1. Carry an empty water bottle. You can almost always have it filled at a restaurant/ water fountain for free. 2. Carry sunscreen, lots and lots of it. 3. Carry cash as almost all taxis will rarely take cards 4. Everything is very expensive in Paris except for luxury goods(ironical) on which you can save a ton on both taxes as well as the base price itself
@Weega_
@Weega_ 2 жыл бұрын
If you’re on a small budget, I recommend taking the subway instead of taxis because French taxis and more especially Paris taxis are known to be quite expensive. So yes, it’s not as comfortable but it’s less expensive and you can go almost everywhere in Paris with it. :)

@@wandelgartking5446agree!!! Is not a big difference, considering that Paris is a touristic city, I thought it would be more expensive to be honest.

I too messed up regarding my shoes. I knew we would walk quite a lot but had no idea to what extent my feet would get destroyed. I had to purchase new shoes but also went to the pharmacy for additional soles and padded band aids. I recommend bringing a hat, cap or scarf of some sort. It can get windy especially at night. Bring warm socks as well. I tend to get cold feet and they helped a ton with sneakers or to wear in bed. If you wish to sightsee, bring a small backpack (but wear it in the front). We used it to put our water bottles, snacks, travel book, metro guide, camera, sun screen, hand sanitizer and yes...a small box of kleenex (some bathrooms had no tissue).

Problem with good skin care is, that I fall in love with a product and then have to spend a fortune to carry on using it at home. So I generally do not buy things abroad that I use on a regular base.

And for the love of God, leave the horrible berets at home. How to spot an American woman in Paris? Well they'll wear a random, out of place beret and probably a scarf around their neck too. I lived in Paris for a year and the only ones wearing those berets are American women. The second hand embarrassment is real
@oyasumilunlun
@oyasumilunlun 2 жыл бұрын
why though? as a french person living in paris i really dont mind the berets, it looks fine or can even be cute if someone is trully enjoying them while on vacation. people literally don't care whether you wear them or not, it's only embarrassing to you because they stick out and you're not french haha, it's fine. french people abroad sometimes do stuff that seems really embarrassing to me too, it's just the way that is

Smh.. let them wear whatever they want and enjoy their vacation in peace
@LinneAzalea
@LinneAzalea 2 жыл бұрын
@@oyasumilunlun Obviously people are allowed to wear whatever they want. I exaggerated for the purpose of the comment. Sure it's a pet peeve of mine, but it's less about the berets and more about the fact that American women only do this because they think it's what French people look like. They buy these outfits, without looking up how French women even dress, simply because they're going to France and they want to look French. It's not my country but I'd be annoyed if tourists dressed up as almost some kind of caricature of my people. The berets can of course look nice with the right look, so obviously there can (and exist) way worse appropriation

@oyasumilunlun
@oyasumilunlun 2 жыл бұрын
@@LinneAzalea you're really pushing it by saying appropriation, i honestly think what works in your country doesnt forcibly works in others. i appreciate someone trying to look french even if it's a caricature as long as it's not intended to be a bad one, even if it's made to be taken seriously it's funny, there's literally nothing offensive about it. tourists are tourists for a reason, you don't have to assimilate most of the culture of a country when you're going on a seven days trip and it's perfectly fine this way, of course it's appreciated but most people dont really mind unless it's something super nasty or not socially acceptable. wearing whatever you want during your trip is really none of the two. hell, i'd even go as far as to say that seeing tourists in old french dresses and garments would make my day for the better, i know you guys in the us have a problem with cultural appropriation, but here this kind of thing is considered appreciation. you're not claiming it's yours by no means, you're just trying it out for a bit and have fun doing it. i get that you've said it's a pet peeve or yours but you're making a problem out of something that isn't really a problem in the first place to me.
