Today I finally decided to try to make a completely custom case for the well-known zippo lighter. And I must tell you, it turned out well!
In short, in the video you will see:
- an interesting way to take an impression from a lighter
- work with model wax
- casting of a lighter from brass and its processing

Thks a bunch Bonn, learned from this. How did you get the top piece and where was the mold when you were pouring the brass? Lastly I'm wanting to learn how to do basically this except just a standard shell in different metals, some precious. Could you give some tips? I thought it would be quite a bit harder than you make it seem though Im sure that has a lot to do with your experience and skill

This is so cool. I've made a few lighter sleeve and I always have a problem with them being to snug after casting. How do you compensate for shrinkage in the casting?

You use a handpiece and burr to remove some of the material from the inside

Он же не знает что зажигалки зиппо настраиваются таким образом чтобы между половинками корпуса небыло щели, именно в неё за пару дней уходит весь бензин... заправлять её нужно через день? Нет красиво и волшебно, но я бы понял такой корпус из золота, или хотя бы серебра, ну и ИМХО, может лучше было бы оставить родной корпус а сделать свой в виде чехла? или будет слишком тонко по стенкам и не прольётся?
