For a long time, SA1 was my favorite, and remained so even after I passed SA2. But after the second replay of SA2 for more than 100 hours on all 180 emblems, I changed my mind a lot. This game creates a sense of flow and challenge like no other Sonic game. SA1 is good for casual gameplay, open level design experiments, and just plain fun, but it lacked the depth, complexity, and well-defined gameplay style of SA2. Now on the way I have P06 which has every chance of becoming my new favorite, because the level design in Sonic 06 in my opinion reached its peak and was buried under absolutely raw clunky gameplay which both fixes and improves P06, but I need to give it a lot time to say for sure.

Generations was definitely good when it was good but the overall experience felt weirdly hollow without a proper story. When Unleashed wrapped up and Endless Possibility started playing, I was like: "Holy shit, what a journey." When Generations wrapped up, I was like: "Oh. Okay."

I grew up with Unleashed on the PS2 and it's still my #1 to this day. It also probably helped that the medals weren't mandatory in that version xD

If Unleashed Ultimate ever happens, I think they should handle the Sun & Moon Medals like this: 1. Main story stages have Lvl.1 gates (no medal requirement) 2. Extra stages have Lvl.2-5 gates. 3. DLC stages have Lvl.6-7 gates (since they were the hardest). 4. Lvl.7 gates now require 100 medals instead of 120. 5. All stages, DLC ones included, have actual entrance gates in the 3D hub worlds.

I'm kind of surprised how beloved Unleashed is. Its writing and the introduction of boost gameplay are why i dropped the series until Frontiers came out. Even with Frontiers, i think it would be dramatically improved by just not using boost gameplay for the cyberspace levels. I hate boost gameplay so much lol

Oh also to mention, since the Classics generally ranked very high, I wanted to throw a recommendation for 'Triple Trouble 16 Bit'. It's a fangame that reimagines the Game Gear title and looks very much like if it was a Genesis game, with vastly expanded levels/gimmicks as well (but at the same time definitely isn't necessary to play the original to enjoy or understand this game). I know fangames weren't on the tierlist but it would come in not far behind Sonic 2 for me in quality. Definitely worth looking at IMO.

This looks like a pretty good ranking, at least on first glance. I don't own any consoles and the Werehog never sounded like my cup of tea, so is Unleashed Project (for Generations) in your opinion an acceptable way to experience the daytime stages of Unleashed on PC? (I have the Unleashed Project Complete Addon mod as well.)

Why the only one who doesn't think 3D blast is that bad? At the time of its release yes, the gameplay was kind of middling ... but the visuals were pretty impressive on the Genesis. I remember having the game, picked up used at a flea market for like $15 in the mid 90s and I enjoyed it.

My top 6(haven't played the Adventure games, and if i'm being critical, number 4 should be number 2, because it's a 10/10 like number 1, whereas the remaining 4 games are all 9/10 games. I just ranked them based on how much fun I have with them). 6: Sonic 2 5: Sonic Generations 4: Sonic Mania 3: Sonic Frontiers 2: Sonic Colors(yeah, nostalgia) 1: Sonic Unleashed

I recommend playing the saturn version of 3d blast assuming from the footage you only played the genesis one and the genesis one is one of the worst games but the Saturn one is regarded as a pretty decent game ( also theres a joystick on the Saturn so its way better )

Forces is boring 99% of the time, 06 terrible but fun sometimes. I based the list off my own enjoyment, not quality

@@JustMaxT Strong disagree. Forces has some fun movement mechanics and is surprisingly stable compared to most 3D Sonic games. I'll agree the level design leaves a lot to be desired, but at least that level in the city where Infinite is making your custom hero hallucinate is really cool. That one level is more fun than all of '06 IMO, which is so absurdly buggy that it's basically impossible for me to enjoy playing.

@@Waffletigercat Strongly disagree with you aswell because sonic 06 is so fun because its so glitchy the story is funny sometimes and the music is god tier sonic story is cringe but shadow and silvers story are so good forces straight up has terrible classic sonic trash modern sonic and the avatar sucks to play fun to customize tho trash level design with 90% of the game being automated and the parts that are not automated they just suck because of the bad controls and the story is not fun its straight garbage and not funny garbage its straight cringe i dont get how anyone can defend forces it disrespected the sonic franchise espicially tails coward writing i hate it And also the music is mid af the only songs i like is the edgy remix of fist bump and infinite theme and the final phase of the final boss thats it i dont like the rest of the soundtrack

Nah the Werehog platforming can be fun, esports when you unlock later abilities cause you can get creative with skips to move through the levels faster.

I'm sorry, Forces can't be in front of 3D Blast. Frankly, almost all other obscure/side series games are objectively worse. Wanna talk about Sonic Blast or Sonic Labyrinth? And I will try to just forget where you placed Lost World, you should throw yourself from Ice Cap Zone (or, better idea, Diamond Dust Zone).

@@nordicohahah I have a Dreamcast and OG Sonic Adventure. It is glitchy AF. You fall through through the floor a lot. The homing attack fails sometimes. I admit it’s been a while since I actually hooked my Dreamcast up to a TV, but don’t tell me that only the DX port is glitchy. That’s BS.

@@TYP2K. The one I most specifically remember is that loop and then upward rise after the big jump near the beginning of Emerald Coast. Fell through that many times.
