About Joseph Carlson:
I am not a professional investor and have never claimed to be. I'm an amateur investor sharing my experience of what I've learned, where I have had success, and where I've had failures. I share my thoughts on investing and performance with transparency. My approach and goal to investing is to buy high-quality long-term investments in world-class businesses that I call "compounders". I view my investments as businesses, not as stocks. Before creating content on KZfaq full time I worked as a senior-level programmer for 8 years. Over the years as a programmer, I compounded my knowledge of development. I take the same iterative learning approach to my study of investing. I study investing as a craft in the continual pursuit of being better. I will make mistakes in investment decisions from time to time. Results are not guaranteed. Please do not blindly follow me into any investments, and make sure your portfolio and investments are built around your specific income, risk tolerance, personality, and timeline, and overall circumstances.

Hey Joseph, love your content, thank you very much! One question - how precise and good is Qualtrim for non-US businesses? Due to taxes, I'm looking to invest in German stocks, but most pages like GoogleFinance or YahooFinance do not provide that much detail, in general. Would love to use Qualtrim, but does it work for that? Thank you very much!

I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

There are many other interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Colleen Janie Towe covers things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk. many things like that. Just take a look at her full name on the internet. She is well known so it shouldn't be hard to find her.

I began my investment journey at the age of 33, primarily through hard work and dedication. I am to share that my passive income exceeded $100k in a single month for the first time. This success reinforces the importance of the advice mentioned earlier. It is not about achieving quick wealth, but rather ensuring long-term financial prosperity..

Not making upto a million before retirement is an unfulfilled retirement. I’m 54 and my wife is 50 . We are both retired with over $3million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer putting blames on the FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early. Even till now, we earn weekly.

I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have, making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.

Great video again! Just one thought on not paying fees with individual holdings. Compared to actively managed funds i can see the point, however even selling a stock for another compelling one is a kind of fee, since you would need to realize gains and pay taxes on the upside, or occur losses on the downside. With an index fund that you just dca, that should not happen.

I was curious because Wendy's doesn't report average revenue per company-owned restaurants as a line item in their financials, so I looked it up. They did $2.2 million/company-owned store for 2022, definitely on track to do more this year. I agree Cracker Barrel is one to avoid, but I can't get behind CMG's valuation when Wendy's is trading at trough valuations relative to its history while CMG, WING, CAVA, QSR all look way overpriced to me. I think TXRH and WEN are the two best stocks in QSR. I know you prefer TXRH because they have no debt, but I specifically prefer WEN because of their debt ladder. Their capital allocation strategy makes a lot of sense, and they throw off massive cash flow.

Q2 is, if in 10 years these stocks only 2x revenue, so technically can 2x price if PE stays the same, etc, how close is this to the sp500 perf in next 10y ? If it is really close, is it worth the risk and headache to keep an eye on?

Great content, but those Chipotle forecasts seemed *very* generous. Believing that both locations and revenue per location will roughly double over the next decade appears contradictory and implies that Chipotle has not already opened locations in its highest demand/margin locations. It also implies that there will be limited revenue cannibalism from these new locations. I'd like to know where they're planning on opening all these new high revenue, high demand locations because it seems like Chipotle is already easily available to most Americans

This is such a skewed video. Most of your companies are in the S&P500, they're literally what makes up the index. So when you compare the price of your portfolio to the index they're obviously going to match. You could probably switch out all of your companies to 10 other companies that are in the S&P500 and still get the same FCF yield weighted average. The question that people should be asking is if all companies in the S&P500 are overvalued. In that case, if they are, then so are your stocks and they're too expensive. Of course this is again an endless debate about valuation. My point is that you make your companies out to look cheap, as they're the same as the S&P500. No, they are actually expensive, and so is the S&P500.

Right now SPGI. Fico probably grows faster but it's way more expensive.

@@JosephCarlsonShow that’s been my conundrum is FICOs valuation. I think it’s a better business model than SPGIs with more growth potential but it’s hard to put money into FICO when SPGI is still an excellent business but at a much more reasonable price. Thank you for sharing!!

Lowest hanging fruit is almost always upping your income. Every job you take should have a clear path of growth and higher wages in the future. Don't stay static. In terms of investing, budget well and keep contributing all the time to ETF's, if you develop your own strategy as well just stay consistent strategy. Good investing is rational and disciplined, bad investing is emotional, speculative, and confused.

Purposely avoided that video Joseph mentioned. I hate the idea of "super investors" as a statistician and financial analyst for reasons that should be obvious, but so many of us still rely on "great man" theories of history and human behavior. I knew it'd get clicks though because it mentions big names. Very algo friendly. Just some feedback (I see others similar to mine below) that YOUR analysis is much better independently. No need to lean so heavily into that other content. But I guess if your goal is clicks, sure, do that and I just won't watch those vids. Cheers!

Man you go over your portfolio all the time, the same companies. As a subscriber, I'd love if you'd cut out that portion and talk about new stuff. Like reviewing potential stocks, or stock moves. Like, is there nothing to talk about with Meta and Google? You do that on your After hours channel, so should I unsubscribe from your main channel that's on repeat and stick to the After hours?

Joseph! Your portfolio, to me, is way to conservative. I am only up to EP 51, but I watched this one today and set up a watch list in Seeking Alpha with your current stocks in the Passive Income Portfolio. Your yield sucks. You must have started a different more risky Portfolio by now. If I were as young as you and had half a million in one portfolio, I would protect it too. But you are still a baby; surly you are ‘experimenting’ with growth and Value by now.

Nearly every video in the channel is the same: host trying to convince himself that massively overpriced companies are cheap in some sense. I still think that the best video by far that you have done is the one where you break down the returns of Dollar General. That encapsulates well what I understand by investing: find good businesses that return at least 10-15% to you no matter what the market does trading at a sub-15 valuation, collect that business return while you wait for the multiple to expand, acknowledge overvaluation, and scale out. It is not clear at all to me what is your expectation when (actual) multiples are already in the 30s and 40s: there is life outside the s&p500 and the US.

""During the first five months of this year, our stores saw a 120% increase in theft incidents involving violence or threats of violence," he added." TGT CEO. It's self-reported and very broadly defined. Could span from minor petty theft to large-scale looting.

i believe there was new legislation that would imply that theft under 900USD is no longer legally pursued, lots of videos on twitter of people walking out of stores with goods and security not trying to stop them because they're scared of lawsuits against them for assault
