This intro is one of the best intros I’ve ever seen lol

I wish LEGO realized there are two main types of LEGO collectors. Ones that like highly detailed, premium sets and collectors that value minifigs. I really wish this set was 2/3 its size and more accurate. Along the lines of a LEGO architect line. Or similar to what they are doing with Star Wars miniships. A very accurate and detailed 360 Barad Dur for around $250USD. Throw in maybe one exclusive minifig. Then have 4-6 smaller, more affordable sets with all these minifigs. This way here, if you want Barad Dur, you don't have to break the bank. Or if you wanna collect the minifigs, you could buying cheaper sets. This way everyone is happy. The highly detailed collector gets a nice display model. And fans wanting minifigs could over the course of a year(or more) buy a series of more affordable sets to collect the minifigs.

After watching the designer interview on Brick Fanatics I feel like Barad-Dur was such a great set choice to come after Rivendell. The designer mentioned they wanted to show the origin of the Fellowship using Rivendell and the goal of the Fellowship fulfilled using Barad-Dur so the two go really well with one another not only as contrasting sets thematically but also as a way to show the overall progression of the Lord of the Rings story. The only issue this brings now though is whether or not they will want to make future sets given that the design team have accomplished what they wanted to do with the two sets. I reckon if they do make a third set next year and not a wave of smaller sets it will no doubt be a set from the Two Towers so they have one large D2C set for each book/film and that location will all but certainly be Helms Deep. I doubt they would make a new Tower of Orthanc to compete against Barad-Dur.

Mouth of Sauron office in the top of the tower has a sticker with the blacked out silhouette of the Fell Beast and it matches the box art of the GWP.

4:37 the gear wheel is for the skeleton then the gears in the mid has a bar that goes out of the right side to a gray block and that is to open the 2 doors in the front of the set.

Sauron looks great, can't wait to get my hands on him, "the bnasty mouth black gate guy" lolm, and Gothmog. Orcs look great. But I agree, more care should have been put into Frodo and Sam. By the time they get to Mordor, they've walked 10,000 miles, mountain climbed a few times, seen a few battles, and gone for a swim. Now they're trecking across Mordor. They should've at lease been worn OR been in their orc armor disguise to match the helmets. Two repeats from another $500 set is down right annoying. Previously I said there should be more figs but honestly, the price per piece is really good for a license set so I can look past that but the missed opportunity of getting an Isildur and an Elendil, battle worn Elrond, Gil Galad, etc. still hurts a tiny bit.

360 degree model would be over 10000 pieces and costs over 1 grand. Day 1 purchase but I will keep an eye on the MOC community does to it cause buying pieces and downloading instructions to make it a bit taller or to close it off is cheaper then buying 2 sets.

Wish we could get a dwarf or orc battle pack, Be able to build an army for the war, Or have a few funny builds with orcs. Could you imagine a stage with some orcs singing or dancing? hahah! But yeah, In all seriousness, A cheaper set with some orcs, Or dwarves, Or elves, Or even hobbits, Would be awesome for us who can't spend a bajillion bucks for a massive set.

The intro was awesome. Lego is marketing more to the adults that grew up with Lego sets, like myself. I started collecting in the last few years but it’s an expensive hobby. However if you don’t build them and keep the set in mint condition you will get your money back someday. Not sure though if Lego wants to become known for a bunch of “old” geeks like myself collecting and reselling these sets, but that’s where it looks to be headed.

the set is not worth 400 pounds. ridiculous. people can’t even save up as it is only going to get more expensive as time goes on. pretty sure it’s a limited edition set too. buy it now or miss out basically
