So, not to be ‘that guy’ but I’m pretty sure a trebuchet is the type of catapult that uses a counterweight to swing the throwing arm, while the catapult the game shows has ropes that are ratcheted back to create a spring-like effect that shoots the swing arm forward when the tension is released
