Action is insane as we step foot onto the TCH Dallas livestream. The game is billed as $5/$10/$20 NLH with a $5k max buyin, but don't let that deceive you--this game is massive. In this vlog we play the biggest pots that I've ever won and lost up to this point.

You don't have 34% on the turn with 88. The graphics are based on knowing what hole cards were folded preflop. You have 10 outs out of 44 cards to boat up if your opponent has a straight. 3 jacks to maybe tie. 11.5/44 does not equal 34%.

LOL - "give me a sec while I fix a few things here. Mmmkay!" That was pure comedic gold. It was a great bet, Andrew. Sometimes we give our opponent too much credit when we're repping a hand. Snap call there with a 4 high flush is just insane. He made a bad call at the right time. It happens...

No Andrew made a bad bet. When you're playing at a higher stake you don't normally play at, you've got to play ABC poker. Your priority is to make money and not to show how great of a poker player you are by bluffing your bankroll away because for dudes who normally play these higher stakes are used to calling off huge bluff with As high. When I play 25/50 PLO at Borgata vs playing 5/10 PLO that I normally play I refrain from trying to pull off big bluff that I normally would do at 5/10. Andrew play was motivated by Livestreaming not is usual tempered style off play. After he got called he got gun shy and checked AK down to the river.
@intrepidus3378
@intrepidus3378 3 жыл бұрын
@@godfreyojeator999 I think overall this was a +EV bet. It just happens to come along with higher variance and that does need to come into consideration when a player is moving up in stakes and maybe doesn't have the bankroll to support the higher variance. But, the bankroll discussion is a matter of personal risk tolerance. It doesn't mean the bet was bad when viewed in a vacuum. For example, if I were bankrolling Andrew, I would love to see plays like this. It was a highly advanced play. We all laugh about the unsubscribe from Polk's channel. But the fact that Polk had a video discussing this exact spot and recommending a balanced bluff range under these circumstances does support that view point.

This is Skydiver Scott. I am definitely not a pro but happy to give my line of thinking here as correct or incorrect as it may be. When Andrew elects to smooth call the flop and also not raise the turn I just can't put him on a set with the limited amount of information I have gotten in just this one session of playing with him. It is just a super weird line to take with a set, but sure it's still possible that he can have a set there. Not taking away anything from Andrew (again because I know nothing about him or his play), but the percentage of people that have the ability to take that line and then check raise the river is so few that I have to snap call based on probability alone. The game is playing huge and losing a pot this size is not at all a changer so my worst case scenario is a gain information and on to the next hand.
@codywalker256
@codywalker256 3 жыл бұрын
He is also going to want to go super polar with his Full House/bluffs. I think for this to work a shove is the right move. Yes maybe you still call it off, but the all in is going to look stronger. With the raise he made you only had to be right about 26% of the time which I'm sure almost all flushes will call that.
@reitzmj1
@reitzmj1 3 жыл бұрын
@@codywalker256 also watching him, (I don't know how long he actually took) but it seemed like much longer and his body language was much less strong during the bluff vs the FH he hit with the 8's. If he took a similar amount of time with less movement and shoved to polarize its possible it works.

I will say that the ship on the two pair hand to rep a boat was super high level. Just sucks that the other guy was just ready to pull the trigger no matter what given he was pot committed. This is why it may be better to nit it up at low- to mid-level stakes given that players are just a lot looser with their range and ready to commit.

I think the bluff w/ 54dd is great against other regs or competent players but trying to bluff “Skydiver Scott” who’s a clear recreational is a massive punt imo where your edge should make you so much EV just sitting in this game. Love the vlogs, would love to make it to one of the homegames one day but I live in Canada! glgl
@andymoiser4611
@andymoiser4611 3 жыл бұрын
I like the flop flat, on the river you have to look at what hands V is supposed to fold, is V ever folding a str8 because I would be the equilibrium has him folding some. Skydiver may not even fold a T so trying a bluff that is good against a perfect V is not so great against a player that is massively going to overcall this river...with that said his flush has the deuce in in so does block some flopped 22s...

Solid bluff with 54. No, we don't get to raise sets on 845 too often when 4 players are on the flop. So the story of having a FH on the river was properly told. Sadly, the bluff was against a completely wrong opponent who is a fish. You could've spotted that once he 4bet 9x with AA earlier on. GG nevertheless.

These games are soft. His baby flush isn't even a value bet on the river lol. He bet raised PF bet mw, barreled turn and board paired on the river. Andrew is never calling a worse hand on the river.
@dan22482
@dan22482 3 жыл бұрын
100%, his bluff was good from a theory standpoint and might work against the GTO robots at the bellagio, but he needs to think more about his specific opponent. A fishy gambler player is never going to fold a flush for another 3k on the river. Only possible sizing that would have worked was all in, but even that seems unlikely given the snap call.

Aw the guy was a whale. Snap called.
@erictal8666
@erictal8666 3 жыл бұрын
I think the bluff was right, but the sizing allows him to call a lot and only needs to be right on occasion. Also, the sizing in the value re raise with 88 in a similar spot was smaller. If both were shoves, it would reduce their odds on calling. If you had value 60% of the time or so in this spot (calculated by combos), he’d be indifferent between calling and folding. It’s therefore a winning shove even if he snaps you off. In short, the sizing was the issue. By doing too small a size, you allow his call happy tendencies to actually be the correct play.

@@powerlifting1012 At most casinos I have played at, you (anyone dealt into the hand, whether or not still in it) can ask for a "show one, show all" ruling, and the floor will have the dealer protect the muck, so that when the player folds, the dealer touches the muck with the cards but keeps them separate. Then at the end of the hand, they get shown to everyone. I've seen this several times. Depending upon the casino, floor person, and shift manager, both players might be warned against doing it again, with various consequences threatened. Or if they've ever done it before, even weeks ago, they might be shown the door for a day, month, or permanently. I've seen this also, for this or similar infractions. One time, two friends who did it were permanently banned from ever playing at the same table again at that casino. Separately, one or both might be declared in violation of "one player to a hand" and the hand killed on the spot, especially if there is ANY suspicion of chatter, signaling, speaking a foreign language after looking, or even slightly reacting with a tell after looking at the cards. I've never seen anyone banned for showing cards to another folded player, but I play in places with solidly enforced rules, where no pro or regular would do something like that, except in low-pressure, low-stake situations where nobody is going to ask for anything more than a warning to them. And they'd absolutely never do it after a warning, so you could really only get away with it for one hand if anyone at the table cares at all, or if the dealer is strict. VERY bad form, in any case.

That’s an awesome pot … And I think it’s smart to review your play and search for the higher EV plays even when it’s already awesome.. Good Job 👍

I’m sure you feel terrible Andrew. Not just because of the loss but that last hand was probably your Achilles heel. 2 other people contesting for the pot and you have someone leading into the pre-flop aggressor twice. There was enough info to find the fold button but yeah it’s a lot easier when I can see everyone’s cards! Thanks for being honest and sharing a losing session! Hope you recover soon from it.

Tough session, obviously, but you handled it with your wonted class. Money will come and go, but class is forever. Good game, Andrew.

Awww man, finally finished the episode. Damn. That's gross. I was only at the Doug Polk part when I made my previous comment this was one of the best vlogs yet. I still think this was an adventurous vlog, great to see the vlog itself so strong and healthy, the losing session aside. I did not enjoy the ending obviously, but I enjoyed the ride. We'll get em next time.

Not amazing. Physical tell. For the most part Andrew kept poker face. This time he "put on his business face". Act of strength. No way he does this with a boat or flush. Trips at best and Skydiver not playing 42h to fold turned flushes when board comes running pair..
