Hi everyone, and welcome to my little studio tucked away deep in the Northwoods. Today, I'm telling my story about how I quit my job working full time as a jeweler on Etsy late in 2022 and why. I'm taking a crazy risk and I've set myself the goal of one year to try to make at least a part-time income as an artist! We will be talking a little about Etsy and the pros ad cons of selling on their site, following your dreams, and how chronic illness can change those dreams. Lots of love and happy creating! ~Amy

I stumbled upon your channel and just watched your story. I heard a quote the other day that says "Don't wait for the light to change," and I think it's great that you are going for it, and not holding off for the perfect time. Also, thank you for thanking the teachers of the world. I've been teaching special education for 30 years and it is not easy, especially these days. I wish you all the very best with your health, your family and your new career.

Hi Amy, you're read my comments before I know.... (I'm the lady who always says not to play music during your videos because it's too hard to hear you talk and you have such a lovely voice and so much good to say.)..... I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. I understand totally because I suffered from the same problems since I was 9 and I'm considerably older than that now by many decades. I just finished Chemo Treatments for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma which they don't think was caused by the bowel or auto-immune issues. It just happened. I will say though that in my own case, it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. My faith in God grew stronger. I met so very many wonderful people and was blessed with hundreds of people who prayed for me so I know their faith was made stronger too! ❤ I had many miracles happen during the time of my illness and I expect many more. I am also a professional artist (40+ years as an illustrator and designer). There are many outlets for your artwork. Look into book jacket design, fabric design for clothes & housewares, designs for greeting cards, stationery etc. There are online outlets like CafePress & Redbubble ( thisonlineworld.com/sites-like-cafepress/ ). You will make it- I'm in the process of watching ALL of your videos and you are a fine artist! You're in my prayers. God bless & thank you for sharing. (I will comment often if it's ok.🥰 )

Thank you so much for leaving such a kind, encouraging and thoughtful comment. It means so very much to me. And I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I understand the struggle so much. The fact that you turned it into something positive gave me hope, and I have been struggling lately with holding onto hope. I've failed so many treatments and had a partial obstruction at Christmas. I am doing my best to believe and have faith. At least my new biologic is an injection after the first loading dose. It will be nice not to have to go into the infusion center. It was nice to hear a little bit more about you and I hope to hear from you again soon! 💓💓💓

Thank you for sharing your story. I was forced to leave my job in 2015 due to medical issues. I am now on social security disability which isn't helping my mental health. So, last year I decided to start painting again, which I hadn't done in 40 years. I'm hoping to sell my work some day, or at least prints and other items (I don't even know where to begin), and was considering opening an Etsy account, so I would love to see a video on your Etsy experience. I wish you all the success you deserve in your new endeavor! 😁

Amy, Thank you so much for being so open about your personal life! Your story is inspiring and I'm sure your KZfaq channel will thrive! I watched your video on "Art Supplies I've Wanted" this morning and now I'm here. I have liked and subscribed and will share your channel with my art friends and family. I'm happy to have found you here, as I love watercolor and pastel, and love to see other people making art. I was especially happy to hear about the fact that you have several art pieces on boards at the same time, as I do this too, and was wondering if anyone else did this.... Anyway... Thank you again. Your honesty is much appreciated and I will be watching all of your videos and look forward to see what else you post.

Kathryn, thank you so much. I am so glad you appreciate it. To be honest, for many years I've hidden my chronic illness and tried to pretend I was perfectly fine. Hardly anybody knew. I think something just switched in me these last couple of years. I'm not willing to put up with things I used to, and I'm not okay pretending to be someone I'm not. But these videos have been a huge departure from how I lived until now, and they are scary! So your kind words of acceptance really truly do mean a lot to me. @@MandyLovesBooks I know exactly what you mean! I was in that same boat, especially from October to January the first three years.
