that do the same. I cried through my daughter's milestones and now those of my grandchildren too (plus movies, commercials or even a touching news article)! My husband used to tease me, now he knows it's not something I can control. We just show our emotions and there's nothing wrong with that. I was very touched by your story, thank you for sharing! ❤

Feel gratitude about the ability to cry. I have been virtually UNABLE to weep, sob, cry since about age 62. It's a wonderful relief, wish I still could. Uh, I am so here for the family, stories, anecdotes, sharing, AND great card technique!

Congratulations to Nathan on his graduation from Elementary school! These years do go so fast, and Kelly, when he’s the age of my sons (24 & 26), I would still love to have just 1 more day with them as a snuggly little one, even on one of their bad days. Luckily my boys have turned into amazing young men. And while their paths have not always been easy or been what I would choose for them, they both have amazing lives ahead of them. Remember that we raise our children to be able to express their feelings and opinions, sometimes it’s just hard on us parents when they don’t agree with us. lol

Thank for a beautiful card and story time. I'm a crier too. You had me in tears, I cry when I'm sad, lonely, scared, happy and listening or seeing someone else cry. I cry when I think of my parents & my pets that aren't here anymore. So girl you don't need to explain. Thanks Kelly for sharing your life and family with us.

Don‘t worry too much about the pictures (or lack thereof): I thought the same about my (now) 15-year-old (admittedly daughter) when she was that age - and now she is taking pictures of herself CONSTANTLY. Nice pictures, too. One of the (sometimes dubious) joys of smartphones 🙄 But I do have lovely pictures of her and all of us. And, between all the coolness and the prickling, they (my son is almost twelve) both do still come in for a cuddle every now and then. For my son, if in doubt, over some Star Wars of any way, shape or form. Oh, and I think crying and getting sentiment on those kind of occasions is part of mom‘s job description… kind regards from Germany, Nicola

Lovely card. I’m sitting here in the midst of chaos having moved house yesterday. The NBN connection (internet cable) isn’t working so hubby had to return to our old house - an hour away - to work (he works from home). I have no tv, no music set up etc. And I am SO SORE from lifting, moving etc. And I look like I’ve been in a fight: my health is fragile and I’m covered in bruises from lifting boxes and moving things around. Not to mention cuts and scrapes. And a paper cut (let’s be real, it’s a cardboard cut) right in the crease of my hand. So it was lovely to sit here, take a little time out, and listen to you this morning. And my dog agrees. She was on the couch beside me but wasn’t snuggling in. As soon as she heard your voice she snuggled in. I think you’re helping her adjust! Re sunscreen: good for you. Did you know sunscreen expires? If you use old sunscreen, it does not matter how much you use, you will get burnt. Also ignore those “reapply every 4 hours” instructions. If you’re vulnerable, reapply every hour. Some people are ok with every 2 hours but 4 hours is a joke. I know so many people who’ve been badly burnt because they believed the instructions. Look at types as well. Some sunscreens are stronger than others and some protect from different types of sun rays. I don’t fully understand that last bit but generally I rarely spend a whole day in the sun and remember SLIP, SLOP, SLAP. That was a Life Be In It commercial made in the 70s. The jingle goes “slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat”. I’m sure it’s on KZfaq if you want a bit of a laugh.

What a mile stone and what a transition for both your son and for you! Any child who struggles in school and reaches the point of moving on to a new school really should have a moment to appreciate their incredible accomplishments this world well, at least in the US the education system is not really geared towards boys so kudos to your son and kudos to your entire family for supporting him as you did! And the card is absolutely stunning!

I'll never forget field day...oh Lordy it's alway hot and sticky here in Texas. We were also lucky enough to watch our grandsons from six weeks til jr high, so we also got to do field day in our 60's for the boys. Still hot! Don't worry about crying, I teared up listening to you talk about it. Yes it's a great feeling to be so proud. Our two oldest graduated last year and I cried all the way through graduation. Mason is entering in his last year of middle school. His voice has been changing and I’ve been very sad about it. As for crying I’m on so much medication it’s hard to cry, unless someone else is crying then I get teary. It’s so beautiful to hear what others think of your children especially when it’s everything you want them to be. I’m so happy that Nathan has come into his own. I pray for his continued success in life.

Very pretty card. I totally relate to your feelings about your son growing up. I have one child who is now 16. These last few years have been really tough for me: he has distanced himself quite a bit as he is figuring out who he is. But we used to be pretty close and spend more time together. And I miss him a lot, even though he's asleep down the hall.

I raised my daughter in my own. No help or support from my ex. She was accepted at several colleges as a Natl Merit scholar. I wanted her to stay in town, but she went to a university that was a seven hour drive away. I drive her there. Helped carry in all her things to the dorm room. She was anxious for me to go. I was stoic through it all until I started to drive away. Started the car. And I burst into tears. Absolute meltdown. 😭

Love this card, Kelly! 🤩 My son is turning 9 next month, and going into 4th grade, so I'm in a similar boat as you. He'll officially be done with primary school, so it's only going to get more boring and tedious for him from here on out. He already does not like school. Unfortunately for me, he's not a cuddler, but he does sleep in my bed when his dad is out of town for work. He's our only child, which I think is what makes the time feel like it's screaming by!
