Shout out to your courage Crypto I didn't expect it to get so scary by the end. Honestly I don't fully believe in stuff like this either but one time one of my classmates talked about stuff like this. They shifted to a new city and she was living in a place where the member of the previous family died and they moved out. My friend's family did not believe in stuff like ghosts or spirits either so they decided to live there anyways. But after shifting to that apartment she said that her family got into multiple fights, she used to look very gloomy unlike her normal self, then they realized that something was wrong with the apartment itself. Her sister used to see and hear things and they would experience sleep paralysis often. They immediately decided to move out and her situation changed ever since she left the apartment. I think it would be best you do some sort of safeguarding at your house and maybe bring in more of a good energy. Your house seems mostly dimmed out, put on some more lights (hopefully those than won't add to your bills) and just search up about it. You will feel a lot better that way

The dog probably smelled/sensed some old disease, death or the heating up of the box made the old candle wax smell unpleasant.
