Hi, my way was to use a guitar soft bag. For a tenor you need a semihollow guitar bag , for an alto a bag fot strat or tele guitar is good. All you have to do is to make 4 holes, two for your hands, one for the neck and another one for the ring . The critical point is the neck hole, you must give some attention for the octave key not to be blocked. You have also enough space left for additional sound absorbing material. keep playing sax.

What about the open-foam rings that are available? The ones in a set of 3, where one sits just below the mouthpiece one in the bottom of the neck and a 3rd in the bell? Are they any good?

I use quiet mouthpiece, place sax in sax mute and inside the box, play in the closet, now it doesn't sound. What do I do wrong?

@@Learning2Sax Well, it IS a method to make the sax quieter (I'm refering to the title). For me, there is some distance with the neighbours, but in the morning it's to loud for my own ears. But indeed, if you'd like to make the sax quieter for the neighbourhood, it's definately not a sollution.
