Boomerang Bags Rainbow Beach Australia here. I make a lot of the t.Shirt bags...they are my go to now...they hold so much...we also teach peeps how to do it......with kids we do the fringed bottom. they look so so cool. Great and informative as usual

My husband passed right at the beginning of Covid. I used his tee shirts to make masks with. We tie dyed most of them. I found a bunch of printed tee shirts that I'll use for these. I love such a quick and useful project. Thanks for sharing! PS I failed to mention that several years ago when my girls were still at home, we made pillows from some of their favorite tee shirts after they were outgrown. Great fun for all os us! Also, I've made some corduroy pants with French seams that actually look like the seams on jeans.

Loved "run only when chased." I really enjoy making reusable shopping bags. Thank you for pointing out the importance of pinning in the correct direction to prevent stretch! I usually don't think about it until I'm ripping the seam out to fix it 😢. Love your videos❤.

Thank you Tim. A couple of years ago, I made some of these. My first was way too long, as you discovered. When I offered them to my young adult children, they were not interested. I keep a few in my vehicle tailgate area. They come in handy. Two of my favorite uses: wet/sandy kayaking shoes or muddy hiking boots. My vehicle stays cleaner and the tee shirt bags can be shaken out and thrown in the wash. Of course the loaded tee is wet, but I place them on a special mat in my vehicle. ❤

You’re welcome. I wish I could remember the creator who first showed this to me, but lots of people have done them in the last few years so it could have been a few different folks. Enjoy!

The cut off bottoms of tube knit t shirts can be cut around and around in a spiral 3/4 to an inch wide, stretched so the Jersey edges turn inward to make a nice yarn. It’s a soft cord for the garden or can be woven on a child’s jersey looper loom to make sturdy hot pads.

Love it. Thinking how to box the bottom. No not box gusset! You explained that. So thank you

These are great! Kids love to decorate the bags made of white or light-colored materials with fabric markers. Also, tying one handle in a knot at least halfway down creates a “hobo” bag in which the longer handle can be passed under the shorter one, helping to close up the top to help with spillage, especially when full bags are placed in a car or trunk.

That makes a lot of sense!

By using tank tops instead would eliminate cutting off the sleeves.

The longer ones could be used as laundry bags if you need to go to the laundromat or kids in college to keep dirty clothes together then wash it with the clothes .

If I do these I think I would put light weight fusible interfacing on the main part of the bag. That would help with stretching. But again maybe I wouldn’t. I procrastinate a lot. Thank you for a very interesting and useful video. ❤😊

I would use the serger on some of the edges.
@timothytotten94093 ай бұрын
Good idea! I don’t use a serger too often in tutorials because not everyone has one but I have to remember to mention them as an option in future videos.

Sewing is better than the version that fringes the bottom and ties them in knots to seal the bottom.
@timothytotten94093 ай бұрын
I hadn’t seen that version. But I tend to agree. The longer one took a lot of groceries and that would really test that tied version.
@roli33423 ай бұрын
@@timothytotten9409 i have a tied bottom version and it's pretty sturdy - the only drawback is the inside bottom is quite nubbly

I made these bags but instead of sewing the bottom I put slits in and tied the bottom. I gave them away at a food pantry.

The style of those plastic bags are called t-shirt bags. So that is where the name is from. But a great way to recycle.
@conniedeshazo30313 ай бұрын
The extra large shirt would be fine if you shortened it before you sewed it closed
@timothytotten94093 ай бұрын
Yeah, it would. I decided against it though because I preferred the other material. I may still go back to it. Couldn’t bear to throw it away.
