My friend, you are doing yourself a disservice if you skip this one. This collection's first 11 games includes...Thunder Force IV, Shining Force CD, Virtua Racing, the unreleased Phantasy Zone, and freaking Popful Mail...I said, Popful Mail! That game alone makes this collection worth its weight in gold. Not only is it an S tier game (it really is) but is so rare that an incomplete copy runs $700+ USD easy. Lastly, since Popful Mail was made by Working Designs I guarantee you there will be more games from them on this list. I would not bat an eye if we saw Lunar Silverstar Story and Eternal Blue in this package. Hell, we might even see Vay. For reference- I say all of this because I do not see Snatcher showing up on this mini console. The reason is fairly simple, Konami owns the rights to Snatcher and they are currently selling it with the PC Engine/Core Grafx/TG-16 mini. While it may only be in Japanese I believe selling the English version of Snatcher on the Sega Genesis Mini 2.0 would invariably cut into sales. I hope I'm wrong because I want to play Snatcher on the new mini as well.

As a Sega CD collector, I can confirm this device is worth its weight in titanium. And yes, if this comes to the US, Snatcher is a MUST, as is The Terminator and Earthworm Jim Special Edition

Funny thing is Shining in the Darkness is the FIRST Shining game ever made. Shining Force came out a year later. And then eventually we got Shining Force 2.

"Eternal Champions 2" would be a possibility as that's from Sega. "Sewer Shark," who knows? That's from Digital Pictures, who's long out of business. I don't know who owns the rights to their stuff at present. "Road Avenger," a.k.a "Road Blaster," that's Data East, who's also out of business. The rights are held by G-Mode, so it would be up to them. "Rise of the Dragon," that would be up to Activision-Blizzard, current owner of Sierra, which owned Dynamix at the time.

Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter... Virtua Cop and Virtua Tennis are the two you missed. There was also Virtua Striker, but I think that stayed in Japan.

For the Virtua series those are the only two with Genesis/32X versions. But later the Virtua series was expanded on other systems to include more with Virtua Tennis, Strikers (soccer), Cop (lightgun shooter) and Virtual On (1v1 or 2v2 mecha fighter with dual joystick controls in Arcade)

Only thinking Sega CD for the moment. Snatcher, Eternal Champions CD, Sol Feace, Keio Flying Squadron, and I'd love Final Fight CD too. I'd add the Lunars but I do NOT expect it'd be possible. SNATCHER is a must, please and thank you Sega.

"Silpheed" was an okay rail shooter. "StarFox" is more interesting and more fun, IMO. But, if there's a Sega CD game that may compare to "StarFox." if not surpass it, it's probably going to be "Soulstar" by Core Design.

That Mega Drive Magical Taruruto game was made by Game Freak. The same people who made Pokemon. None of the Super Famicom games were made by them; only the Mega Drive version

The term you're looking for regarding Shining in the Darkness is Wizardry-like. :) Especially the old-school type like that one, where you don't have any on-screen map and need graphing paper to avoid getting lost in the dungeons.

For Mansion of Hidden Souls, there's a mirror on the 2nd floor that shows you hints as to where to search. If you look in a picture frame inside a room that's behind a velvet rope, it'll activate an area where you need to search and when you go to said area, hit up to examine the area, then hit up again and you SHOULD search the clued area and find something. It's something that isn't implied in the game except possibly the manual. EDIT: I've beaten this game before

I didn't know SEGA is making another new Genesis Mini, and they are adding SEGA CD games as well? Cool. It's about time they added games from their less popular add-on. If they add Lunar 1& 2 plus Snatcher to the list, then it will be more than enough reason to get this. And it will probably give Dave enough reason to stop stealing Joe's copy Snatcher, but I doubt it. 😜

(Yes Snatcher is on the Turbografx-16 mini…..But it’s Japanese only.) I wanna Working Designs Collection too!

With the list of games possibly to be released, I agree Popful Mail being released on the next mini will Be Amazing. Let's hope for more Sega CD releases. Would really be awesome if they made a Mini Sega CD / 32X system. Now that would be taking the mini technology and making it Fun. John, Hope you and the family are doing excellent as always.

When you mentioned Popful Mail had voices added by "whom ever was around the office", that made me think of Ultima 6 specifically on the FM Towns. That version of Ultima was entirely 100% voiced by every one at the Origins office from Austin Tx, so you literally have like richard garriots secretary with a monotone west texas accent trying to voice medieval fantasy characters....sooo epic....epically bad that is.

Oh man - here's hoping that we get a Genesis-branded Tower of Power 2 (with the extenson piece to connect the original Genesis Mini) that we can actually buy when this drops. It's a crying shame that they only released one here in NA as a promotional item that only a few KZfaq creators got sent to them. Overall, the game list is a pretty good start! I hope some of the favorable 32X games also make the cut as well.

Would like to see them add some 32X games. I loved Virtua Racing for 32X so it's too bad they didn't include that version. I know it gets a bad rap, somewhat deservedly, but I have fond memories of 32X from my early teen years. I agree that Snatcher CD would be a great addition to the lineup as well.

Dude!!! Mansion of Hidden Souls is a GREAT game. I beat it back in the day and I was super surprised by how in depth the story is. It comes together slowly so it isn't for everyone but if MYST was a good game to you, MOHS is right up that alley without the difficulty cranked up to a zillion man.

With the inclusion of 32x and CD games I really hope we get Star Wars Arcade and Snatcher on here two awesome and fun games that really showcase each add-on quite well. (Btw if they include one or two fighting games really hope they add the Primal Rage, I swear that fighting game always seem to get ignored and the 32X version would be awesome.)

The last four games mentioned in this video (Sonic CD, Popful Mail, Silpheed, Mansion of Lost Souls) made it sound more than just a retread of previous Sega collections. I already have a Sega collection game disc for PS3 that includes Bonanza Bros, fantasy Zone, and Shining in the Darkness.

They should put Sega 32X games on there too. Virtua Fighter and Knuckles Chaotix. I know they won't. Popful Mail is good but has a weird camera that doesn't let you see far in the direction you're moving

I'll buy it for Popful Mail alone, that's a masterpiece but I would like to see Batman, Golden Axe III and another Phantasy Star for the Genesis lineup and Final Fight CD, Lunar and Batman Returns on the Sega CD lineup. I hope Snatcher's on there for the fans but I'm not a visual novel guy myself

Not sega related, but if you haven't played it, you should check out "Zombie Hunter" for the NES. Game was incredibly difficult but really fun for me. Game also has some speech playback at the title screen, pretty neat. Still haven't found an irl copy yet though. ):

Since Sega is adding Sega CD games for Sega Genesis Mini 2. I do hope that Sega might add Snatcher (I do have one in TurboGrafx-16, but I might need to look at Playthrough on the English version before I complete it on TurboGrafx-16 since it's completely Japanese), Time Gal, Dragon's Lair, After Burner III, Final Fight CD, Secrets of Monkey Island and maybe some Sega 32X games like Virtua Fighter & Knuckles' Chaotix in Sega Genesis Mini 2 as well. I don't know if they're going to add Night Trap in Sega Genesis Mini 2 since that was one of the two games that the ERSB was created. And plus, I did actually purchase Night Trap on Nintendo Switch through Nintendo Switch eShop Sale ($2.99). And I think Sega should add some SNK Classics in Sega Genesis Mini 2 like Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown as well since I don't think Sega CD had that many Fighting Games.

You probably shouldn't wait for "The Secret of Monkey Island" on the Genesis Mini 2. Though published by JVC for the Sega CD, that game was from LucasArts. It's highly doubtful that Disney, current owner of LFL, would grant permission, especially now as Disney has revived Lucasfilm Games and they have plans for the Monkey Island franchise. That said, why bother with the Sega CD version? It wasn't a very good port of the original PC game.

@@Watcher3223 Technically that there's Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion were both included in the Sega Genesis Mini 1, it's most likely we could see some The Secret of Monkey Island games included as well.

@@DigiPen92 While licensed by Disney to use their properties in those games, "Castle of Illusion" and "World of Illusion" were also originally developed and published by Sega. The copyright to that software belongs to Sega. You can't say the same about "The Secret of Monkey Island." As such, Sega may not have the legal rights to distribute it on their Genesis Mini 2.

Dark Wizard. I love those strategy RPGs. But if Shining Force CD is on there, not sure Dark Wizard would be added, but fingers crossed anyway.

Gotta have Snatcher, Mortal Kombat and Shining Force 2. It would be nice to see the 32X version of Virtua Fighter and I’d like to see the original Phantasy Star (master system). Bonus Ecco the Dolphin 2 for sega cd.

The Genesis Mini came so close to greatness for me, but without Splatterhouse 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Herzog Zei, a Strike title and the Mutant League games, it disappointed. Hopefully this time. Glad to see Shining in the Darkness, Bonanza Bros, and the Mega CD games look rad.

I wish they made game disc versions of these on consoles as well. I love retro games but I don't want to buy alot of different mini-consoles for them. I wish most retro stuff was officially buyable on my Switch or PS, XBOX!

I'd love to see Lunar 1+2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles (with the Sonic 2 with Knuckles), Snatcher, Eternal Campions 2, and how about some 32X games like Knuckles Caotix and the Afterburner game that was on there. I just hope it even gets here.
