I'm a runner! You did great! I think the important thing to remember is that your mile time will only drop so much if you're soley running a mile at a continuous arerobic pace. It's hard to have improvement without longer endurance training and speed and training as well. Props to you for pushing yourself in something that isn't within your comfort zone :)

I did cross country and track my freshman year of high school, and let me tell you that running is so hard and it takes sooo long to improve. I started the season with a 12 minute mile, and about 4 months later i got my mile down to 7 minutes and 30 seconds. I had to put in sooo much work for this to happen though like we had practice for 2 hours 5 days a week and did long runs all the time so it is for sure not something that happens quick and easy LOL

I wouldnt call myself a "runner" but I've 'gone for a run' almost every day pretty consistently since May 2020 and I've just got stamina to a point where I can manage to run for 25 minutes with no breaks

I do cross-country at my high school and honestly I'm very proud of you because your time was good. You pushed yourself even when it felt hard and that's what running is about. If you want to improve your time just consistently keep running and it will get easier each time. Running is not an easy task but its your determination that helps and I can tell that you have this. Love you

You’re not supposed to stretch before running because it can cause injury. Stretch afterwards :)
@elliejordan3233
@elliejordan3233 2 жыл бұрын
@@thelisarahman if you’re thinking only of static stretching, yes I will agree with you, but doing some dynamic stretching before working out is actually super important for the same reason you said not to do (I’m assuming you meant static) stretches: prevention of injury. There is evidence that static stretching before a run can increase the likely hood of injury, but going into a run cold, with no stretching beforehand, is also going to increase the probability of an injury occurring.
@thelisarahman
@thelisarahman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elliejordan3233 what dynamic stretching are we talking about? Typically i walk and increase my pace before i start running and then do like a full body stretch adterwards
@elliejordan3233
@elliejordan3233 2 жыл бұрын
@@thelisarahman that is also smart, starting slow and building up is a good thing to do to decrease your risk of injury, and a full body stretch afterwards also is beneficial. I can’t say which stretches are necessarily the best, but Yale Medicine recommends side lunges, “glute and piriformis activation” which I can’t easily describe very well briefly, but if you want I can link the website I’m getting this from, arm circles (start small and getting bigger), bent knee swings, and straight leg lateral swings. This all of course is to warm you up, which walking before going to a faster pace will produce a similar if not the same effect, and I’m not trying to tell you what to do, I just thought I should share the information I have. It sounds like you know what works for you and that you’re being safe, so if it works for your that’s great.

My friend and I both did track in middle school and high school and decided we want to start running again a couple of months ago and we improved really quickly even though we both hadn’t done track in like 5 years. We were both active people before we started running again so I guess we already had some endurance but I personally think that it really helps that we keep pushing each other to run quicker and longer distances. We usually run 7-10km atm

If people see you they aren't thinking "she's weird", they're thinking "she's doing really well to be out there exercising... I really ought to go get more exercise myself".

Ngl I think I’m good/decent at sprinting, but long distance - yikes😬 I’ve been running long distance nearly every week for abit less than 2 years, and I’m not even better. Anyone know why I’m not better even though I have been running quite along time?? Is it because I used to have more energy?
@briannamuszynski3676
@briannamuszynski3676 2 жыл бұрын
Your probbaly not getting better Bc maybe your not increasing the amount of miles you run if you just run the same amount of miles everyday your not gonna get any better and your speed won’t increase you need to run higher mileage for a while and also do increment training to get faster.

It's funny to think how different they are. The twins are so committed to the channel and school work/fitness. No BF, probably never kissed a boy. While Maggie is your typical 20 year old. The least interested in the channel, definitely parties and gets it from Sam her BF in every position. Again a NORMAL 20 year old.
