I Never Knew this Fish Existed

In this episode of BlacktipH, I caught a fish that I never knew existed! We started the day by dropping slow-pitch jigs in 1500 feet of water. We also set up an electric reel rigged with squid and a 10-pound led weight. After catching a plethora of snapper off the bottom, Jorge hooked and landed a blackfin tuna!

Josh, you were born on my beloved father's birthday! I was a 3rd generation Miamian that moved to Georgia in 2002. Now I'm able to nurse another passion of mine consisting of horseback riding and exploring the woods which I find as exciting as the waters I once trolled around in & I do miss. I knew biscayne bay like the back of my hand. I never missed a chance to go out in the water on my little 15' V-haul john boat. Although those days are long gone I'm able to relive my times in S. FL. vicariously through your videos! Thanks for stirring up my old memories of those years! They were so much fun! Love you!❤

Scombrops Oculatus is the specific species, i spent a while looking for it. i searched extensively in the mackerel genus Scombridae turns out it gets its name Scombrops from scom (mackerel) and ops (looking) so it just looks like a scombrid but its actually a in the gnomefish family.
