I have been a dog owner all my life and never really liked cats, now My fiance and I have this little 14 week old who thinks he is a dog because I do things I would do with a dog, I throw his toy and he fetches it and brings it back for round 2, he is a cutie.

My sister in law had a cat that would play fetch with bread ties and always bring it back. Honestly it amazed me at the time, but with a lot of love and patience you can train a cat to do "doglike things". Im a dog person but my landlord only allows cats, fish etc... Anyway we have two cats atm, a female and male from the same mother. Gus, the male, is a very stubborn cat, but will still chase after things and he will let you know what he wants with a meow, intelligent but stubborn. Tilly on the other hand is about 5 or 6 months younger than Gus, same mother just different litter, yet she is more trainable and more affectionate. Shes the type of cat that will cuddle up with you at night and will listen to certain orders. BUT THE CAT IN THIS VIDEO ACTS JUST LIKE A DOG. 🐕 hella responsive and completely understands what its owner is commanding. Does anyone have any tips? Youngest cat is only 6 months old so seems like she has potential.

Our cats Edison and Dweezil have been leash trained and car trained for years! They love it. It balances their hormones to get outside and socialize and scent their "areas". They were both trained to start going outside and me just walking with them, and then the leash. They are the only cats I see doing this... but now you've amped up cats abilities. Thank you for this - you're incredible. And I love your beautiful girl !

While out walking Didga, I hear stories of others walking their cat too, but most just say they tried walking their cat but the cat just flopped over and wouldn't walk. I'm sending them all to my video tutorials.

So very inspiring! I've used clicker training to teach my cat to walk on a leash around my house, but I'm nervous going out beyond that in case he gets scared and runs off. Your videos give me so many great ideas! Thanks for sharing!!

She is beautiful. I have always had my mates look at me strange when my boys sit or stand or give a paw for a treat, And when I walk around my complex with them following me or come when I call people are a little perplexed. You cant make a cat do what it doesn't want to do but show it enough love and a treat to eat earn some trust and it will literally jump through hoops. My boys aren't too keen on dogs though. Gotta get that jumping over them at the park thing down.

TOTALLY inspiring! Thanks so much for all your training and the vids - An awesome 4 mo. kitten showed up at my farm last week, claimed me. Started clicker training that night, for quiet, sit, wait to go in and out the door. We go on walks, she lets me know when she needs to go out. Worked on getting in and out of the car and in and out of a crate yesterday. Will add in leash too. Just doing things I would do with my dogs for basic skills to start. Prior to seeing your vids, I might not have thought to do all this - at least not so specifically. Watching how you broke down all the steps helped shift my mindset to apply what I know from dog and horse training - opened all sorts of ideas - and you give great techniques. So fun.

You know, I had this cat once. Her name was Camie. She was a Siamese Short Hair Mix, and we leash trained her since kitten hood. She was very good on a leash and was ok with, till one day she just decided "no" and stopped walking on a leash. You put the leash on she would lay down and growl. and she wouldn't walk.

Too many cats are pent-up in small apartments and expected to be happy. Cats need to run and climb and jump because it's hard-wired into them. This would give them an opportunity to work off that energy without getting run over or eaten by coyotes.

Black tabbby! Very intelligent breed. You did an awesome job. I never wanted mine to be a car cat, but her wanted it to be that way. I got pulled over by state police in Tennessee one time. He thought I had an illegal cat breed because Dakota was 35 lbs at his largest(year 7) He's about 3 feet long total. (not including his tail) he's much older now and getting smaller as he asked but he's still a great senior cat at 19! :-)

My cats are leash trained too & over the years people are very surprised to see this -so I use those times & others to try to educate people about the far too many misconceptions about cats... Such as they can be trained like dogs & are just as smart as dogs -if not smarter!- & that they can do & are so very much just in a smaller package, yet with such huge hearts & so much love to give! ! ! KITTY POWER ALL THE WAY :)

I taught my cat to walk on a lesh in 1985 when I was 5 I think I was one of first to do this love how cats show people how dang smart they truly are

I started out with a above average confident cat, then I clicker trained her to be more confident around some of the things she was showing fear too. I also try to desensitize her around the house to unfamiliar noises and objects. There are some things she still is afraid of but I don't have the time to get her over them... So we just try to avoid those things. I also take her out in my car and around the down-town commotion almost everyday since she was a kitten.

Thanks so much for all of these great videos! I am getting a cat in three weeks. And I'm reading books, watching videos, and even made a cat condo just for her out of refurbished shelving. I am so excited to take her on walks to the beach and every where else I go. Everyone who I told that I bought a harness for the cat laughed at me. I got faith in my little ball of fur she will be great!

Brilliant video! As i leash walk my 2 Siamese together with my 2 show cocker spaniels, its great to see a video like this. And the basic dog commands too! Sure it takes a little more patience to train a cat for commands and leash walks but its so worth itm And the cats love going for a walk! The exercise, exploration, and mental stimulation from a cat walk results in a much happier, chilled out one at home. Plus a closer bond wity your cat as they dont just see you as something to keep its food dishes full.

i like whats you're doing man nice to see someone who spends time with their cat because a lot of people only feed them and pet them on the head once a while and cats are very social animals. my cat does almost the same things but only without a leash and he doesn't jump on my back but he does shakes hands, sit, flows, wait and a lot more when I tell him to, his name is Yoshi and he's a cream colored EU-shorthair male almost 2 years old. I don't use a leash because he's my friend and not my pet and I think it looks silly to walk a cat on a leash (nothing against people who do use a leash) so that's why I taught my cat to follow me like a dog sinds he could walk/run properly (he's born at my place)

I recently have decided to keep one of my cats kittens, while her siblings, mother, aunts and grandmother went to a farm to take care of the mice. I've been teaching her stuff like how to walk on a leash (work in progress) and she is semi comfortable in water. We have a lot of things to work on, like sit and stay, but stay is going better than I expected. I'm now just binge watching your videos while she naps :,)

reminds me of when i had a savannah cat and i would walk her,occasionally at night she would scurry up a tree and there i was standing under a tree with a leash going straight up.....looked like i was walking a tree.

I am so happy to discover your video today! It is delightful to see you going out all over the place with Didja. She is one smart cookie! And I bet she has YOU trained to give her kitty treats! I just bought a Kitty Holster Halter for my cat Oliver (15) and Grayson (5). Oliver had been and indoor-outdoor cat for a long time. I'm living in a 1 BR now -- even with them playing and chasing one another, I know they could both use some more exercise. Grayson has never been outside (he was given to me 2 years ago August). Today (if the thuderstorms let up) I'm going to get a leash. If Oliver is okay with it, I am sure Grayson will be more amenable to trying something around his body. This will be fun to try. And, I'll get flea and tick stuff (not a collar) for both of them when I start to bring them outside. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Enjoy Didja for many, many years! I notice that the key to having the cat walk with her owner is that he gives the cat many many opportunities to climb and jump. Cats instinctively need this type of physical activity and it's a great way to get the cat and the owner out and see the world.

that's cool! My old cat Ginger was just like that, walked him on a leash, drove around in the car, came when we whistled, sat...and kissed me on the nose! He passed away...but my new cat, who is older, Zeus, is not as cool as Ginger, oh well! He does take awesome portraits! LOL

Although I don't have a tutorial on "come" (yet), watch step two on how to walk your cat on a leash, I kinda show how to "pair" a voice cue with a reward.

Good question: If you were to take them for a walk everyday and let them go potty in some sand, soft dirt, wood chips, etc... this "may" affect using a litter box inside your home? if you walk them just 2-4 times per week then there should be no affect. If your cats use the human toilet, then consistently letting them go potty outside can definitely affect the toilet training.

Me too. My cat is a Bengal/Black Tab/Egyptian Mar mix. Cats a are rarely given the credit for how intelligent they are! My cat sits on command. He wags his tail once for no, and twice for yes.

Hi, We saw you this morning at Greenmount beach and you and your cat are amazing!! Supercat was skateboarding and was the most gorgeous thing to watch as he looked so happy and relaxed. Do you have any video's of this yet? My 14yo daughter has been trying to train our cat to skateboard and so far he's been happy to sit on the board as she pushes him forward and back...I now have complete confidence that she can do it. Best wishes
