Unless you cut it out, it seems one major thing was missed. Basil didn't just see Sunny push Mari down the stairs, HE was the one who had the idea to make it look like a suicide, because he didn't want Sunny to get in trouble. Sunny was too traumatized to do much of anything, which is where we see Basil grab his shoulders (and where he must've told him 'everything's going to be okay,' which would explain why it stuck with Sunny so much)

Just to help clear up a few things... ((SPOILERS)) Sunny hated practicing the violin. Mari made him practice constantly for the recital because she wanted everything to be perfect. Sunny would rather just spend time with his friends. So playing the violin wasn't fun for him anymore. My interpretation of the events is Sunny tells Mari he doesn't want to play in the recital anymore. Mari gets upset and tries to talk him out of this. But Sunny throws his violin down the stairs in frustration. Mari gets upset and yells at Sunny. Sunny becomes overwhelmed and pushes her away in frustration. Mari falls down the stairs. This is when Basil walks in the front door, and witnesses Sunny pushing Mari down the stairs, and then sees Mari lying dead. He is in shock, and doesn't want to believe his best friend did that. Sunny brings Mari upstairs to bed, probably hoping she would rest and wake back up. When he realizes she's really dead, Sunny breaks down. Basil wants to help his best friend, and comes up with an idea to keep Sunny from getting in trouble. He convinces Sunny to help him bring Mari's body outside to the tree, and uses the jump rope to hang her there. Then they hide the evidence in the toybox. Suddenly accidental manslaughter is worsened. Basil covers up the crime, and tries to convince everyone it was Mari's actions. Which everyone believes. Except for Sunny's dad. Who finds her. He figures out the truth, but probably helps perpetuate the lie. But he doesn't forgive Sunny. He cuts down the tree, and disowns Sunny, moving out of the house. Basil tries to keep helping Sunny, but Sunny must have a breakdown, and after blacking out all of Basil's photographs, he never leaves his house again for 4 years. His guilt consumes him, and Basil's coverup story made what happened so much worse for him. Obviously Basil was just trying to protect Sunny. But it would have been so much better to just say he accidentally pushed Mari. He meant to push her, but didn't mean to actually hurt her. (Like when Aubrey pushed Basil into the lake.) Sunny's only coping mechanism is to bury the truth down deep, and create a world in his head where everything is ok. Where Mari is alive, and his friends are all there and having fun together. But his mind always worries that Basil is going to either tell the truth or make things worse again. So even in his mind, Basil is unintentionally pushed away. And Omori is there instead of Sunny, to try and preserve this fake happy world. Omori's job is to keep Sunni safe and protected, no matter the cost. Overall just a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved. Sunny was 12 when it happened. And 16 when he finally decides to admit the truth.

Basil was the one who had the idea to frame it as suicide as to he didn't want Sunny to get into trouble. Sunny had shut down and was unresponsive after he saw Mari wasn't breathing, so I guess Basil was trying to find any solution. It had also been confirmed by omocat that Mari's perfectionism had been the catalyst of their argument causing Sunny to break his violin. He tried to get into his room to escape confrontation with Mari, and pushed her out of the way but her bad knee gave out and she accidentally fell... tragic all around

What?! I didn't know that she streamed Omori. This is a dream come true. Edit: Saw the end now. "Omori" is more like Sunnys safety mechanism. Omori wants to protect Sunny from his trauma and guilt, so he removed everything that could trigger this trauma again in Headspace, like Basil, and lived in that world instead the real world. But Sunny needs to overcome his trauma.

The good ending to this game made me cry like a baby.

Great Play-through! I've always loved the To The Moon Series but genuinely came to have a soft spot for Omori, no doubt it's also a masterpiece! Just to mention one thing though, at the end of the stream on what you said about Basil, it's not that He just witnessed Mari's death but actually was the one who staged the suicide scene, hence the reason behind his worsening mental health alongside Sunny's over the years!

Omg time to binge this entire thing. I just discovered this games ost like two weeks ago and I couldn't find anyone I enjoyed watching who covered it. And now this! Unspeakably happy about this outcome. Edit: 13:47 literally me when I found this games soundtrack 14:28 girl same 1:05:30 this is such a mindfuck. I love it

I hope she returns to this game for the other storyline. So many people stop after getting this ending despite it only being half the game. It's extra sad so many miss out on the other story since most of the extra content added in rereleases were in the second route.
