I started playing 3 days ago. Today I tried casual 3v3 with my friends and the opposite team went ahead to bully me for my humble 6 points 4 minutes into the game. One of them even said their grandma plays better than I do. Dude I literally have 5 hours game time what do you expect, it's CASUAL for a reason. My team wasn't even toxic, we talked through vc so we didn't use quick chat. Literally aggression for NO reason. We won btw :)

The most toxic series of events that I have ever experienced, in Rocket League, happened only a day ago. I had partied-up with two teammates in 3s because we were on a win streak. We proceeded to win like 4 or 5 more games, in a row…however, when we had begun to get scored on, one of my teammates became SO angry and, quickly, switched up his “good guy” facade. It went from “Nice shot! Great Pass! Thanks!” to him saying (in his mic) “I can’t believe I need to be carrying this team”…that’s when he voted to forfeited. I was incredibly confused because of how fast he switched up. Still, there were 3 minutes left on the clock. We got scored on, once more, and the game was 1-4. Both teammates voted to forfeit. After that, I became angry and called them weak for quitting. After all, I had been the one who was bringing them to victory in each game - they had witnessed me 1v3 the other teams…therefore, I don’t know why there was a, sudden, change of heart; as if we weren’t capable of winning this game. Anyways, after I called them weak for quitting after being scored on, they started spamming “Nice shot!” when the other team hit the ball and “Great pass!” when I hit the ball. It wasn’t like I was being toxic. I was trying to win the game! I think what really pushed me over the limit was the fact that after they had voted to quit, one of my teammate’s took their sweet time to sit in net and write in chat, “sorry blue team my tm8 just doesnt wanna ff”…and the game wasn’t even too far apart!!!!! THERE WERE LIKE THREE MINUTES!! Am I wrong for not wanting to quit because I actually have confidence in my abilities?…are YOU justified for quitting when there are almost 4 minutes left in the game? Honestly, I think the reason why so many people are hard-stuck in their ranks is because they just give up too early, for stupid reasons, and without logic.

almost half of my winning matches is actually a comeback from 1 or 2 goals(especially when its a new teammate that i never play with before), because in the first 1-2 minutes is the phase where i still try to adapt to my teammates, thats why i still cant believe theres still a lot of people that try to ff early just because small mistakes smh

To get rid of the toxicity in my mind after this enlightening experience, I had to burn my eyes out with bleach, and listen to trash music to stop myself from hearing the chat bubbles that pop up with toxic twelve year olds, and scream to myself why I suck at rocket league. When some of the pain relinquished I could only play exhibition matches against bots for a while because they don’t judge me on how bad I am. Even know when I look my dog in the eyes it’s like he’s saying “What a save!!” In my face. I will never be the same.

A year and a half later, this video still rings true. I just played an evening of Rocket League without any of my friends or usual teammates available, and it was SO MUCH QUITTING by my teammates!!! I'm talking I went through several teammates per match in a number of instances. And that's whether we were winning, losing, or tied. Just a revolving door of half-assed teammates that wanted to quit more than anything. I don't get it. And even worse than teammates abandoning the match is when they stick around and refuse to contribute or even move. I had highlight-reel matches that I intended to save and enjoy later that were ruined by sulky losers.
