I know I'm late to the party, but just wanted to say that having 6 boards(as of now), I've experimented myself. I've tried this with my Powell Peralta Jay Smith Re-issue and it worked great, I think I ran the same wheels on it and it just made the board feel better when carving. Also what makes a good difference is swapping out bushings. Depending on what I'm feeling for I'll swap the bushings for either harder/softer to get the ride I want for the day. As of right now, my main board is a Landyatchz Switchblade 2018 with Indy 215, Orangatang Caguamas 77a 85mm with Zelaous Ceramic Built-in Bearings, and Bones Hardcore Medium bushings. Its a really low to the grown being that the board is a double drop, plus I'm using traditional trucks, making pushing and commuting a breeze and easy on the knees. Despite the board being 40" long, its still nimble enough to get around clusters of people and with a quick swap of bushings, can handle a decent amount of speed going in a straight line(don't recommend going downhill with it though, not enough leverage to get it to slide and slow down properly, learned that the hard way). Definitely look into bushings as well and just having a spare parts to mess around. It definitely makes skating more interesting knowing you have something just for every occasion.

I did something similar and made a custom cruiser setup for my daughter and then ended up having so much fun on it, that I made one for myself. It got me back into skating after a 10 year hiatus. I took an old 10x30” deck, Krux black widow 9.00” trucks, 74mm wheels and I splurged on some bone Swiss bearing which are 100% worth it. The bearings were the key. I feel like I’m on an electric board.. I push once and it rolls forever. I like it cause I can take it to the skate park and ride the bowls and not feel like I’m on a boat like it was with my longboard.

@OgdenSikel

Yeah! drop through trucks can be top mounted also, making them very versatile. And while the cruiser looks pretty hilarious with these huge trucks, its definitely more stable when going down faster slopes :D
@DRY-C0WB0Y
@DRY-C0WB0Y 9 ай бұрын
There’s no such thing as “drop through trucks”. There’s just trucks, and they can be mounted to about any board (with the exception of 70’s/vintage type, mostly). The board design dictates the mounting. You either have a drop through deck or a top mount deck.

I put these trucks on my board and it's 36" long. No wheel bite but at speed going down a hill they can be shaky and dangerous unless really tight. I will try it more but so far it has been dicey.

Here in Brazil we have a category of skateboard that is not a cruiser or mini, not a street or a longboard, it's what you are doing on this video and it's called semi long or half long, bigger than street, smaller than Longboards but w longboard trucks and wheels, and they're marketed and sold as "semi longs" I'm looking forward to buy one next week

I've always ran 9 inch independents with krooked zipzingers that was about 7.5width 30 inch length, on 63mm wheels, you have to have a width stance when u push, to not kick the wheels but u get mad stability on hills, high speeds, and high agility in a compact package, I dont use risers cuz they make pushing harder, and I'm a pretty light guy so I dont have issues with wheel bite, but if ur a heavier dude then maybe risers. Overall this setup is fukin killer, but the down side is completes dont have this build, so ur gunna have to buy ur parts independently, also you really have to dial everything in from the bushings, ur truck slack, all of cuz wheel bite = death

What brand are the trucks? 180mm reverse kingpin? I would suggest 150mm reverse kingpin for a cruiser (or equivalent in inches for other brands like gullwing 8.5) that's below 9 inch board width. And what measurement are the risers? I couldn't find your boards wheelbase online. I'm thinking about getting a sector nine 31.5 x 8.6 x 14.25 and adding Paris v2/v3 150mm (or close to it like 165mm) reverse kingpins. I gotta add risers to compensate wheel bite. I personally don't like having street trucks on cruisers because I don't do tricks but like the maneuverability. But I heard if you're wheelbase is less than 17 or 20 it's a "bad idea" to add reverse kingpin trucks. So I'm not sure. I even thought of doing a RKT in the front and have Paris street in the back for a cruiser.

@xcharlesbronsonx 8 ай бұрын
@@ekkanofiqandriyana7325 I see what width is your board? For the sector 9 bamboozler? It says it's 8.5" width I emailed Paris for the exact size of their RKP trucks. 1.) 165mm hanger Paris is about 9 inches or 230mm from axle to axle 2.) Paris 150mm hanger is about 215mm or 8.465" axle to axle width 3.) Paris 180mm is about 245mm of 9.645" axle to axle I read that you ideally want the total width of your trucks to be plus or minus 0.25" from the width of the board. The switch is a landyachtz drop through. The width is 9.8" so ideally you'd need caliber or bear trucks in 180mm which is about 10" axle to axle. Paris 180mm is 9.6" axle to axle I've never heard of the carbon aileron board from 121c. How is it?

@@xcharlesbronsonx for the slightly wheels overhang axle length VS deck width, yes i love my setup being overhang quite a bit for the speed stability and comfort because i skate for cruising only nothing crazy tricks but sometimes ollie and kick turns and some slides only. For the aileron i sometimes switched the paris to caliber 150 because the deck has a good 19 inch wheelbase. The 121c aileron is a apocalyptic board 31 inch x 8.7 and the thickness of the board is only 3.5mm which is made from pure aircraft carbon fiber, here is some link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbOTecl9x9DRlZs.htmlsi=c72QQVfPYMpQREY2 And the Switch is not the landyachtz, its a poland company SWITCH boards the type is quokka its 30 inch x 8.7 composite deck made of hard wood and fiberglass The Switch quokka and 121c aileron are way way better than any landyachtz dinghy and tugboat, for the bamboozler I can't say much about that super awesome bamboo deck its a *GEM*

I recently bought an ultra carve tugboat. It's literally this, a LY tugboat but with RKP polar trucks. Ironically, I wish it felt more stable because i love taking it on ramps at the skatepark because it can carve so well. I even tried tightening the trucks and it actually felt less stable. Not sure but going to keep tweaking it because the turn radius when your carving on quarter pipes is unreal.

So you did a truck swapping test and never mentioned the turning differences. It didn’t look like you did anything but cut a straight swath across the parking lot either. Not only that, but when you stated you didn’t experience wheel bite you failed to include the fact that the board is barely even as wide as the gap between the wheels- so of course you’re not going to get bite. Your board probably has an extra 5° of lean because a proper setup would have a matching deck width, where the deck actually has an opportunity to touch the wheel. Hope you had fun, but this really is a dangerous setup for multiple reasons- sketchy turning at speed and foot-to-wheel bite (especially if foot braking, but also while pushing) among them. Hopefully nobody copied you and got hurt. You should probably pull this video before someone does.
