I cook outdoors every single day of the year. It's time for a real, outdoor kitchen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because I’ve gotten so many questions about the gear that I use on the channel, here are some of the most important pieces I use every day:
(I do receive a small commission from sales associated with the following links. Any income from these sales goes directly to supporting me in making new videos for this channel!)
**I will not share links to products that I don't use regularly or that I wouldn't buy again.**
36" Granberg Alaskan mill amzn.to/3IXsYNM
Granberg Small Log mill amzn.to/3cdRXvn
Granberg EZ Rail system amzn.to/3LbMxSl
Big, Black Log-Peeling Knife - Becker BK9 amzn.to/3oZIeOH
Heater I use in the shower amzn.to/3PUzhU6
My favorite piece of gear: chainsaw helmet amzn.to/3uuW5xB
I’ve tried a lot of work gloves and these are my year-round fav’s amzn.to/3TnH3pu
The trailer I use behind my four wheeler Yutrax amzn.to/3fvO8DK
The noise canceling earbuds that fit under my muffs amzn.to/3QwoS0Z
Small WiFi microscope I use for bugs and mushrooms amzn.to/3yQciT9
Thank you all so much for supporting this crazy endeavor! Without you folks donating to Surviving Ringworm, I wouldn't be able to even consider staying out here in the wilderness a THIRD year making videos. You seriously blow my mind!

Chest freezer with a bar fridge thermostat set to 36 degrees. The standby power on the inverter will far outstrip the cooler. (Still looking for a solution that will just turn the inverter off and on.)

You should have a woodstove in every building. There may come a day when you wont be able to get propane for whatever reason. Even if dont use them, they could keep you from freezing to death.

Brother, you should look into renting some goats for a month near the end of summer, just before first frost. They will clear your property of all fauna and shrubbery as high as they can reach. It will leave the forest floor clean, viewable and walkable. You will have to clean up any dead debris or larger trees you don't want, but the goats will eat everything green everywhere you let them go.

You could grow all of your veggies even in the winter. Read this book- The Sprout Book by Doug Evans. It is probably on audible. Sprouts are way more nutritious than the adult plants. You can order the seeds on line and then just store them until you are ready to sprout them. You sprout them in mason jars as needed. Quick and easy and cheap to do. Great survival food and grest way to get super nutritious food when you can’t get to a supermarket.

It is a suggestion that you could have a project that could do you well. Make a Kiln, and storage building. You could have all your cut lumber in one spot and set up a log rest for your mill. What an idea, sorted dry lumber, all in one spot, you would know what you have and the ability to know what you need to generate for each project. What a concept!

I live in a travel trailer, and I'm wondering if you've considered a 3-way fridge that can run on propane or 12V. I have a small one. It doesn't use much power/fuel and is pretty handy. Might be able to keep your veggies fresh a little longer.

Went to a BlackStone griddle 5 years ago... TOTAL GAME CHANGER!!! It's the primary cooking source in my 40' Retired Air Force Ambulance Bus, I've been in for 7 years full time. A 20 pound propane bottle last me 8 months to a year. (But, I've been on and off a flat top since the 80's, so it was second nature) A side Lean-To on your cabin would be perfect location, except for animals... but, you could build an Expanded Steel Cage to flip over and fasten down!

I just found your videos, and have watched quite a few. Nice camera work, and a fun ride. I’ve just started on a similar adventure with a very old house, in a tiny town. Lots of 100-200 acre bush lots around here and have always considered doing a similar thing for a bush camp. One thing I might comment on is Coleman white Gas lamps. Over the years I’ve owned and used many, and one of the big advantages of the gas lamps is the amount of heat they produce, especially the double mantle large ones. Often one of these lamps will warm up a small space perfectly. These lamps are plentiful at flea market/garage sales, and 1 gallon of fuel stores for years and the lamps are very efficient. The only downside is they are a little noisy, but excellent heat source.

When you mentioned the vegetables my first thought was that you could just can stuff up. Lots of veggies without the need for refrigeration. Also, you can make your own fast convience food for when you don't have the time to start the fire, cook... There are pressure cookers that you can just put on a grill. The only thing you need other than the normal canning equipment is space for the jars to cool down protected from the wind. Also, I wondered why you never build an oven given that that is a relatively fast and easy build but the woodburning stove clearly explains that...

I recommend you get some plate steel and weld yourself a rocket stove wok burner for your outdoor kitchen. You'll be able to use all the little wood scraps you burn as garbage to cook, and right now, with the high heat a wok needs to be awesome. The wok is a very versatile item. I use one on my canoe camping trips over the camp fire to cook pretty much everything.
