I picked up Icarus last week on the Steam Summer Sale... and my only regret is the 15-20 hours of my life I've already lost building and killing monster horses. A few friends of mine have hyped up Once Human, but I've yet to see anything that screamed at me to get it, even though it's completely free. Your summation at the end was perfect: "It doesn't feel special."

@@notazombie...notatall8577 I would also prefer a single player game, but later locations are a bit better. But the places where the game suggests setting up a camp before a difficult mission will turn out to be a refugee camp with nowhere to set foot.

If you read the steam reviews there are an extreme amount of people claiming this has hidden files that install and run on startup. These files also can not be removed by uninstalling. Also the EULA states they own this video and any content produced on their game.

It's a new release and f2p. Queues are almost always backed up on anticipated online games on launch days. It will likely balance out in a few days.

The game has been really captivating for me lately, which doesn't happen often. It's a shame that you can't play solo or with friends only, and the servers are a bit disappointing.

Don't 'withdraw' you have to use the OTHER option and select the type of function on the right side of the screen for the butterfly goober.

people taking base spots that you'd want is a downside but the counter to that is that this game will have you moving your base for better locations with better resources since zones are level based sort of like how world of warcraft had leveling zones

There is little point in sweating about a permanent home space, you will move later when it's time to move to a higher zone.

The game genuinely doesn't look half bad, but no single player/ private server combined with pc only, cause i don't count mobile, just kinda ruins the game.

i played for like 5 hours or something like that, its a pretty clunky game tbh^^ feels more like bad version of everything you would expect tbh lol the server thing is ok imo, its pve and other players dont really matter unless someone is building on a spot you would like to build on, resources respawn in seconds, plenty of loot/trash(you use for recycling) but the enemies feel like the dumbest ai you could imagine, its a fun game for when feeling burned out of anything else, its a pretty chill game with a decent nice looking building system but nothing to play as a main game imo

I wanted to love this game so much... Upon reaching lvl 20 however, I realised that they are doing 6 week server wipes on an MMO for some reason, and I'm just not interested. I can just play Rust if I want that.

I actually went to go try this game as my friends were giving it a go. EU servers were down for maintenance when I tried so couldn't even look at character creation. Forgot how much a pain in the arse MMOs are

I have only been a fan of a couple MMOs. Always ends up as a pay to win in my experience no matter how they start the game. Free is never "free".

Fun game, but I would be careful spending money on things early on. For example the battle pass seems to currently be character/server based and not account wide (since they allowed multiple characters last night, post launch). Also seems weapon skins might be on the gambling side of things.

You gave it a try. You lost no money being a free game. It had potential with the concept though and the graphics weren’t bad. I’m not a fan of server only games but there are people that love them so this game may be up their alley.

I was going to play it but when I read the terms of service. Their data collection terms are insane they can basically collect any information from your pc billing address, government ID, and social media info. Everything Accept your social security number . So, to me, it sounds more like a data broker program with a game thrown in to make you feel happy while the company mine any data they can sell 🤔

all that suff is only there because you can link all your social media accounts to your account, pc billing adress is standard for when purchasing things, government ID is only for countries that require you to input said ID to play games ie china

No, it's only on their servers currently. They mentioned private servers a while back, but I'm not sure how they'd go about still making money being a free to play game.

Nah, I'm already out. I loathe online-only games that force you to play on a server. Too bad. EDIT: If the devs were really smart, they would hide the server queue in the background while you played that first portion. As far as I could tell, that introductory part had no multiplayer and just served as an introduction to the story. None of that should require a server.

Worse than just being mmo, they reset every 6 weeks, you keep a couple of thing but it nukes your base and most of your stuff. Worse part though is you have to relevel and quest.

yea i had this game in wishlist for ages too, then i see its online only, so needless to say sorry can't do... i hate other people, they troll, cheat and what not i do not have the time nor willpower to build and spend time to then see wasted by a server down times and cheaters. Noap i'll pass.

I tried to stick with it but a) I won't play a server-only game because once the servers go, your fun goes (learned that with Firefall), and b) I spent most of this video hearing the late, great Lloyd Bridges as Admiral Benson from "Hot Shots" saying, "I don't have a clue what you're talking about, Phil. Not a f**king clue." ;)
