I watched the opening cinematic of this game so many times as a kid I memorized the choreography of Squall and Seifer's entire fight. Also, "Man with a machine gun", aka Laguna's theme is the best random battle music in any ff game. I originally played the game 22 years ago and it's just as great now as it was then.

I love watching younger generations play These old final fantasy games. Its such a nostalgic feeling seeing the emotions that I know so well from the connection to these amazing characters. Keep making these pleeeeze.

Imagine how cool this was when it came out? I remember being so happy Christmas day when I got it back in like 1998 or whatever it came out. Good times.

That intro video! I was 12 years old, and got this game one evening. I had to go to bed for school, but before that, my parents let me watch the intro. I promised not to play anything, just....see the opening. Of course, I said it'd be a minute or 2, given FFVII, but I got to watch it anyway. It was so absolutely special, and I couldn't wait to play it proper the next day!

FFVII, FFVIII and FFX are my favourites in the series. Happy to see FFVIII receive some love. Also, when Squall uses Renzozuken limitbreak on larger enemies and the animation changes based on said enemy; UGH, it's so cool :D

This was my VERY first final fantasy back in 2001-02 and has always been one of my favorites….it totally got me into the series so I love seeing someone show it some love from time to time 😊

I absolutely love how expressive and immersed Frankie gets in her playthroughs. One of these days, I'll catch her streams to see her reactions in real time. FF8 was my first FF and JRPG, saw it one day in Blockbuster and took a chance. It has a special place in my heart.

Would you believe Edea was pretty much an already-finished character designed for FF7? She was shelved because she "didn't fit" in the 7 world, and ended up being almost perfect as she was for what they wanted in 8.

FF8 remains a straight up MAGICAL experience start to finish... Such powerful moments mixed with incredible music, memorable characters, and a cinematic presentation cutting edge for its time.

Magical Lamp is still the best and memorable troll I've ever experienced in a game.

I still felt so much emotional after more than 20 years playing it back then. This is my best all time epic RPG game.

After playing every FF mainline game, and many of the side ones, FF8's intro is still, by far, the best intro to any FF game.

This scene feels just like your first crush, you were both innocent, foolish, and so stupidly deep in love you don't even know what you're doing. That brief moment of fireworks have you staring at him/her, having him/her as the only one in front of you makes you feel like they are your whole world. Magnificently written and choreographed, FF8 knows how to pull your heart strings. Which is why FF8 will always have a place in my heart, sorta like the first love letter you received or written.

Never seen your content before, but this has to be one of the funniest playthroughs I've ever seen. I'm here from now on, this was great.

I love FFVIII. It has many problems, but the soundtrack isn't it. It hits really hard in many places. "Eyes on Me" is fantastic and it's motifs in many of the games tracks are amazing. Love Grows especially. 20+ years later, it's still my favorite game OST.

Even though I love FFVIII, I stopped near the end and never saw the ending. You've inspired me to replay and complete this time !💓

So this is coming from someone who isn't even a huge ff8 fan... obviously I played it and I thought it was fine. But something I did a lot of long ago was going to lots of conventions, and I went to one particular one that had a huge venue out back and a video game music orchestra concert outside in the most perfect weather. It was something you could buy an extra ticket for one of the nights. So they were playing the clips of the games they did songs for and eventually the orchestra played that one really famous song from this game. They were playing this same clip you watched here where they are at the dance ball and Rinoa comes and forces Squall to dance. The camera pans up, the orchestra hits the climax of the song and fireworks go off in the game cutscene AND IN REAL LIFE AT THE EXACT SAME TIME above us in the audience. Grown ass men were crying, I'm serious. You have to remember this game had only been out a couple years by that point so it was really fresh and popular with everyone. Then they finished the song and said well that's our intermission, come back in 15 minutes for the rest of the concert. I actually don't remember the rest of the concert.
