There are no better Pokemon Rivals in the anime than these pokemon characters that Ash is fought against. Ok maybe, but still. I hope we see Ash fight these rivals again in pokemon journeys the series.

Can’t disagree with the top 5. Number 1 is a no brainer other rivals can’t compete with the story telling and history between Paul and Ash. Love the Hacker man 9000 Tobias joke 🤣 for giving us Ash’s future rivals after Gen 4.

I’m glad you put Cynthia on this list. She’s an amazing character I think and her and ash’s full battle was extremely satisfying to me overall. Right before the final battle with Leon of course.

If I’m being really honest, I liked the spontaneous nature of the journeys series with ash and goh going to a different region every episode. You never knew what to expect. Looking forward to seeing how horizons turns out as well.

For some reason I kept on agreeing to some videos about ranking Ash's rivals cause i really like seeing the rivals in the anime i haven't watched. The pokemon anime i started was the xy anime cuz thats the only anime i firstly watched and I'm obsessed with it... i wanna see more content of these cuz i rlly want to see the others opinion. I watched this from the 20th time now... i really liked the videos you make especially this one that males me laugh about what you said about Kiawe being Ash's friend then tells them to shut up. Still, i find your videos very interesting and cool. I wanna see more content like there so ya keep the video contents you got

Sawyer was great because he was the flip side of the coin - we saw the rival develop and get stronger. Alain was great because of his style - he was cool, calm, confident and has a Mega Charizard X. Gary is great because he was the first - he's known Ash the longest, and his personal connection to Ash allows him to drive Ash further in order to succeed against him. Paul is great because of his training methods - they were diametrically opposed to Ash's methods, and he was equal to Ash, so their final battle has more stakes.

Sawyer is the best rival for Ash because it causes Ash to undergo development, because he surpassed Ash and made him really examine why he loved battling and getting to see himself more as a learner more even though X and Y was at the peak of his powers…

I Hope Trip make the cut because of thumbnail😅. I'm maybe only one but i like his character. Yeah he is arogant but after battle with Elder (his big idol) he changed a lot. Also has his moments just like help Ash and other when Pidove evolved😅. He deserve some love😪.

I don't like Bea as a character- she's cold, doesn't bother to learn the names of trainers, in Twilight Wings, her pokemon seem to take more care of her than she does of them, and is pretty much only focused on training. She actually feels more like a Paul 2.0 than Trip, imo. But you do make some good points about her as a rival. Leon- it feels like we didn't see him that much, compared to others. Paul and Gary at the top- of course. Gary was the rival that got him going on his journey, then Paul challenges Ash's methods and wanting to give everyone a chance.

Tobias has no place in this list. The only reason he "affected" the Pokemon anime community is because of how outrageous everyone was at his sudden inclusion in the series. To this day, his character and his battle with Ash are associated with bad writing. He had no backstory and no former interactions with Ash. He was just a plot device to prevent Ash from winning. And I don't think that Ash wouldn't have gone to Unova if he had won the Sinnoh League. I mean, if the writers wanted to make a new Pokemon anime with Ash going to Unova, they would have done it nonetheless. It doesn't matter whether Ash won or not.

Just like how you did his companion ranking, you also did his rival ranking 100% GREAT😎👍 even to the top three made sense. It made sense to have Alain after Gary and in my heart I knew Paul was even better 😍 I have a couple stuff to say When it came to Sun and Moon, Ash was pretty much Sonic, Kiawe was pretty much Knuckles, and Gladion was Shadow 😀 I wanted to say that When it came to Sawyer I always hated him 😡 always stay looking up to Ash, taking all of his stuff, I mean it was just wrong and he actually was capable of beating him FROM TAKING HIS MOVES😡 I don't like him one bit

Personally, I don't want Tobias to come back, especially just to rematch Ash. The show would likely do the same they did to Alain, and screw him over just to make Ash look stronger than he really is. And Bea beat Ash, twice, while her Pokémon had recently finished battling other people, so not even at her fullest potential. Cynthia handed Ash the win in the masters 8, no one can convince me otherwise, same with Leon for that matter. Kaiwe was one of the very few people in Alola interested and competent in battling. Sawyer is possibly the only rival who actually grew in skill, confidence, and character, and only lost due to plot armor. And Gladion also got robbed in his last battle with Ash. Personally, I prefer Alain's adventure more than Ash's. Gary also got robbed, losing destroying Ash with just 5 Pokémon, then losing 3 against just 1, 2 of which in one shot, at least Scizor made sense. Paul really was the best rival. His last battle with Ash was strange, only using 1 Pokémon he had used before, using 4 for chip damage, and the other I think was his brothers.

The thumbnail was a lie! Hooray! I’m glad trip didn’t make this list. Honestly he was the worst rival ash ever had! Nowhere near to the same level as Paul. The fact that both ash and trip fought in the first round of the unova league shows what a pointless rivalry it was. Even Stephan was a better rival. But I still think trip is better than Cameron. Nowhere near to the same level. Ash lost to somehow who only had 5 Pokémon and not 6!

did u even watch the full anime series ( diamond and pearl ) and one of the episode of journeys ? hes the definition of a rival tbh , he was strong but nearly the same level as ash , they hated each other at first then respected each other at the end , accepting ash as a true good pokemon trainer , they battled a bunch of times and somehow helped each other out , they had similar goals but had diff ways to achieve it , paul made ash realize lots of things and paul deff had character development bcuz of ash-@@Gadget-ELJMordino126-yt9ci
