Having a doula and a supportive birth partner increases the likelihood of natural childbirth. I had my child naturally at 39 years old and it was fine. More black woman should become doulas.

I was drugged with epidural and I heard a midwife saying, going by my records, I needed an injection because of my fibroids. Fortunately, my husband was present and asked, "if my wife has fibroids, why are we only finding out now? He took the records from the midwife's hands, read it and discovered it wasn't my records. I always image what would have happened if he was here.

Your story causes anxieties and flashback from my own story. I remembered telling my partner i will never be in this vulnerable position again ever. The doctor that saved me told my partner we have right to sue the hospital for negligence . We didn't do anything because we thought how can you go against hospital? we regretted not doing anything. I can't even start to elaborate what happened😢. This happened in Australia.

They just don’t have regard for black people even in Africa itself. This is very true. This can happen in Africa as well. The African nurses and Doctors pay more attention if the person is white than they do to their own black people. This very common in Accra Ghana. Most of them warship the white skin.

Sorry about your experience. As a nurse from Ghana and Nursing in the UK, just to clarify, antibiotics is not used to induce labour. Pregnant women are offered C -Section if there is a risk to the baby or mother. With all surgical procedures, unfortunately there is the risk of infection and even death and this is explained to patients before consent is signed. With regards to the appendix, it serves no purpose so it is better removed if there is a problem. I are agree there are disparities in maternity care. In ITU patients don't have screens or curtains because they are constantly monitored in case they deteriorate. The curtain will be drawn for privacy when being washed. ITU is a busy place with very sick people therefore sadly babies are not allowed there but parents allowed some bonding as with your situation. Unfortunately there is high maternal death rate in Ghana too with some ugly medical stories too. We can talk about the UK because statistics are kept on these and something is being done to improve this . Hospitals don't offer C-section because they want to make or for pay increase for anyone. I can confidently tell you that from my 20 years experience working in the UK. The NHS does care . There are bad nuts in healthcare everywhere. I had C-section here in the UK and it was a mutual decision to do CS . I understand you had a difficult experience but unfortunately these things do happen in life. My mum died in a hospital in Ghana at night after my brother visited and he was not informed until he went the next morning to visit. Things like this will not happen in the UK .

I agree with u 100%. I've had 3 c-section. 1st one was an emergency as i was induced for 5days and baby still wasn't coming. They went through and explained what would happen if i didn't get the baby out ASAP. They gave me an extra day to try natural birth but the baby wasn't coming lol so i had to go through c-section. The last 2 was my personal choice plus theyvtried to make me have a natural birth but i said no as with c-section I got to choose the day and also i felt more in control of having my babies. Im sorry u went through all that

Those nurses including their manager will reap. The way they treated u and the manager's response is totally unacceptable and unethical. I'm a nurse and a proud one too. I know fir a fact that in my 33 years of nursing I have NEVER treated any of my patients like they were just objects. My dad and my mum died in the hands of those animals (nurses who are just there for salary). Each and evey one of us who made patients cry because of our satanic attitude/ill-treatment shall surely reap what we sow. Forgive them all baby gal, and let God be.

She is absolutely correct, I've seen the same behavior in the US. I worked on the postpartum - mother and children's unit for 2 years and the way the nurses treated American African women was disturbing. Mothers in pain were mocked and joked when complaining of pain and sometimes were ignored. I had to speak up a lot as a tech and advocate in a lot of situations. I seen so many cases turn into c-sections that could've delivered natural which is ridiculous. Those doctors push c- sections for more money and a lot are lazy and don't want to deal with the process. I had all 3 of my children natural I prayed to never have a c-section and refused pain medication in all my children's birth. I kept myself home and dealt with most of my labor until the most I could tolerate in my comfort of my house. My first daughter my water broke while home well trickled about 3 p. I didn't go to the hospital until about 12a until the pain was intolerable and my daughter was born naturally at 4:30 that morning. 6 years later my 2nd daughter was born I felt labor pains one morning while getting my first born ready for kindergarten and I held that pain until my daughter was off to school. After putting her on the bus, I showered made it to the hospital at 8:30 a and my 2nd daughter was born at 9:06 that morning naturally and of course no pain meds due to how quickly she came....Now fast forward 10 years I birthed my 3rd, last child my son whose delivery was way harder. I still vowed to have him naturally due to my constant fear of a c-section. I seen as a teen my sister son was a c-section baby and her labor in Brooklyn NY was horrible. She carried him 41almost 42 weeks and they pumped so much medicine in her until her stomach turned so black and it seemed they took forever to admit her in even though she was way over due.... but anywho with my son my labor was induced a week before my delivery date due to fluid being found around his heart on a sonogram they found later close to my due date. I went in the hospital on schedule at 7am no rooms were available until about 9a that morning. I was in active labor but wasn't feeling any pain until about 12p that afternoon, I asked to get out of bed I wanted to stand and dance out my contractions and they let me, I couldn't lay down the pain was hitting my back like crazy. When the time came I was back in bed in the regular pushing position but nothing was progressing. The doctor suggested I try the all fours position which you get on your hands and knees in bed and push and ommmgggg that was the worse pain I ever felt in my life . His head was out and I was stuck and almost gave up pushing the shoulders were the hardest in that position and I almost tapped out. If it wasn't for his father and my sister being in the room with me and coaching me I don't know what would've happened but WE survived and my first/last boy was born at 1:23p that afternoon on the 23rd of a summer month at that lol. I'm proud to say to say I was able to birth all my babies naturally without epidurals only because I was scared of the needle but weirdly not all the pain I felt lol and I prayed not to ever endure a c-section because recovery time for some mothers after is rough, pregnancy and childbirth is a scary but beautiful thing. To all my future moms have prayers and plans for your childbirth and educate yourself on every aspect of giving birth. Blessings to all mothers our strength is impeccable!!

The best part of delivering a baby is having a good OBGYN. Mines was with me throughtout my preganacy, was told to call him when i went into labour and he delivered my baby.
@one800flyguy
@one800flyguy 10 ай бұрын
I’m glad you had such a great experience with your OBGYN and I congratulate you. But what sadden me a little was you thought that was the best part of you delivery. May I rephrase that the best part of your BIRTH was the miracle of your pregnancy the ability of your body to build another life then the amazing power it released to birth this life without taking yours. The other amazing peace to that is if you totally trusted your body and the creator that lives in you, you could have birth this life without assistance but simply with safety family friends all supporting you. In the western world pregnancy and birth have become medicalized. Also Remember doctors are trained in treating diseases not even in prevention and health. So is pregnancy is a NORMAL Physiological Response to a life growing inside us and we are not SICK why on earth do we need a doctor. All over the world babies are born with midwives and they have far better outcomes than the USA and other highly developed countries. Think about it. If we were doing everything so right why are our death and morbidity rates in the toilet in comparison to the rest of the world 🌎!!! We have to stop believing the medical lies and take our lives into our own hands and do things differently. I didn’t mean to rant on here but I’m a nurse who has worked with birthing people for years and see ALL the disparities and now trying to get the message out there through education of birthing people of their choice. Please take this as kindly as it was sent. Blessings.

The Appendix is part of your immune defense.
@nanaasafu-adjaye4239
@nanaasafu-adjaye4239 10 ай бұрын
An appendix is generally seen as “vestigial” - already served its purpose in the evolution of an organism, in this case, Man. And so generally speaking, during open abdominal surgery the procedure takes the surgeon anywhere it’s located in the right lower abdomen & the surgical team is skilled & prepared to take out an appendix too the opportunity is taken to remove it since that rules out one potentially medical emergency - acute appendicitis, when later down the line there’s severe lower abdominal pain. In such a case one can confidently tell the doctors you have no appendix. On the other hand, it appears before surgery it was discussed if the surgical team could go ahead to remove the appendix & you declined giving that consent. So, that makes this particular situation a matter of ethics … Just my 2-cents listening to the intro

Smart & definitely dynamic young lady, praying for God’s wisdom & direction in her life. But there are so many topics for further discussion & for the general public’s enlightenment generated by this video to tackle all at once. Hoping with more input in the comments, justice will be done to the various points touched on here. Not an easy topic(s) for any interviewer to handle adequately without preparation, but hoping more objective-ness comes out from these discussions too

Is not so much as having "all black birth centre", but rather more of our people being in those professions and understanding our race and providing a fair service to our people. But as with everything, sometimes is our own people that can also provide you with a bad service and experience, which is somehow more painful than if it was to be somebody of other colour.

Hey Jay, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Children are a gift. This is one of the reason i left the church. Too much judging. Your story will help other young people who are experiencing the same. How can it be a sin if children are a gift??? You continue championing for women to have natiral births. The hospital environment is clinical and cold and is all about control. Although there has been sine changes in the environment to make it more welcoming. But at the end of the day it is a business so there are targets and time constraints They have you lying on your back instead of you stooping and allowing gravity to work its magic. Walking and crouching is better than lying on your back while doctors/nurses look, peer, prod and interfere in a beautiful natural phenomena. I had my daughter in hospital but without drugs. So she was born wide awake and looking around. My son was also birthed in hospital but i was 18 and had no control. I didnt know my rights. I was induced by breaking my waters and offered gas and air. He was born asleep because of the gas and i was on my back practically. I am also not ashamed of him & dont see him as a sin. I am so fed up with these religious finatics who want us to suffer with guilt and shame because we had a child out of wedlock and young. I am now in my late 50s and dont regret my son. He brought joy to our lives. You continue to advocate for young african women to know their rights and choose how they will have their babies. There is definitely a depopulation agenda aimed specifically at the Albukulan community and we as women need to be aware if it so we can make the right choices for ourselves. Whilst in labour having my daughter I heard the.mention of a c section, which caused me to tear because i was determined not to have a cs . my daughter was birthed naturally. I personally believe the nurses were tired or fed up or their shift was ending and could not be bothered to wait for me to deliver naturally hence the whispers. There is also the agenda for us women to feed our babies cows milk instead of breast. I breast fed both my childten. I do wish i.knew more as i would never have allowed them to be caccinated. A baby is born pure and the first year of their life should not contaminated by drugs or infected with desease. Who knows what the long term effects are! We are the live unsuspecting guinea pigs to be experimented on. Medical negligence is the third cause of death in the usa, I heard this said from a doctor. We need to start thinking for ourselves, use our brains that the creator gave us and start critical thinking by asking questions so we can make informed choices about our bodies and what it is that is going into it. A lot of these medical practitioners are paid bonuses on top of their normal salaries to prescribe certain drugs, which often come with side effects. Many of these diseases we are now experiencing in our so called civilised world is a result of stress lifestyle and most deseases can easily be remedied by changing lifestyle and eating the right foods. Medical Aparteid is a good book to start reading. Thank you J for sharing your story. Some of your story resonated with me❤

Typical of the present generation …. Think they know it all when they clearly DON’T! On what basis is she offering birthing advice?? Has she studied midwifery to offer safe clinical advice?? ! Not everyone can have a natural birth. When labour is compromised, intervention is required to have both mother and baby safe. She sounds incredibly ill-informed to say the least! And please don’t play the race card at every turn. Gets really tiresome and what you say then loses a measure of credit. Furthermore to have left home at 15, clearly issues in the home. Don’t demonise the white with your default victim narrative and mindset, whilst failing to look into your own issues and address them. It’s what will help with having the right perspective and outlook instead of always playing the race card, whilst being blinded to your own issues that’s causing the problem to begin with. And no one’s judging but if you bring the Most High in …. He would surely want y’all to be married. Glad she left the hospital well with her baby boy.

No thanks, I don't subscribe to nonsense, Not judging, but too often our young women feel the need to open their legs rather or faster than books, and then try to justify being single moms. in my day's if you got a girl pregnant you married her, end of story, what did she know about life at 16 to be talking about toxic relationships, oh yes the famous chorus and cop out clause. @ 16 she did not know that unprotected sex leads to pregnancy ? no wait " the condom broke" cos he was hung like a horse 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That’s very true ,I very much with what she is saying , more needs to be done . Who is that Athletic who died in child birth in America not long ago . Now every pregnant woman birth canal don’t work the same , if birth canal is not adequate , you can push all day and baby still not able to pass trough , plus the Mom gets tired in distress and cause mother and baby distress , that person will end up with C-Section .

A former CVS pharmacist here, I quit after my first day! Ppl, it’s BAD! I was so busy on my first day I was afraid I would mix up prescriptions and harm someone. It was so terrible I quit before losing my license over malpractice. They have metrics we have to meet whiles being understaffed! At the end of the day, corporate heads are making decisions that are not even related to patient safety, all they want is profit. YALL ITS THAT BAD!

There are lots of black doctors. But babies are delivered by midwives in the UK. There used to be more black midwives. The statistics about black mothers dying is from United States. The higher incidence of CSection is for doctors to get more practice or to fulfill the quota for practice.. ITU is indeed traumatic for everyone who experiences it. One reason it is so difficult on patients mental health is becaiuse there is lots of equipment noises, the lights are kept on for the nurses to see what the equipment is saying and the sleep,is not natural due to the use of sedatives. Being in a place for 2 weeks with very little natural sleep will lead to nightmares. Sorry you had to go through all that at such a young age. Wishing you all the best for the future and in Ghana. ❤❤🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Natural birth is not possible, at that age, because your birth canal is very narrow. Many young girls experience complications. The medical staff experience a lot of problems. I don't say that the medical staff are innocent. It is not an easy profession. It needs a lot of patience.

Unfortunate to go through such difficulty in a developed nation. But most Ghanaians are worried about where to get their next meal. The healthcare in Ghana is almost non existent and prenatal and postnatal services for women is so bad. When you come from the west to a country like Ghana you have an advantage over the ordinary Ghanaian hustling daily just to find a place to lay their head at night and a decent meal for a day. They don’t have the advantage to have a KZfaq channel to make even a little money. No free accommodation no help from the government. I pray that Ghana will get to a point to help its’ citizens. Underage pregnancy, unmarried underage Ghanaians is a huge problem. Social media is definitely having so much negative effect on young Ghanaians and older Ghanaians. This world is getting difficult.

I will make quite a bit of post on this one. My young sister is correct about many things she said, people don’t like to read so I will break it up. I’m from the USA, brother let me ask you this why do you feel that things are so good in Uk? Not for our people 36:49 because white supremacy dominates this world because we as a African people choose not to rule. Our strength is in working together.

I’m a Ghanaian in the United States and I’m very sorry to hear you went through this experience at a hospital in Ghana…traumatic. I know for a fact that what you experienced is not the practice at every hospital in Ghana, nevertheless, your statements here need reach our healthcare professionals for them to improve on their shortcomings, especially, hearing it from a patient’s own mouth. So, I’ve forwarded your story to two different Ghana healthcare authorities that I know with the hopes that their continuous education program would factors in some of the FACTS you laid out here, in your traumatic post-operative care story. It gives them a room to improve on. I’m glad that you’re doing well now, and hopefully, your baby, also. Ghana is HOME…it offers many of life’s natural environments for especially us, the blacks to live and feel living. It is however important to note that the Ghanaian health system is still in the making, and keeps on improving. …it is a process.🙏🏿

I went for removal of an enlarged ovary. Day before the op, surgeon came to my bedside I started to ask questions regarding the procedure, the african doctor after seeing white patient sat down with me, I ask my first question how are you going to cut me? The doctor jumped out of his chair making it fall over and shouted at me " you made me leave my wife and kids to answer bloody questions" he then stormed off . Well I was crying and packed my bags and left. I submitted a complaint and was shocked to receive a letter from NHS chief executive saying they don't tolerate patients being abusive towards doctors. I had no words so Dr Nzgosi had obvious ly lied against me and the african nurse that witnessed it all, and told me to put in a complaint, she was silenced too! She said she never saw anything... I was too weak after operation took place later with a different surgeon to continue the case. Years later I heard that doctor lost his wife and kids and had mental depression and lost his job! God is good!!

Is it because of all what you went trough with abdominal surgery , with iv central line in your neck etc , so even though you sedated to help with pain , lifting you with special lift can he still uncomfortable . Seem like these nurses had no empathy . Some like to treat Black folks as drug seekers . Same goes for some young patients suffering Sickle Cell Anemia who are in Crisis . And the pains they go trough are underestimated calling them pain seekers . They do Not understand much of Sickle Cell .I have family member with sickle cell not often he has crisis , when he does o see what he goes trough , it becomes a critical medical emergency . Attendants , please treat your patient with Dignity and Care , 🩺the way you love your family to be treated .🩺😍

I am white and was also badly damaged by the nhs. The nurses were very rough and inconsiderate. They were white. I was treated very badly. I witnessed other patients being treated that way. I think just assuming things are done for racial reason is wrong. I had a black doctor who was very angry that these things had happened and my Indian doctor said that these surgeons think they are gods and he was also very angry. The staff were various races. The surgeon who damaged me was Middle Eastern.
