@Bzake really? He was making fun of the game because of the bugs and complained about CD Projekt RED not letting him push out his review early to tell people how buggy the game was, which meant that they bought the game without that knowledge. From what I recall, his review wasn't "good".

But I'd still rather have way too much than way too little. Say what you want about ubisoft but they always give you your money's worth. And as far as I know always release complete games on day 1. And their lineup of quality games is really hard to compete with. Far Cry, Rainbow Six, Assassins creed, watch dogs, the division, for honor, the crew, immortals, anno 1800. The only bad games they've made recently are the ghost recon games. I guess that's the franchise.they decided to dump all their shit ideas into.

They are masters of beautiful open world creation and their graphic engines are second to none. Unfortunately these mobile style systems are a huge turn off to me..i just want to chill out I don't want a supermarket on my tv. I know you can avoid it if you want..sort of.. Skill Up was given a review code for free. That massages away most of his misgivings about the store aspect. I'm not paying £60 for a bare bones (£100 for Ultimate Edition) game when I got 99% of what I wanted out of it from the _free_ beta test I played haha

@@SussedRage I've not really seen any of that in their games. I own most of the titles i listed and couldnt tell you which ones have it and to what extend. I cant remember it being promotes or having menu screens prompt me to buy currency. And as someone who plays lots of sports games i would notice because they plaster it everywhere. I'm playing Odyssey and Far Cry 5 right now and I've not even noticed an option for that, so it cant be very bad.

@@dash4800 hey yeah I completely agree. They do pick and choose which games to monetise the F out of lol. With this genre I mean Steep, and I know they've been a bit controversial in recent times with Valhalla but luckily they're managing to show some restraint. It's the sort of thing that if the game was £30 and not £70 I'd accept spending more ingame. I'm wondering what EA is going to do with Skate 4 as well!

There is much I disagree with in your review. However the biggest problem is your claim that the controls are bad when it's simply not the case. This is completely subjective and doesn't take into account player skill and player willingness to learn a foreign control scheme. The trickster mode for example takes a little learning but quickly becomes very fluid and easy to use and there is even an option for "Steep controls" which lets people use the same controls as Steep, a game that saw much praise for its controls. As for the "input delay" that seems to be intentional to keep a bit or realism to the controls and not go full on SSX Tricky crazy arcade style. You cant turn on a dime in any of these sports IRL and you need to constantly be looking ahead at the track to plan your next move. I think it was a smart move and grounds the sports in a bit more realism while keeping the over the top action in place.

extreme sports farcry. The fact that they can make a map suited for this in size is no surprise, they are kinda masters of making massive open worlds with interesting stuff in it. Even their most bland worlds have a lot of interesting spots in the world to explore and experience.

I did alpha testing for this back in like March and the one thing they really wanted feedback on was to make sure the shop worked correctly. Due to covid I didn't have anything else to do so I pretty much binged and completed the game, still didn't unlock any new cosmetic gear outside the pink smoke and gold cover helmet for essentially beating the game. The only way to get *some* cosmetic was by going through a series of daily challenges that went up to 15. Meaning getting new gear could take over 2 weeks for a simple helmet. Sucks that it's still the case. Seems like more of the items are purchasable with in game credits though.

Am I the only person who just thinks this looks like Forza Horizon except with extreme sports instead of cars? And I don't mean that as a knock either, I really enjoy Forza Horizon, but this game looks to be structured almost identically.

kind of a small feature but not one I see many people talking about, is the fact that at any point, you can switch to walking and back to you equipped gear. This can be a huge time saver. Also the handling improves with better bikes. It actually feels pretty close to IRL, not exact but close. Your not going to be turning sharply while also peddling at top speed. Just by not peddling, you gain a lot of steering input and if you break while turning, you will drift. Also the new unlocks are EVERYTHING! How can you not get exited over new equipment lol yah the stats go up incrementally but after a while that turns into a bike that can do things you thought you couldn't!

I'm hopeful they change player collision. The survey after the beta had questions directly asking about what you liked/what you'd change about player collision in mass races, including removing player collision. I'm not planning on buying Riders Republic immediately, and the trial week is over, but I'm really curious about the deadzone and input delay you described because that is something I was not conscious of and now I'm wondering about it. I do kinda wish that there was my commentary about how they did flips/spins/rotations because I think they came up with a really clever implementation that uses less inputs (up, down, left, right) instead of most games (up, down, left, right + diagonals) but achieves 12 different rotations compared to the usual 8.

I'm guessing the lag in the controls might be a requirement of the netcode. Sensible controls allow you to do those many small course corrections, but it also means you must store and send those over the network (and playback via ghosts). WIth servers already clogged up, this might have been an intentional design decision.
