I woke up to Chief, our mini horse, having something going on with his eye. In this video, I’ll show you the farm call by our vet and let you know what’s going on with Chief. #family #homesteading #farmanimals #minihorse

Wow 😯 GREAT JOB Brandi at paying attention and noticing something wrong with our Chief of the Animals❣️Lol 😅 I am so relieved that it was as minor as it was, cuz I worried when I saw it that it could be pink eye, and the Animals definitely DONT NEED that❣️Thank you 🙏🏻 and God bless 🤲🏻 each and every one of you❣️I LOVE 💕 ADMIRE 😍 your SOFT, GENTLE, CARING & LOVING 🥰 way that YOU ARE WITH ALL OF YOUR ANIMALS❣️That’s that GENUINE MOTHERLY WAY YOU HAVE, and it is BEAUTIFUL to watch❣️❄️🎄😁🎄❄️

Brandi, I'm so glad you take such good care of all of your animals. I have a pony who when I bought him (at an auction), I found that he was never treated for something in his eye and it had been injured by the foreign object. Eventually, I had to have the eye removed. So, you did the right thing there. A little care and expense prevents a LOT of care and expense.

@countitalljoy20237 ай бұрын
The farrier that comes out to see them says the halters are the appropriate size. Our challenge is when we take Eddy’s off, it is so hard to get it back on him. He doesn’t enjoy being handled as much as chief does 😞

@@countitalljoy2023 Thank you for explaining why. When a horse doesn’t want to be caught you’ve got next to no chance of catching them 😂 I’m new here so I don’t know what you’ve tried before. Forgive me if I sounded like a “Karen” 😂💗

Has Dutch done any seeding? Even grass seed will grow back there for your yard. It amazing what some grass seed does even though you don't think it'll help much for a yard but what does come up will thicken as time goes on. You guys need some sort of a base even though it may seem hopeless. The sun will hit it in the spring and boom you'll have a start to lawn in your yard. Trust me, we built our house in the heavily wooded woods and it got pretty dang nice back there. It looked like a park. We lived way north where it gets very cold with lots of snow so you should have great luck with your temps and sunshine. Just make sure u keep bugging Dutch to do it when it's the right time for your area.

You did right by calling the vet. Eyes are like yours nothing to fool with. That big of a piece needed a vet. And a little happy juice makes everything go smoothly. The job gets done and the vet doesn't get hurt. I've had horses half my life so one time this happened to me. I called he gave me a time which he would of arrive and told me to run cold water on it, then follow up with a cold compress until he got there. It was something he got in there. Had two different eye drops and being on one of them had to be in stall and keep area with no light until so many days then keep up with second one for so many days then he set up appointment then for to come back for recheck.

OMG!!! When that 'girl duck' came to drink some water, I cried. I didn't remember its name.... But I had a tame duck that looked just like her. Which a MINK killed!!! My duck was a rescue and was WELL known all over the states and Australia, because of my friends. When I posted that, my Scooter had been killed, I received condolences from every one that had heard ot met Scooter. So, when I see a duck that locks like my Scooter, I have to tear up. My best wishes to Chief. All of our animals are precious.

Something that might be useful to you. We tapped on the bottom of the empty metal feed can when we fed. It didn't take long for them to know that sound meant food. We were using a gallon coffee can for our feed can/scoop. After they got used to it we could call them in any time with the sound and we would at least give them a little feed so they didn't become wary of no treat or feed from the sound.

A great eye wash or remedy is to make a cup of organic green or black tea then let it cool down then put a bit into a little glass dish and dip the teabags into it tea and keep applying it to the eye;eyes as often as possible for a few days. You can also use a syringe and inject some into the eye as well. Works great for pink eye as well. Always used distilled water or filtered.

I've noticed the horses don't listen too good, like when you call them. Most animals react to treats, get you some carrots, some times use a sugar cube, what ever you can get him to come, and allow touch. Seems neither one of them really react to their names, or like to be touched very much. If you can get them trained to that, it will make it a lot easier.

So glad Chief's eye is gonna be ok. Man! The way the vet was taking the long q-tip thing and digging the hay/grass out of his gave me the creeps! So glad it isn't pink eye, cause some of the other channels I watch have that going around their herds. Poor Eddie, misses his stable mate. The chickens have a lot more roosting spots, that's for sure and that one layin box is finally getting used. Great video! God bless.😊❤

I'm sure glad that Chief did not have anything serious with his eye but that had to be painful. It is unfortunate that some halters dye comes out on the animals people would bring their animals in for check ups and we would see it quite often. Sometimes it would be caused by being left out in the weather or the harnesses were old and sometimes it's just the dye in the fabric.

If it turns out to be pinkeye, Chad Doss was told by his vet that pinkeye can be spread throughout the animals via flies. Just a thought for springtime when there are more flies (also warmer spells that happen when you lease expect it in fall/winter.)
