chapter 11 has a lot of side quests, including extremely good accesories. Its not about grinding, but playing the side quests up until you want to continue the main story. You can also ignore them and play the story right away, the bosses will be harder but you can still beat it if you use defensive archetypes when boss attacks are coming. Your video is perfectly fine, btw, a lot better than most small channels. You may want to speed up the introduction so it doesnt take 20% of the video. Your commentary is very good and you put good emotion into it instead of just reading. Hopefully you get the growth you deserve, I definitely got this through FF algorithm magic.

I absolutely love ff13. Not every ff needs to be 7 or 10 . i played it for what it was and i enjoyed it...i love the characters...the battle system...the world...and visuals . it was a great adventure. No its not perfect but no game is....someone will always dislike it. Ff 6...ff9...ff10 are probably my top 3 favorites .

I love all three FFXIII games but what you said about the bosses was my frustration exactly in each one. The battles get chaotic and it's hard to tell what's happening. Then suddenly they pull out some kind of insta-kill attack and I would have no idea what happened or how to defend against it. Sometimes I'd have to look up boss attacks just to understand what the attacks were doing.

XIII is one of my favorite FF games. It gets way too much hate for being linear and my only gripe is I don't like that I can't make my characters OP if and when I want. I didn't care for the crystarium's upgrade system at all. I loved everything else

The game may have been linear in design but it was clearly designed that way. Like I said it felt like delving through a massive dungeon! I thought it was pretty fun

@maxdmacleod Same. I didn't mind the design of the game at all. I thoroughly enjoyed every playthrough of both this game and XIII-2. I liked Lightning Returns, but only when I applied the cheat that gave 24 hours to the game clock. The in-game timer was my only gripe with that game
@MusicManRed

@silenceundying true. However, this is still in Chapter 12. I'm speaking of early game. You can't grind/farm and make characters OP early game because of how the crystatium unlocks. Games like VII, X, and XII (some of my faves for this) allow you the freedom to do this. I still love XIII, it's a favorite in the series for me.

The story of 13 is all right, ignore the library in the codex. I dig a bunch of directionless, lost people being summoned by an enemy god to have one focus, and watching them deal with that, even though over the top sometimes, Lightning namely, is superb. And though true, the story does kinda fall off after they figure out their way forward, the gameplay had me hooked by the time that happened. Personally I have no opinion of XIII-2 & 3, I haven't played them and their marketing material doesn't really persuade me either. Especially since the end of XIII is honestly pretty final.

XIII-2 is very weird. I loved the first one, and the 2nd one is... OK I guess. The story abuses time travel to a point where it becomes hard to digest, and I personally didn't like it. There's no party, you just get two characters, and the 3rd one is a monster you have to get, which at first I thought was interesting but in the end since these monster have no dialogues it felt kinda hollow. The story doesn't really get anywhere either, feels like it could be a DLC explaining what happens before the 3rd game. Big point though : The paradigm system is still there and is still as good. Your two characters can get any class, but each monster has a specific class. And when changing paradigms, you can change monsters too. Last big up, Lightning is literally godlike in that first battle, probably the best tutorial ever made, no joke it's so fun. And you can replay it as much as you want. The 3rd game is very good though very different. You're only playing as Lightning, but the concept of having only 13 days to beat the game was interesting. The gameplay kinda has a paradigm shift, except you have 3 armors that you can switch at any times in battle. Each armor has a stamina gauge, that replenish when you are not using it. The story is decent, the final was satisfying. The difficulty is there if you want it. And you can new game plus as much as you want to get infinite stats. If I had to rate : XIII : 8/10 XIII-2 : 7/10 XIII-3 : 8/10

How did you explain the battle system as... "and there's also a stagger mechanic." The start of convo about the system is the stagger mechanic. If you use 3 ravagers you are going to build up the stagger quickly but it falls to zero in a second or two, and you lose your progress. But even if you are using 2 rav,/1 com, if a rav is the last to hit the stagger bar is in rav mode mean it falls quickly and if you aren't paying attention and you are not the com, the com could wait to long to attack. This type of thing happens when the ravs have 3 atb units and the com has 4 because they got their summon, you have to keep track of their attacking rhythm. There are defensive enemies where it takes a long time to build the bar and you basically only do damage when they are staggered. Also the bombs is you don't move fast they will kill you for sure. If you use 3 commandos you aren't going to build the stagger at all, but the stagger that you do have is going to be totally stable and is never going to drop. This can be good for enemies with a long slow bar that attack hard and you just have to heal and freeze the bar. There will be times that you will want to just be in 2 com/1 rav or 2 rav/1 com for stagger maintenance and safe stagger building respectively. There are also enemies that can be launched when staggered but if they are launched you can keep them up in the air and they can't attack. There are also hordes that if you time your attacks right and or you use a preemptive strike to stagger and take out 8 slugs while maintaining a partial pre-stagger on a behemoth, and that's only with Lightning and Hope. You have to time you attacks to kill a behemoth on the first stagger because if it stands up you're done. You also have to learn to time your attacks to hit the monster in the lull between the last npc attack to maintain whatever stagger phase your in. And with constant shifting of the team and limited jobs between the two or three available to you, you are always forced to learn new ways of battle based on the paradigms available. But if you figure out the trick you always have the paradigms you need. They never leave you with out a sentinel during a battle you really needed one. I truly believe that if you think this system is autobattling you are just not good at it. I'd say that the only time I started to get bored of it was when you coming back from pulse for the last assault. I think that's just because I spent WAY too much time in pulse and had already learned to battle most of the monsters. And I wore myself out. Particular with that wind ceith near the circle of ceith stones but I think I wanted to get him for the teleportation stone. I'm not sure.

It's not bad design. You did Pulse wrong. There are absolutely monster you are SUPPOSE to avoid. It's to make pulse feel dangerous. It's to make you feel like you need to be prepared and aware of your surroundings at all times. Imagine if they talked Pulse up the entire game as this big scary place, hell on earth type wild Jurassic park, and then you get there and it's filled with monsters that you already know how to beat. This is the first time you see the big turtles and you think. I'm supposed to battle THAT? But if you fight the Ci'eth stones into order they unlock, you will gain enough crystarium point to find of that with a pre-emptive strike you can absolutely take down a big guy. It's actually amazingly well crafted. I'm sorry that you got 10 hours of the mostly beautiful scenery that had ever exist in a video game up to that point. I'm sorry, you're welcome. People complain that it's too linear and then when you have full control and a full party to explore with, they also complain.

If you are doing an entire fight with two coms and a medic you are not playing this game correctly. "I used the slowest set up imaginable, and so I'm mad that the game is slow and boring." Umm, you did this to yourself... I think a flaw of this game is that it makes people figure it out themselves and if they do they like it, and then they don't it's tedious. Based on your critique you 50% figured out battling.
