Ajax have had a terrible start to the season, at one point sitting rock bottom of Eredivisie - a big fall for a team that's tradionally been the biggest team in The Netherlands that was in the Champions League semi-final less than 5 years ago! The problem has largely been caused by terrible transfer business over the last few seasons, reaching a pinnacle this summer when they sold all their best players and didn't replace them with anyone close to the quality they're used to. So in this video, we re-write history and show what Ajax should have done if they wanted to get back into the Champions League and challenging for silverware again.

There is still a lot of FM talent at Ajax (even if the players are not doing great in real life). The dynamics and player reactions are a bit mental in FM24. I started a Gladbach save with transfers off and within 2 days fell out with my captain because the squad was weak at centre back. There was no chat option for "I got here two days ago, mate, and we can't make transfers, so what do you want me to do - pull on a jersey myself? I'm not Kev, I'm only 5ft10." 😆 I don't know if it's new for FM24, but with transfers off you can't even go and sign players on a free. If you go to offer a contract then you get a message saying no transfers are allowed in this window.

Seems to me that Ajax’s problems were caused by selling all their good players and failing to get into the Champions League. This is the opposite of that!

Zealand also had a problem with the GK squad depth on his beta save as well. I wonder if they have increased the need to have 3 keepers this year

Both Rulli and Pasveer are injured irl, so that's not a FM thing. FM24 definitely does have a lot more goalkeeper injuries though

Morale seems to have issues in fm this year. I had a player who had just told me he's now comfortable playing outside of his best position only for him to spit the dummy the next day for being played out of position.

If I can make some suggestions for this style of video in the future: It looks like you're literally reading a script off your computer, I'd love to see some more of those emotions and quirkiness we get from the main videos. That Trophy lift was a great point though!

It's only the third video in this style I've ever made. It'll become more natural with time. But I have to read off the script to keep it to the tight fast pace we're going for with these videos

How do you find all these players? Do you let the director of football sort them out, and you just confirm them? Or do you know/find these players yourself? Im new to the game and your video's have helped me out big time, so thanks for that!

morale in 24 is awful. My star striker in League 1 was upset over my team talk which was basically "don't get complacent" when we nearly bottled a match against a non league side and 2 months later still has a grumpy about it, though he's scoring loads and we've gone from relegation battle to playoff contention so i don't care. In my beta save with Arsenal Rice and Saliba both got upset when I rested them in 2 meaningless league matches so that they wouldn't be injured for the Champions League Final, with Rice earning a mere 6.4 rating in that match, likely costing us the match.

The thing is that the director of football was asked to spend less on transfers and reduce the wage budget. So even though FM doesnt show it, a net spend of 50 million would be enough to get you sacked.

Kev, I am a massive fan of yours and have been subscribed for years. I have to say, however, that this style of video is not enjoyable for me - and for lots of other people, judging by the views. Your commentary is incessant with hardly any break or room to breath and seems to rush and bombard the viewer. This video, I feel, would have been a lot better were it around 30 mins long with more highlights to illustrate your points (paler performance, team cohesion, etc) and a less rushed cadence with your script: more show and slower tell. Thank you, though, for trying new ways to entertain your audience and for all the hard work you put into your content. As I said, big fan and loving all your other series.

These videos aren’t really aimed at the people who enjoy my current content. They’re aimed squarely at the TikTok generation who need fast paced short videos. We’re tweaking the format with every one will do and will figure it out a nice balance eventually. As far as view numbers go - the people who watch them are generally giving very good feedback, and view retention is the highest I’ve ever had on any videos. The issue is more people not giving them a chance in the first place, which is something I’ll keep working on.

I gather they're fixing the depth thing to a degree and as submissive as this kinda sounds, it feels like you should be able to go the group or the ringleader or whoever and say "We're looking at X player, would that make you happy?". To keep having to sign goalkeepers, only for the rebels to say "Nah, he's not enough, still unhappy." is kinda ridiculous.

Not only did I get a trophy lift, our team got a guard of honour from the opposition because we'd won the league before the match. Is that a new thing in FM 24? Never seen one before.

It's something I've done for years! I never should have told people I replaced my old teleprompter with the Elgato Prompter, then nobody would have noticed. I don't think it ever got mentioned when I used the old one!
