I have dabbled a little with the biking side on my trucking channel and after watching a few of your videos I aim to do a lot more and maybe start a seperate biking channel. Scenary in this video is second to none and you are very brave doing this alone, i do like driving in Scotland but it's in a truck so you don't get that up close and personal feeling with it. Keep up the good work and you have gained another subscriber. Stay safe, Ride safe Jenko

It’s great to be spontaneous but there’s so many additional people taking holidays and trips in Scotland that the infrastructure is getting strained, particularly around ferry’s and accommodation . Those roads around the lochs can be very long and if you take a wrong turn you can end up on a detour of many hours. That route up the West coast is spectacular though. Ferry guru was right, you had been lucky with the weather. We had a tent destroyed by the wind on the Western Isles! Good luck!

Good on your for knowing when to rest up. There's this check that the IAM tells you to do before riding (and during a long ride) - "P.O.W.D.E.R.S". Petrol, Oil, Water, Damage, Electrics, Rubber (i.e. tyres), Self. I think a lot of people forget the "self" bit, so it's always a good idea to consider your state of mind and decide whether you can get out of your funk before starting/carrying on or whether it's time for a rest or even to stop.

You were very lucky there Saffy. When we went to Mallaig we got told under no circumstances were we going to get on the ferry today if we hadn't booked, we would have to book for tomorrow now. The habour master was quite rude about it dispite me being nice a possible to try and chance his mind. We ended up going to the Isle of Mull instead. Next time I'll just go to the Kyle of Lochalsh and use the bridge instead. I was quite disappointed and upset by the Mallaig habour master. There’s always a fine balance between planning things to death and not quite planning enough for the unexpected. Lucky save with the ferry, but as you said, even if you had to pitch your tent in a field near the ferry and cross the next morning, it’s not going to be the end of the world.

On my LEJOG I had booked the ferry to Skye but they cancelled my 12 o’clock and could only offer me the 6 o’clock to Skye. I was recounting this to another biker on the ferry to Dunoon who said I should look to use the turntable ferry to get onto Skye…. What a fateful and fantastic opportunity that was…. A much nicer ride to the little turntable ferry and a unique experience to boot. Sometimes as they say when life gives you lemons…..!!

love your vlogs,,calmac ferry,s are a nightmare, unfortunally the have most of the scottish isle,s tied up,,,,make me laugh about English people on holiday an say they missed the ferry,,,there has been a bridge over to Skye for about 20 years,,i am an engineer and have worked for diageo for years so i spent some time on Skye at the Talisker distillery

I was aware of the bridge, and I took the bridge home, the problem was that by this point I was just too physically tired to go on for another 3 hours. I slept so badly the night before and I was already struggling by the time I got to the Dock. I had already made the decision that if I couldn't get the ferry across, I was just going to pitch a tent nearby and go to sleep at 6pm. I was geniunelly that tired

I hope you went to the Quiraing ,I see you got to the fairy glen,on Skye. Most ferries in Scotland will accommodate bikes just turning up,except maliag . An your right our country is spectacular an I’m blessed to live here, hope you have a good time,an mind the saying here in Scotland about water ( as we do have plenty) “ over two stands an it’s fresh, dinae worry aboot the colour just smell it” if it good enough for the beasts it’s good enough for us.💁‍♂️👦🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏍
