Does it Live Up to the HYPE?
Recently I was given the opportunity for an early access playtest of The Elder Scrolls Online’s latest Chapter called Necrom. I was invited by Zenimax Online Studios out to San Francisco for a special event along with other ESO KZfaqrs and Twitch streamers and had an amazing time, but best of all I was able to test out this latest chapter for a few hours and give my feedback to the developers on everything I’d experienced.
Necrom is by far the most ambitious chapter release in the history of ESO for several reasons which I’ll dive into in this video, but suffice it to say I am extremely hyped for what’s coming to the game this year! The Arcanist Class is FUN and ADDICTING to play and the new zones of the Telvanni Peninsula and the Plane Of Apocrypha are beautifully crafted. Of course, you can also expect everything else you’re used to in a full ESO chapter, including Delves, public dungeons, a new trial, new sets, new juicy mythics, two new Companions, an Arcanist and Warden Companion specifically and several hours of story content to discover so all in all I think it’s going to be amazing! I will do a full review once I have more time spent in the chapter, but overall I really enjoyed what little I got to playtest in San Francisco. Necrom is definitely shaping up to be my favorite ESO chapter so far and I think a lot of people are going to feel the same way. My dragonknight and warden, Healers feel obsolete now so, Just gonna wait for arcanist. I check out the site good stuff. That arcanist sure does have everything it needs. The cube looks like fun and the shield ultimate arcanist for the tank tree haven't seen that yet. I did watch the preview for the las vegas event though was good.

I know we're not likely to get something as major as a new weapon type until at least next year if not probably two or three years down the line but I will say I hope that at some point they decide to go down the route of adding in a spell tome weapon type that works like the staff with three elements. Like if it works where there was the purple dark magic spell tome, the red blood spell tome, and the green apocryphal magic spell tome how to make a spell tome almost like the dark version of the staves then I would already be awesome but I also think I would love even more if they also actually managed to tap into the spellcrafting system with perhaps either at first it could just be a weapon with of course it's five abilities and like the staff, the visual and gameplay effects of each ability will change depending on which type of spell tome you use or perhaps starting off as it's simply just a matter of all new spells you create, you need a Spellbook to cast them. Either way I'd alternate Lee love to see this as a thing or perhaps he'll, they could create an entirely separate spellcrafting system where there's one for the world line that allows you to craft new spells, and then of course there would be the one that's actually the Spellbook that would not perhaps being the weapons line but instead in the world line as well so that way no matter what weapon you use, you can use your crafted spells within the active casting them you'll pull out a Spellbook much like the Arcanist abilities.

Ultimately I just really want to see both a Spellbook weapon line that has green magic glass and abilities that match the apocryphal Magic cuz I'm one of those mild RP guys that makes a build based on a coherent theme like blood Mage or dark Mage or something as opposed to actual combat ability and it would be nice to see some more things that could play into RP shit like that

Found the information I was looking for on the changes coming in attunable table structure 😁 We will STILL need to aquire the individual tables and feed them into another station that combines each set into one multi-craft station for that set. So go forth in your attunable collections for guild halls...according to what I've read, we'll still need them!

I just started ESO (about a month ago, now) and there are so many QoL things I have heard about that I dunno how you guys lived without. I started because I’m starved for Thesda content. And it just so happens that the next expansion takes us to Hermaeus Mora’s Domain. My favorite Daedric Prince

Ty hack as usual well done. Initially I had a good vibe about the class, now it's more pause for caution. I hope when it goes live it's adjusted. So many years of nerfs/adjustments etc takes a toll for everyone. Also, I see the passive crit, and the combo building (I like that idea) getting crushed due to pvp complaints. I should just imagine a group of people trying to take a keep and an arcanist with max crux using that beam to crush everyone. The visuals look amazing for sure. That new dlc showcases the abilities (to a point) and it's definitely refreshing. It would be very cool to have a class that uses two bars and all class abilities, would be something different. Ty hack for the work and time put in....

I gotta ask, with what you have experienced of the Arcanist so far, how good would you say they could be made for a one bar build? Or at least a low intensity build? I have an issue where I cannot be constantly swapping weapons while also spamming 5-6 buttons, and so your one bar builds have been a tremendous help for me to be able to get back into ESO. And with the abilities swapping their resources based on which one you have higher, I am very curious if there would really be any difference between Stam and Mag dps aside from race and weapons.

For me as a tank main, I surely will make one too. I just have the feeling, that Arcanist in its current form is kinda useless as a tank, when there is an Arkanist healer in your group, who can provide the group with Minor Courage. However in pugs, thats very strong and also the stealing armor idea looks very cool.

With rune blades hitting 3 times a second, the ult hitting twice a second and fatecarver hitting 3 times a second I can't wait to dust off my draugrkin's grip set. Plus the ink from the tentacle arm increases damage taken meaning draugrkin's will do even more tacked on damage. Seems like it'll be fun just

Sounds to me like ESO is due for a new engine. I'm aware it's not a copy/paste task. Technology is moving forward and eventually they'll have to catch up to it. I won't be surprised if they've already started working on it.

Its really hard to care when they don't put a class change token. I would love to make Arcanist my main so I actually get good play out of it. If I make it just another dungeon, trial, or pvp toon I'll very rarely play. I already have 11 toons built and I play my main 80% of the time

Lmao except of motifs and recipes that could cost too much reading them twice I don't see the point in a class change token. And it really doesn't matter on what character you can craft, at least you have one who can do all. If you play good you will have some millions, buy riding books by other players, simple as that, currently 1:1700 makes it 30kk for all 3 riding skills. Should be worth a new main doesn't it. Even tho you don't need riding stam and inventory space, can be chilly levelled while playing daily. What is left is 10m for riding speed, all the skills and the char itself is levelled up in 1h in blackrose prison. Psyjic and Mages guild takes 1 day if you combine it, just done it on my new DK. Probably the worst part is collecting shards but simply grind your char to 50 and then start going all dungeons one by another you get a skillpoint and much undaunted exp every dungeon. As I said, I recently swapped from templar to dk and it probably took me 2 days and 15m gold to have a solid char for any content. Crafting is my templar for, 1min of relog should not be a problem tho. This token will destroy eso pvp completely as everyone will swap their class to whats meta currently, this token will ruin the game.

@@maxmustermann2367 So I'm big on story. My main is what I do all my story content with. Alot of recurring characters recognize you from previous adventures and behave accordingly. You know how many hours of content I would have to repeat to replace my main for a new one? Yeah, class change token would be nice for that. Everything you just listed is still tedious as fuck. I e done most of this for 11 characters. My point holds weight. Youve got your opinion I have mine

Waaait....can you slot that buff that persists on bar swap to your back bar with Oakensoul? Because if they copy that system with other buffs in the future, then that could be broken. Sounds like something that could slip through the cracks considering it's redundant with that particular skill.

One of my biggest gripes of most classes in ESO is that the best abilities for each of them were neutral abilities, way too much.

I won't lie, I had never played ESO since I have played WoW for 17 years and FF for a couple years.. So my MMO time was pretty tapped. But, With changes to WoW that was really not favorable for me, I wanted to find an MMO that would be new, exciting, still have a good player base etc.. and So my dad suggested ESO as he's been a Bethesda lover for years and years.. I seen the Necrom expansion trailer and seen the arcanist, and I just fell in-love instantly. So I bought it on steam while it was on sale.. Installed it, and I'm so hooked. Granted, I fell for the Nightblade and ESO even brought out my RP Side so she has a whole story to her and I love it. This game has really breathed some fresh air into my MMO Love again.. and I'm 100% Here for it, Already pre-purchased Necrom.

What I wonder about is how do you actually deal decent damage in PvP with that class? The beam is gonna be dodged easily, tentacles deal low damage and the rune blades don't seem different then any other range spamable

Thanks for the preview> I am probably in the minority here but I am worried that the servers can handle the new mechanics when everyone jumps in, when they frequently bog down even now during big events. Honestly I do not much care for the combat visuals with books etc or that particular plane of Oblivion, I think in a group it will be nuts to see anything for all the visual effects going off. I am looking forward to revisiting the Telvani peninsula, (been there in Tamriel rebuild) the new companions sound great and the new game mechanics sound promising especially if they translate to other classes. I will get the chapter for sure, when it goes on sale...

@@calste85 Was warden not extremely weak at launch? It had to be buffed to hell and back to be viable in PVE Warden: Mag warden was the lowest dps class in the game, and its pvp wasnt good enough to compensate that. Stam warden was not topping charts but was a good class for pvp. Warden healers took 2 years of changes too feel good. Warden tanks were the third best tank Mag necro didnt top charts. Tank Necro still not the best tank. Stam necro topped charts (was the only broken part of this class). Necro healers were weaker then wardens and paladins and were just an ult bot, only viable as an off healer. Necro pvp was amazing though No new class in ESO has ever launched in an OP state outside of stamina necros

ESO has always had a major PVE focus And if youre wanting to talk about PVP balancing, non of the new classes have been insanely broken in PVP aside from Necros in battlegrounds. PVP balance is always centered around the monster set and nothing else LMAO

@@Raydr62 I don't care if the King of England plays PvE, it's still dumb. Also no matter what PvP is balanced around it's irrelevant to the overtuned-ness of each class when it was first introduced. Sure warden wasn't as bad as mitigation stacking Necro but it still had most of the buffs in the game, the AoE shulks, as well as that healing ult.

Totally unrelated: but why have you not showcased a 1 bar dragon knight tank build hack? I’ve made a lot of one bar builds that you have showcased and created my own 1 bar Tank from that knowledge and it’s great, unkillable even. I think you should check it out. I started by following your vampire tank build, but scrapped the vampire bit and made a few other changes.

One tiny correction: we HAVE seen Apocrypha in Skyrim: Dragonborn. But we have never see it so fleshed out like this until TESO: Necrom

@@ADarklore Yes this is true. What I should have said is this. Is anyone willing to start a new character and go through earning all the typical passives again. Think of crafting and scrying types of passives as examples.

Yes, and with money. Zos will introduce more level up utilities to the crown store just for this class. I am a bit surprise that they had not done a unlock everything purchase yet.

The visuals are awesome! It looks really really nice, although I am not a great fan of those yellowish neon green light effects of the skills. Would change them to red or purple in an instant for crowns if there would be an opportunity in the crown store. I hope that the hype in your voice means that the class will do well at soloing contents with the right equipment and build. :) I am beginning to feel good about the chapter in general. Harder overland challanges would also be so nice to have.

I've had ESO for years and several of the expansions, but I've just never been able to get into it. All this stuff looks great and I'd love to go to Apocrypha, but every time I try to play the game I just end up feeling like I'd rather go play (modded) skyrim instead. I don't know if Im just doing something wrong and maybe playing the wrong class/builds

@@AGrumpyWitch I think that's my problem too. I've usually tried playing stam sorc, warden, necro, Im planning to give it another go and try a magicka build instead. Maybe staves will feel better than the weird attacks of other weapons

@@SajiriArt Considering the game seems more adjusted for Magicka builds than Stamina, one of your biggest struggles may well have been trying to play a Stamina build. Magplar is awesome and has been my main for years, and even then, Stamplars aren't too bad for 'non-competitive' play at least.

I hope they add new housing features... I really wanna be able to put our other characters in our houses as NPCs kinda like guess but in their own category n the characters will be switched out as you change characters. Maybe be able to go up to one of them n interact with them to switch to them instead of going to character select menu

Does not matter how many classes or chapter they add, the real problem is the aging game engine! No amount of paint and polish can make a house sturdy and lasting. At the core of it, this class is still re-skin/re-colour of other class mechanics.

Although the classe looks absolutley fire, i am concerned about all the other problems they still need to fix. Performance should be the top priority. Make the damn game work how its supposed to work and then update current content such as PvP, Trials, Dungeons, etc… Also release the Arcanist and please slowly upgrade skills and visuals of older classes. And integrate more QoL and in-game achievable awards please. That’s what we need

Is Apocrifa a separate zone than Wardenfel peninsula? I would love more of the Wardenfel looks and feels, Apocrifa is not something I am much hyped so far in terms of looks. I just love all about Morrowind, landscapes, architecture, lore and music, that s the only reason I want to buy the new chapter.

You seem to be an outlier in your review of the new class. Other major reviewers seem to say that it lacks the ability to bring anything new and reliable to tanking, and also does not lend itself to one bar builds especially heavy attack builds. Are they correct in their assessment?

Having content creators come to a sneak peak tells me they are really trying hard to connect the creators to advertise the new chapter, that’s a very good thing imo if they take your feedback seriously.
