From Wolfey VGC's video I have learnt that to win in Pokemon ranked battles, you have to start all your matches by saying "Oh no, I am doomed! I cannot beat this team, I have no counters" And then proceed to win.

Now Correct me if I am wrong cause I don't own a switch. But I thought "Rocky Helmet" Took away 1/8th or 1/16th of the enemy's Health if they made an Attack that makes contact. Like spiked Armor

Competitive pokemon is really nice and chill. Unfortunate there is less focus on VGC rules which is the ideal way to play. I think of they added tiers to VGC it would also improve

It's always very entertaining to see someone try out comp Pokemon, considering it's one of the most popular franchises on the planet but this is an aspect of it not that many people new to the series really dive into. Not quite sure where Toast got that moves have different speed from though, there's priority moves which always go first and negative priority moves like Trick Room that always go last but other then that most moves have no speed and who goes first is simply dependent on the pokemons Speed Stats

All the corrections: 1. Rocky helmet doesn't make a pokémon bulkier, it hurts pokémon attacking that pokémon with contact moves. 2. Trickroom is very strong against Tailwind. 3. Plural of pokémon is pokémon, not pokémons. 4. Wind is not an attribute, Flying is the attribute. 5. Attacks don't have speed, the speed of any move is based on the speed of the pokémon unless priority is involved. 6. Priority is unaffected by trickroom. 7. Glassy Glide and Sucker Punch have higher priority, so they will move before any other move (assuming no other priority moves are used such as Fake Out has priority +3 compared to these two priority of +1; these priority numbers have sometimes changed over the generations especially pre/post gen V)

Toast there are 2 types of Urshifu and that was the dark type not the water type and arcanine is weak to fighting

gold bottle caps allows you to max out all stats that aren't already max iv and the the regular bottle caps max out 1 iv of your choosing per bottle cap so lets say your pokemon already had 4 max ivs and you just need to max out 1 stat you'd use the normal bottle cap instead of the gold bottle cap cause the gold bottle cap would max out the 2 remaining stats when you just needed the 1 but on the other hand lets say you don't know much about ivs and your pokemon has no max iv stat but you want them to have everything maxed out then you'd use the gold bottle cap since with the gold bottle cap you can max out all the stats with one gold bottle cap instead of using 6 normal bottle caps 1 for each iv stat

You know toast is a beginner because even in his team preview he got two of his own Pokémon wrong 😭. I would recommend using 2,2,2 for an easy team if you choose to do this again. Dondozo and tatsugiri as one team of two, chi-yu and flutter as another, and then depending on what you want, either urshifu tornadus, rillaboom, H-arc, or something to help in the trick room match up like iron hands. You could also just use indeedee armarouge for something super easy and super strong. Its probably not the best in the current format, but its probably easier than this team for a beginner.

Yeah, Urshifu's Single Strike form is a Dark/Fighting type. By terrastalizing into a pure Dark-type, it lost its resistance to Rock-type moves by getting rid of its Fighting-type. However, removing the Fighting-type also removed its Flying weakness, so it was able to survive the Bleakwind Storm.

I think one of the problems with the VGC format (double battles) is that you have very few ways to win in case the enemy team is a direct counter to yours. In single battles, that's not at as big of a problem. With that said, I do think double battles enable much more interesting strategies.

It is definitely doable to beat teams that counter you, you should build your team in a way that you have options and aren’t just completely walled by some teams. Its kinda better in vgc then something like smogon bc you’re only bringing 4/6 so you can bring different combos depending on the other team.

@@olivernell4283 As I said in the reply to the other guy, yes, if you're only playing meta teams with the top 10 or whatever Pokémon. The top VGC teams all basically use the same teams, because they are the most versatile. Why? Because teams get screwed over otherwise.

small correction Toast sama, Rocky Helmet hurts the opponenet when it uses a contact move, if you want to make your pokemon bulkier you may want to use an assault vest, kee or maranga berry or a stat boost defensive move ;) other than that i hope we see more pokemon from mr Toast
