Glad not everyone Is dumping on this game. Cause I would like to see team ninja make a sequel with a many improvements and a better look.

This is my game of the year, this game plays way better than it first looks, after you get deep into it then it picks up, the combat is insane and story nice and lengthy

user review score is 8.6 on metacritic, this is definitely an underrated gem. I just wish Team Ninja gets the success they deserve

Just to add, there are nine hidden bosses from earlier TN games that are a lot of fun, though hard. Also, most of the characters are actually historical as are the events in the story, which made it even more interesting for me. It's a period where the Shogunate and the Imperial forces are at odds and your choices do matter.

This game is such a blast. So many reviews were making it sound so bland and uninspired but that’s so not true. The combat is fantastic, the setting is awesome, the art direction is really good. Solid 4/5.

Ive been playing almost every day and i love love this game. I love ghost of tsushima but you were limited to the katana. I like the different weapons and the combat styles are really cool compared to niohs just high mid and low stance. Im still trash at this game im on normal and its a decent difficulty. Im maybe 30+ hours in and only in map 2 still with sections i never touched. I love the transmoging also. I bought DD2 and havnt went back to it from day 1. I hope hope hope they add DLC and more weapons.

Finished this game on Twilight a few days ago, incredible experience. Really eager to pierce further into Midnight difficulty and start properly engaging with the extremes of the RPG layer. Masterwork rarity gear letting you overwrite whatever Traits/Substats you want by pulling them onto existing slots from other gear you don't mind breaking is such a cool system.

Definitely try twilight mode. Its about equal to nioh 2. And theres also midnight that you unlock. I started with twilight cuz i want the true team ninja experience (brutal). And yes this game is a return to grace for combat design and depth. I don't think it's really any worse than nioh 2 which is their best combat since ninja gaiden 2.

Most accurate review of this game that I have seen on KZfaq. Well done. Bought a ps5 for stellar blade but this game feels better in terms of combat.

My 1st impressions about the game were not that good and didnt want to buy it. But now after ~40 hours, i am in Act 2, i cant stop playing! Rise of the Ronin is awesome!! I love the fast and bloody combatsystem! Graphics not mindblowing, but the gameplay is absolut Top!

Excellent review. I love simple, peaceful open world-side missions and activities. In Spider-Man 2, I spent two hours just flying around with Howard’s birds.

It's such a great game, I have 50+ hours so far. Some people are getting too hung up on visuals and the fact that's it's not some mind glowing GOAT experience. All the positive reviews are saying the same thing; it's fun and has great combat.

I finished and loved. However, let's not forget a few things. First , it costs 70 dollars and some PS3 games look better. Then it tool them apparently 10 years to do this game. 10 years is normally Red Dead Redemption 2 level of detail and work. Third, so many people defend team ninja as being good in combat. A game can't just choose one thing and ignore the rest, especially when doing an open world game. Those people talk as if you had to choose. Finally, to this day, Ghost of Tsushima with Iki Island costs less. It's good but not as good as a 70 $ level could and should be. It also does not look like a game worked on for 10 years. We are in 2024. There are existing standards.

You hold down R1 for martial skills, not L1, unless you can change it of course, im not even sure if you can, I know there different presets because I changed my Sprint to L3 because it just felt awkward to hold circle to Sprint when 90% of these games Sprint with L3

Why doesn't anyone ever mention stranger of paradise when talking about other team ninja games, especially considering it came out after both nioh games, and gameplay and progression wise is one of their better ARPGs imo

This would really get its time to shine on pc. ps5 games only usually make it big if its sony or someone making it, or a sequel to an already beloved IP

I loved my time with this game the entire story line was fun but what made me completely check out after feeling like I did EVERYTHING was the surprise endgame difficulty that just made it feel like a slog if I'm being honest. I wanted to keep playing but it just turned from fun to a chore for me at that point. Feeling like all my upgrades meant absolutely nothing was a spirit breaker lol. Still want a sequel for the story though.

Really conflicted by this one. Just watched Fighting Cowboys review on it, when it comes to Team Ninja & Soulslikes he’s a massive fan and he was kinda meh on this. I’m pleased people are enjoying it but does it reach the heights of Nioh 2? That was TN’s Crown Jewels. Enjoyed Wu Long well enough to play it 3 times but it was a pale shadow compared to Nioh 2.

Plus, people would probably mod the lighting to look more beautiful on pc

While I enjoy the game overall, the parry is a bit too tight on normal. It feels unpolished compared to Wo Long. Still great but that parry definitely brings it down.

You certainly start of the video with a great point. Team ninja(koei tecmo in general) does not advertise thier games much. Pretty sure thier marketing budget is like a fourth of production cost

I almost didn’t buy this game because if the reviews, but I am VERY glad I trusted my instincts. The graphics are actually good, performance is a smooth 60fps, and the combat is incredible.

Will i like this this game if i didnt like nioh? My main gripe was the combat was too complicated with all the moves. I like the simplicity of sekiro and souls games.

Graphics fine. Combat amazing. Story interesting. Side content plentiful, some stuff better than others. Several different fighting styles. Great interesting story. Meaningful choices that impact your story thus creating high replay value. Fantastic character creation, 1 of the best Ive seen in my 48 years. Evetyone else.....6 out of 10. What I do ❤ is how side content relates to the time perood, so aye ok, bandits etxmc, but it makes sense unlike some ow games that stuff their world full of guff.

everyone who's actually played this game loves it, the vast majority of people who have slagged this game off in their shitty youtube shorts have never even played it. This game is on fucking point, 70 hours in and still hooked hard

I played through the story on dawn difficulty...dropped it on midnight...not for me anymore...

I`m playing it right now it`s decent. Combat is great, but everything else is meh. Story have no stakes, you can battle someone and spill their guts all over the place only for them to rise in the cutscene, comment of how great the fight was, and leave while you`re just looking. Many games use this, but not to this extent. Amount of characters is overwhelming, you meet new faces every few missions, but very few are given actual screentime. It`s confusing to remember who is who and what are their stakes, and keep in mind game has no repercussions for you to work both factions, it`s just silly. You kidnapp a guy, fight to the death with his friend who attempts to save him, beat the friend and give the guy to your employer, only to realize the guy is still standing on his usual spot afterwards, because employer had a change of heart, and his friend you almost murdered is completetely chill about it like "oh, it`s you, go easy on me next time, hehe". WTF. Also, i want more stances for not-so-popular weapons. Katanas have 12 stances, most of the weapons have 3. It`s just unbalanced.

The game play loop is very addictive, im also enjoying the story. 👍

I stopped caring about reviews after what they did to Days Gone. I’m glad I can afford purchasing games and test them myself.

I'm gonna return Dragons Dogma 2 and get Rise. DD2 is just so boring and seems more like a remake to me than a true sequel. Rise seems more exciting and faster. I love Nioh and Wo Long so right up my alley.

Nioh 2 combat is the best without a doubt.

It isnt underrated, platinumed it on ps5. its very cool and feel like NIOH with open world, but then you realize the story doesnt get intresting and you keep doing the same thing over and over. I was happy to be over with the game around third map, and what do they do after it? you return to map 2 and suddenly the public order is all over the place again- and you have to go to each zone and do it again. also, the blocking and counter-attack which is fine but so much baiting and even "slow downs" can f you over. also in the third map, I had snow world and normal world changing during time, and even after cutscenes- wtf?! I wish the main story had got some more focus, feels they put all the effort into making 3 big maps. should have sticked with 1 or 2 and improved the story and main missions, you never really feel like its a big civil war because the cutscenes never try to show it.

have to admit that the more I see of this game the less I get intrested in buying it rn. I assume the gameplay is fun and its a round game...but everything I see about the open world makes it look like another game that just has an open world to have an open world because its trendy. And those are usually the types of open world that I cannot stand
