This is actually his second MLB game, and his second one named for 2006 because before The Show 989 Sports(now SDS) named their games for the year after they released. Which they realized wasn’t necessary the way basketball and football games do because baseball doesn’t finish in the year after the season started.

This is the game that got me hooked to this series. I bought on a whim with very low expectations and couldn’t put it down after playing for three first time. The Show games were amazing up until MLB 13… then they decided to lower the overall pitch speed and make the game unplayable. I used to play MLB 13 with the pitch speed slider maxed out. If you go back to MLB 06 that would be the equivalent of default. Every year SCEA lowered the pitch speed to the point where it no longer has a simulation feel to it. So glad I bought these old games and they still work. Still playing them to this day. This game was amazing!

This was so nostalgic for me. SDS needs to bring back classic game modes like King of the Diamond! That was my favorite mode besides franchise. Everything about this game was fun! The pregame presentation was amazing, the music playlist was better, the rewards list was great with fun little things like “big ball” and “big heads”. SDS TAKE NOTES!!!!

For the baserunning you need to press the face button of the dude you want to control which it shows while they are running and use your DPAD on controller to choose the base you want them to go to. Its the classic running interface. I used to use it all the time until about MLB 22 the show lol.

Rivalry mode was legendary. Me and my boy had a Yankees Red Sox rivalry that we’d play all summer while playing travel ball. Would keep your record and stats vs each other. Revolutionary mode. Need it back but online

The fluidity of the animations for a game that’s almost 20 years old is wild. It’s better than the 2020s. Also, Albert Pujols is insane in this game. MLB 07 and 08 the show are also really fun
