Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a very special game for me, it introduced me properly into the world and mythos of Final Fantasy and quickly became one of my favourite games of all time. After years of consideration on whether to just wait for the sequel or to cave and play the original, I decided I HAD to play the original, whether to avoid spoilers or to be involved in the hype, it was very clear the Remake project is more than just a remake and I was clearly missing out on something big that I wanted to be involved in.
The original Final Fantasy VII was an incredible journey, which is why I've split this one into two parts, I just couldn't do this game the justice it deserves in one single video, and a 3 hour video would've been too long to justify, so... Two parts made sense. I really hope you enjoy going on this journey with me.
There's still lots to do though, I have the rest of the FF7 compilation to go through on stream (so drop me a follow to join me for that) as well as the rest of the Final Fantasy series on my 'Road to Final Fantasy 16' as I've unofficially dubbed it.
Much love everyone, I hope this video allows you FF7 fans a way to reexperience the game through fresh eyes, I loved this game, I hope the video ends up being a good one! 💚

Yeah, I didn't play the OG FF7, but I got some spoilers before the Remake was even announced. And since the remake was announced I refuse to play the original until I play the 3 parts of the remake. I know that most people say that the Remake is a "continuation" of the OG, but I will stick with my plan. Btw, I'm just watching the beginning of this video/the part of the game that the Remake part 1 adapted. Things that I got spoiled from a long time ago: Aerith's death Sephiroth transformation and clones (but I don't really know much about the clones, I just know that he have clones) The Crisis Core final scene Meteor is a big thing (of course it is, it is in the logo of the game) and the white materia and Aerith has something to do to prevent it to happen. Cloud kinda things that he is or just acts like Zack The weapons, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond

What makes Aerith's death so memorable over the years is in previous games characters did die, but most of them were old men or warriors. Aerith was essentially your white mage/magic dealer of the group and she was only in her 20's when she was killed. Whats even more sad is that she has NO REPLACEMENT character for her like previous games would do. Her role and her place on the roster is left empty for the remainder of the game. Almost as a reminder of your loss throughout the rest of the game and the pain never truly went away for some of us.

If they change what happens I think it will be a mistake.

@@Grawbad They aren't "changing what happens." It's a new time line parallel to the original one. The original isn't going anywhere. Nothing is being retconned. It's a new adventure where Sephiroth has foreknowledge of what happens in the original time line and so he's attempting to escape his fate. It's a fucking genius creative move that keeps the Remake series fresh and exciting even for vet players. Stop looking for things to get upset about and just enjoy the ride.

@@Progger11 this might seem random, but is the mobius final fantasy canon? I saw this scene from the game where cloud walks towards this light and hears aerith's theme and calls it comforting. A small pixie-like thing says it's his home/ his promised land that he can't remember and tells him he can't go back to the past. He then says he wants to go back there, but also someplace where everything can be different. So do you know if that game is canon? Could the remake timeline be where cloud wanted to go?

Sephiroth the time travelling idiot, kills Aerith again even though he knew what happened last time, her death stopped him from accomplishing his goal of becoming god, oh yes if SE go down that path again then it is pathetic writing especially after the ending of remake, people labelling rebirth a sequel, if so it can't be the latest part of the compilation to the original ffvii lmbo, yes we need to thank Maxdood for wanting something more like the original narrative. It was him who labelled the remake trilogy a faithful sequel. If this is the case I don't have any interest in the game at all, afte that ending in remake, because anybody who knows the lore would know ffvii trilogy occurs after DofC. Or the other side of DofC the side of the game we never got to see when controlling Vincent. All I am going to say I hope this trilogy is a false narrative, and not a game how the so called experts of ffvii wouldn't even envision it being playing out, the song Hollow has indications that Aerith is dead from og in the remake trilogy, we have all heard of the matrix? The Arbinger of Fate was virtual computer generated concept in my opinion, "the singularity has many meanings", lets leave it at that.

Fun fact, there are a lot of minor mistranslations in this game. There was only one translator, and he only had 3 months to translate the entire game, and they apparently only gave him individual lines of dialogue to translate rather than linear sections. Because Japanese is a lot more context dependent than English, he didn't always know what they were talking about, so that's why sometimes they say weird or confusing things in this game. I bring this up because the "orthapedic underwear" part is one funny mistranslation. The Japanese words for "orthapedic" and "sexy/racy" are very similar.

@aarons.2323
@aarons.2323 Жыл бұрын
@@Artimes. There's quite a few mods that fix the translation on PC, but I'm fairly certain it's the New Threat mod that actively changes some dialog so it fits better given what we know happens. For instance, Cait Sith's dialog to himself when he's about to "die" is a whole lot different, and he gives a lot more hints on his true identity. Some might see this as sacrilege, but I think it's fantastic. New Threat 2.0 (at least the vanilla version. I don't want Aerith resurrected) is a must play for FF7 fans who have played the game for the last decade or two.

@@adcraziness1501 That wasn't an oversight so much as the standard for the time. It wasn't the first or last time Squaresoft (as they were known back then) did it, and it wasn't the first or last time other companies did same thing. Looking back at things like that, it really makes me appreciate all the time, energy, and organization that companies are putting into their localization teams today. Really, it wasn't until the latter days of the PS3 that it started becoming standard for JRPGs to get simultaneous international releases. You said it perfectly when you said you didn't know how you didn't have Aerith's death spoiled for you. It's probably the biggest twist in video game history. People who have never played the game but know the history of video games even a little know Aerith dies. It's amazing you didn't just... know. And it's awesome! I've watched some people play the game for the first time, but they usually are filled with dread once they see her up there praying alone, because it's easy to figure out that that's the moment. As a fan of the game for the last 24 years, it's nice to see someone who didn't know. Now, get ready for that part in Rebirth! Although... I think it might happen differently just to throw fans off. How full on is the Aerith moment, i feel your pain, it was such a shock and the Aerith music that is playing all throughout the Jenova fight, it will force you to shed tears Every Single Time. Nothing in any medium has even come close to the shock and sadness of this moment

Back when the remake was announced, like 6-7 years ago, they came out with a DLC PS4 home screen of Midgar which I was so excited for the remake I downloaded and applied it to my PS4. Next thing I know I'm moving around the home screen checking out my Midgar background, and all of a sudden quietly I hear Aerith's song playing in the background and went from extremely excited for the Remake to deeply saddened. I was so excited for the remake, for a moment I forgot about Aerith dying, but once that theme song started playing I got so damn sad and just let it play out for like 5 minutes.

I picked up ff 7,8 and 9 on xbox over the holidays and I'm playing through 7 the now for the first time. Despite the dated graphics (which I love) I can't put the game down. There is just something I love about older games and find myself playing more of them than new releases.

There’s a level of immersion they were forced to achieve through tone, writing and music because of the technical limitations, they couldn’t trick you with flashy combat and photorealistic visuals, the substance had to be there. It’s why old games tend to hold up so well because they actually had to make something good.

"i don't wanna play anymore"... yep that's what many of us felt back then, it took me 2 years to pick up the controller and finish the game (as a side note my date on the golden saucer WAS with aerith), and even searched for the legendary level 4 revive materia: rumour that there was a revive materia that could actually bring her back to life and fight for the final disc, there came even some screenshots (edited of course) of her fighting the ultima weapons

So in the original, Corneo can choose, cloud, tifa, or aerith. Depending on how well you do at getting the top items in the mini games, it will decide who gets picked. I did feel this was one thing they cut from the remake I was sad about. The original gave you multiple outcomes a lot depending on your choices. Whether cloud will be pick as the bride or who Cloud went on a date with later on depending on how you treated Aerith and Tifa (if you were mean to both you could go on a date with Barrett).

Hope you gained like 50k subs off this vid man, that honest reaction was by far one of the best ive seen and ive seen this soooo many times. Im hoping when i finish this that by looking this up i can watch the entire playthru instead of the edited down version. I experienced that as a teen, and this is why ff7 is so beloved. It hits ya in the feels, it inspires, makes you laugh, surprises. Its like i keep trying to tell the wife, its a story that instead of just reading you play thru the pages.

This was so awesome, to see someone enjoy the original game in the 2020’s. And you’re in pretty good time to jump into Crisis Core afterward as it will likely release on modern platforms very soon, a must for anyone who finds this story interesting on any level. I genuinely didn’t think it was possible for people to play this game and not have the first disk spoiled anymore. Thank you for letting me re-experience something I went through almost twenty-five years ago.

I know I'm kinda late on commenting this since this was from so long ago, but spoiling what happens to Aerith (or any character) robs you of the emotion that never quite leaves. Any fan off ff7 original would never want to spoil what made the game so great. The emotional journey of the highs, lows, the characters and your attachment to them stays with you forever. Playing the remake and seeing these characters again was like seeing a loved ones who had long passed that are as vibrant and lovable as you remember.

Great seeing your reaction to this story. Brings back some great memories! Imagine playing this in 97 when it can out. The graphics and nonlinear platform were legit groundbreaking. Gotta be up there as one of the best music scores ever created and is iconic. And if you ever play again there are some amazing extra content like the Weapon fights, the knights of the realm materia… worth maxing levels to do!

The hardest moment is seeing your save file with Aerith still in your party. This is what memory does to you in real life with loss: for a split second, you forget that they're gone, and then you get this sick feeling rushing in as your brain snaps you back to reality.

Btw mate you are so bloody lucky that you weren't spoiled about Aerith dying. It's one of the BIGGEST known spoilers in all of gaming to the point that it's become a non-spoiler lol. It's like how most people know that Darth Vader is Luke's father, but for video games. Even still, as someone who knew she would die, it made me cry my eyes out. Especially when the game gives you NO REST immediately after she dies...It's such a brilliant scene, and as weird as it is to say it's one of the best character deaths in gaming history
