I had the idea to cut tiles from wood for quite a while-when i came across a pile of free plywood cut offs this week, i decided to give it a shot. Cutting these metro style tiles is pretty quick and a lot of fun! Aaaand it´s free :)

You have no idea how on point this idea is for me! I have a DIY store so plenty of plywood scrap for this, and I've literally just been talking to my gf about if what we would want to put on our last wall - tile strips or wood strips, but this I can do myself with all the materials at hand! Really impressed by how this turned out:) Keep up the great/inspirational work! Who cares I'm 2 years late on this:P

Bloody amazing !!!!!! I lived in Paris France for many years and you could build a house with all the wood and fittings people throw out !! Most of my furntiure came from trawling the streets at night with my dogs and dragging stuff home ! some of it weighed more than me ! But I left so much behind. Fantastic video thank you !!

This is absolutely brilliant Laura! I love that it is cheap to produce but I love it more that it was completely handmade to suit your direct need. It’s beautiful-utility. Your humble and honest approach to making is utterly inspiring. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hi Laura, I've been following you for some time now but I never dared to post a comment. I just wanted to thank you because you're proving with each of your videos that we girls can be makers, create things with our hands, love getting them dirty and globally do things that men """normally""" do. I find you so inspiring and given that I love crafting, DIYing and working with my hands, you're always a great source of inspiration because you're so creative, it's amazing! I wish one day I'll have your talent, you're a great motivation! Thank you for your content!! Tchüss aus Frankreich!

I'm a tile guy by trade and a woodworker at heart that has just found his motto - 'the best wood is free wood'!. Thanks for this simple, cool look. The (as we call them in the U.S.) subway tile style is still one of my favorites after all this time :)

I love the sideways thinking. It looks awesome! It feels like a strange choice to me because it took way more effort to do, and that surface profile is going to make it inconvenient to clean. I thought we use tiles in kitchens because they're hard wearing, heat and moisture resistant, and relatively easy to clean. Bigger tiles means fewer grout gaps to clean. Then you go and add them back in!

Leo Jackouski I would say this is more art than function. I love the idea and the creative use of wood that would normally be scrap.
