Best before does not mean out of date. Most things that passed the best before date are still edible.

That potato salad would have been absolutely fine! Particularly if the packaging hasn’t been opened yet! If you check the firmness, smell, appearance etc. then you’ll realise how much is ok to eat after the sell by date! (I’d be more cautious with stuff like meat just due to bacteria etc.) ☺️

You should compare a high end supermarket (like M&S) with a more budget supermarket like Lidl for Christmas party food or something! That would be super fun

Top tip to save yourself worry and money is to learn what out of date foods look and smell like. Expiry dates are only used to save the butts of companies if you get ill and to also encourage food waste because that will make you buy more. In my experience it is mostly rubbish so you can go ahead and see/smell for yourself if you should be eating it. ❤

Aldi Christmas crisps will always take top spot, they’ve done Boxing Day curry flavoured crisps this year as well as the usual Christmas flavours and I’m so excited to try them

From Southeastern region of USA: Chicken and waffles is a "thing." Very popular brunch item. The maple syrup is typical because usually the chicken is battered in a spicy breading, so you end up with sweet and spicy. Something MUST be spicy, or it does eat very sweet and like a dessert. Crispy bacon bits on top is also a good addition to the meal!

They often serve chicken and waffles at breakfast, although some see it as an anytime thing. The spicy and savory of the chicken balances the sweet. It’s personally not my thing, but it is well loved by many.

I’m not a fan of Tescos or mince pies. But when I tell you that you should try the tescos finest crumble topped mince pies (with brandy, cognac and port) … you should get em!

With the exception of pigs in blankets and cheeseboards, I am not a fan of Christmas foods, I couldn't do this without giving myself a heart attack lol.

Grace in American we have something called chicken and waffles it’s waffles and on top is is fried chicken and then you put syrup on it so that’s probably what they were trying to do

I know that the chicken in that wasn't the right kind. Typically southern fried chicken is spicy and marinated in buttermilk (with spices). The flour dredge is seasoned as well. The waffles are normal fluffy waffles. Typically the dish is served with hot sauce (Tabasco style), butter, and maple syrup (I've seen people use honey too).
