Is that a permeable driveway? I thought I heard you say something about gravel or something like that being in between the bricks. The owners know what their driveway needs and should look like.

Oil stain - Fuller's Earth, a hydrous alum silicate. Its the clever bit in Spanish Granules. You put it on like a paste leave it for a day then rinse it off. The oil migrates into the FE paste. It's used in cleaning decades of pollution off important buildings and other construction uses. 😊

Sid. I clean several restaurants here in the states and the product that I use to melt away the food grease is caustic potash(potassium hydroxide)KOH and the product I use to remove oil and diesel fuel is caustic soda (lye)sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) it is fairly regulated over here and I suspect it is there as well. NaOH is the base used for most commercial degreasers over here. I buy the caustic soda beads in a 50#US bag and the caustic potash liquid on a five gallon US carboy container. Best of luck.

Great video. I think the chemical and you both did a fantastic job on that oil stain. The driveway’s size alone made it a huge project. When you previewed it last week, we could see it was a big driveway. I was gobsmacked when washing it exposed that thick layer of mud you had to deal with as well. You and Kevin did a great job!

That oil remover is fantastic. I can hear my dad saying lighter fluid and fire to get out that last bit deep in the pores but considering how close that area is to the main structure I'd say no. If the client is happy, let it go. He can always replace the stones if it bothers too much. Remember to send the before and afters to the company. A LOT of work but well worth it. It's lovely.

Great job Sid, I’ve done a few permeable drives and that one looked like it was bedded on mud! Also, the whole drive was too low with the grass being at the same level, consequently it’s supplying the drive with a constant supply of dirty water. At least, that’s what it looks like. Don’t think anyone could have done any better with the oil stain. As a last resort, I advise clients to have cleaned but stubborn blocks lifted and swapped for clean ones from elsewhere and in less obvious positions.

Two things with oil, some of those permeable blocks can be flipped, not all are suitable it’s brand dependent but always worth checking. On a property that size I’d have looked for somewhere less obvious to swap the blocks once clean, I do a lot of block swapping you just have to charge for the time it takes. Good job though.👍

You can use a poultice on that oil stain by the garage door and let it absorb the oil from the paver. There's several brands but basically you are taking a very dry compound and it draws the oil to the drier poultice material You can make your own poltice using diatomaceos earth. Great time to put it on now you have opened up the pavers to breathe. Nice work and I like your rigs. Stay safe.

I stained my pavers once when I forgot to tighten an oil filter on my car during a change, spilt 3 litres straight out onto drive Found laundry powder works really well sprnkled over to clean greasy hands if your mucking around with equipment or ir to break down oil on pavers or concrete with a little water to activate, after 3 treatments you couldn't tell it had oil on it at all. Dishwashing liquid also has degreaser in it but laundry powder seems to be stronger and more effective

I love the way those stones in the garden, the ones by themselves, are like little islands. Sid, you should try brushing the stones beforehand on any other jobs. Try it dry and wet. This should give you an idea of the amount of muck you are going to have to deal with. From one cleaner to another. You did a fantastic job on this. I don't know what chems you have in the UK for grease on stone but that came out great. You should be proud of this job!

Two things that massively help on jobs like this, pre-wet the entire surface, wet moss comes out much better when wet so you can use the FSC and that produces far less crap and should be quicker. Also get some squeegee brooms, don’t use brushes to clear mud up.👍
