- In that book are there stories that convey lessons of morality? Yes.
- Is it old? How old is old enough?

@@fakebunny1272 I'd actually be ok with that. You see, pastafarians don't actually believe in the flying spaghetti monster. They will never admit that for legal reasons, but it's true. It's to ridicule religion's ugly aspects like intollerance and violence. This ridiculing is all over the religion, look up the 8 '' I'd rather you nots''. It's taken basically all the big ugly things about religion and kindly asks if you can stop doing them. Make a spoon into a god if you want, as long as you are not bothering anyone I don't really care.

Atheists don't really listen to what they say. It's a result of the incoherence of their faith. Take Bill Maher. On one hand he laments that the US may be too stupid to be able to carry on. Particularly among the young. He notes that advertisers specifically target the 18-34 demographic because of how naive and prone to suggestion they are. How they'll believe anything. Strangely Maher will then rejoice as the US is becoming more secular. Particularly among the young. He notes that for the first time in US history a generation is comprised of a majority who do not have any religious affiliation. Considering those two talking points I'd say there is no such thing as coincedence.

@@luckyskitchenbd516 🙂Thank you! I didn't come up with it, it's the Pastafarian prayer. It's a real thing, Pastafarianism is real. It's just all about being lighthearted. The dogma is that there is no dogma. We don't have a list of commandments, we just have a few "I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts". Research it! It's helped me with my life, and mental health, to be honest with myself.

Merriam-Webster > religion, noun : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices. religious, adjective : relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity. Something like this can never happen where I live. It is interesting to see how far behind in religious discourse and inter-religuous dialogue we are when compared to the societies where these movements happen. Where I live, no one has understood what communism really means (even the communists), no one understands real secularism, no one realises the boundary between faith and society, no one understands equal treatment of all people irrespective of faith (they instead try to practise equal treatment of all faiths). The infusion of Islam and Hinduism into each other and sharp boundaries in other facets of life complicate things to an extent where it is impossible to figure out where we stand as a society when it comes to religiosity.

I found this dictionary definition: "Conviction of the truth of some statement or the reality of some being or phenomenon especially when based on examination of evidence" So how do you know that someone else actually believes what they are saying? Well, if they are willing to stake their life on it, you can be pretty darned sure they believe it. All the people who endure religious persecution every day are living proof of the authenticity of their beliefs. All the martyrs of various religions are evidence that those religions are real, and not pretend. Show me someone who is willing to endure severe persecution and even death for the belief in the flying spaghetti monster, and then I will acknowledge it as a real religion. Until I see a shred of evidence that anyone actually believes in the flying spaghetti monster, I am absolutely calling it a facetious fraud designed to attack religious freedom!

@Michael-Archonaeus The dictionary definition involves "examination of evidence", so then in case of FSP or God, we are not gonna use dictionary definition. Yes someone staking their life will make their belief stronger than others, but it doesn't convince others that your belief is valid, you can still be lying to yourself, maybe not to others. I think that's not required tho, belief is more of a personal thing, everyone have their own beliefs, so that's valid. This is what pastafarianism is about, it's gospel or anything doesn't say anything against about other people's beliefs, it says respect other's beliefs, we know it's mockery, but the religion itself never mocks others. So if I believe in FSM, I believe in it, I don't go as far as killing myself to prove what? It doesn't prove FSM exists, it just proves my belief in it is more than value of my life, so I'm lying to myself without realising. So what am I dying for? Pastafarianism isn't made as an attack on religious freedom, infact it is to defend religious freedom, If you know the origin of it. I can tell the origin here, but I think it's just better if you search it yourself.

"Yes someone staking their life will make their belief stronger than others" No it won't, either you believe something or you don't. Being willing to stake your life on something proves that you absolutely believe it to be true, it doesn't say anything about the "strength" of your belief. "It doesn't convince others that your belief is valid, you can still be lying to yourself, maybe not to others." Correct. I never mentioned anything about the validity of the belief in the flying spaghetti monster, I called the so called believers inauthentic, because I have seen no compelling evidence that anyone actually believes in it. "belief is more of a personal thing, everyone have their own beliefs, so that's valid." It is not at all obvious to me that every personal belief is valid, not at all, in fact I find that idea utterly absurd! Pastafarianism is a total mockery that turns religion into a joke, not in a respectful satirical way, but rather by being a tool to erode the legal rights of real religious people. I can think of few things that I find as appalling and absolutely infuriating as this disgusting attack on the oldest and frankly most important social institution next to the family/tribe. There is nothing you can say that will redeem it in my eyes, absolutely nothing!

@Michael-Archonaeus I thought there is no evidence, so how are we going to use dictionary definition without evidence. Don't tell me some historical books are evidences. Again if someone stakes their life, yes that means they believe it to be truly true, that also doesn't mean if I don't stake my life, I believe it less truly. I just don't wanna die. I value my life above the truth. The FSM is self less creature, so our respect or worship means nothing to his highness, he'll grant heaven nonetheless. So we also don't have to prove our faith in the same way. That's just the way the pastafarianism works, and if it sounds absurd, that is also why it's made. Because thats how all the religions sound to athiests or people outside of "their" religions.

Hey you know you have something there..mind you I see god when i close my eyes..so yup gods within us.. But It did take me to understand.. Corinthians 13 Where by god is love and lives within us.. John 4:8 and love believes in everything. Mind you..least people arnt making blood sacrifices any more and killing those who work on Sabbath. Well maybe at least most arnt..killing lambs anymore.

It’s designed specifically to use the same arguments of other major faiths while making those arguments look positively ludicrous. It is seriously hilarious how many Christians get their feathers ruffled when you use their same arguments against them, for an obviously ridiculous deity.
