There are 6 films, and 3 of them are direct sequels to Terminator 2 (5 and 6 operate as if 3 never happened). Most people only care about the first 2, that's why the later ones try to ignore part 3 and 5. Terminator 4 is different.

In terms of Kyle Reese, perhaps it’s relatively easy for me to say, since I’ve watched this movie countless times, but: 1. He doesn’t behave like an assassin. 2. He doesn’t exhibit any sign of being a villain. 3. Not the least factor, but the flashback/forward from the future features him as a member of the human resistance and combating the machines. After those 3 factors, especially the last, why in the world would anyone be under the impression that he’s looking to kill Sarah Connor and even be surprised to learn that he’s a protector.

Dark is an underappreciated masterpiece. Many of the same actors went on to be in other James Cameron's movies. Michael Biehn, Lance Henrickson and Bill Paxton were all in Aliens for example. Arnold's agent didn't want him to be in this movie because he was a villain, but it was his star making role as it turned out after Conan the Barbarian.

There are 6 films (and a TV show) in the Terminator series. It is pretty much universally accepted that the second film is the peak, and many would say the 3rd through 6th are not even worth watching, though some people enjoy some of them. The TV show ( _Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles_ ) was good, however. But it only lasted for 2 seasons and 31 episodes.

Terminator 3 has some redeeming points and I did find Terminator Salvation mildly entertaining, but the series definitely peaked with T2 and they could have just as easily left it at that. Actually, I would have liked it better if they'd have spent more time getting into the future post-apocalyptic world part of things in any sequels beyond the second one, which they kinda did with Salvation, but they didn't keep the same otherworldly atmosphere from Cameron's universe so it wasn't what I was hoping for.

Don't exactly agree with you. If you go back in time you are automatically both stopping at least one event and starting another event so you could make the counterargument that the machines caused an infinite number of outcomes by sending a terminator back. Even going back in time and causing one speck of dust to fall in a different direction could alter the outcomes in infinite directions.

@CoffeeMatt10
@CoffeeMatt10 2 жыл бұрын
When you think about it, the events of T1 are the 3rd alteration of the time line. The first, Sarah goes out on her own after her date ditched her and leaves Ginger and Matt behind, she meets John’s original father in the bar she went to when the news report came on, my theory is maybe this guy has some military background and teaches Sarah and John a few things, the war starts and John uses those teachings and leads the resistance to victory. This leads to the first alteration of time as Skynet sends back a Termintor to kill Sarah, the resistance sends back Reece (who in this timeline is not John’s father), he finds Sarah and now becomes John’s father. That leads to Sarah learning military/weapons training through other means, the war starts and John leads the resistance to victory. Skynet again sends a Terminator back, John sends Reece knowing that he is his father, and we now have the events of T1. Also the sending back of the Terminator speeds up Skynet and Cyberdyne Systems’ research as they have the arm and chip of the Terminator, which is why we have the advancement in technology in T2 with the T-1000.
